After killing the first boss, Kila and Cayron began to walk down the meadow. It was so large that it looked like it was stretching as far as the eye could see. But, according to the memories that Kila had of this kind of world, dungeons were divided into 3 floors, where one could access the next or the previous one thanks to a monolith that was at the end of the floor, and which was guarded by the boss.
But here, the dungeon seemed to have only one floor and the bosses were scattered throughout the area, which forced them to find them, which was extremely annoying. Even if they met sometimes, or even very often slimes, they were just too weak to last long during a fight.
Finally, too weak for Kila and Cayron. They were undoubtedly great enemies to all the people who were with them on the first quest. Even for them, it would have been difficult if Kila didn't have all his knowledge on the subject.
So they continued to walk while killing the few slimes they saw. And at one point, when Kila had killed another slime, he saw something light up in the latter's body. He then approached to see what it was and once he took it, a message from the system came to greet him.
[G-rank mana core]
The mana core was the very essence of the monsters that were in this world. Without the latter, he could not live and therefore appear in dungeons. Monsters were supposed to appear once mana appeared in the world, so it was quite normal that it could not live without it.
So once Kila had taken the mana heart from the monster's body, the monster began to evaporate into tiny mana particles in the air. Just after it completely disappeared, some things appeared in the place where the monster's corpse was a few seconds before.
These things seemed like a piece of equipment, and from their appearance, they looked like a pair of boots, while the other things looked like a gelatinous cube and something else that come from the slimes.
After seeing all that was happening, Kila remembered what he had just tried meant.
The mana hearts and materials that monsters drop when they died allowed a person, or rather a blacksmith, to craft more specific equipment than those that could be obtained on monsters. This equipment could be customized by the customer and therefore choose their appearance, and also the stats they wanted if the blacksmith was experienced enough and had the resources to make the piece of equipment.
The equipment that monsters drop when they die was equipment below in terms of stats and quality compared to what a blacksmith could create. However, these pieces of equipment were certainly below what a blacksmith could forge, but they all belonged to a set, giving them bonus stats that sometimes were even more interesting than the pieces made by the blacksmith, and sometimes they can even give active or passive spells that were extremely interesting.
Certainly, the equipment manufactured could also have a panoply or spells that were related to them, but for this, the blacksmith had to be experienced and have very high luck for the equipment created comes out with a panoply or a spell.
A person could also sell these stones, materials, or equipment that was not used to make money and thus buy other things, but for that, what they sold had to be a minimum interesting to make a lot of money.
Kila then took all that was on the ground and identified them.
[gelatinous cube x3]
[slime liquid x1]
[Slime's boot.
Grade: Common
Effect: +1 AGI
Condition: None]
Seeing the effect of the equipment, Kila couldn't help but sigh. The problem was that he could not see the bonuses that could give the panoply because he only had one piece. He still had to collect the leggings, torso, arms, shoulders, and helmet. And knowing that the slime he had just killed was alone, he had to find other slime and have enough luck to have the right pieces and not duplicate one. He also didn't know where all the slimes he had killed since he came into the dungeon could be.
Seeing that there was nothing he could do, he decided to equip it. Plus 1 point in AGI was always better than 0 right?
When he put it on him, a new option appeared in his field of vision. This option allowed him, if he wished, to hide his equipment. This option is mainly used not to clutter the person during a fight. No one would like to carry a big armor on him when he had to fight for his life. Finally no one except those who wanted to show their wealth and the rarity of their equipment.
Because of this, one might even find a person on the street who could have a legendary set of equipment, but no one will notice it. Of course, Kila disabled the option. He did not want to lug around with jelly on all his body. Just the idea disgusted him.
Once he had collected all he could he started walking again to find other monsters to kill and level up before trying to kill the other bosses. Cayron had gone to relieve himself a little further away, and once he had caught up with Kila, he noticed that he was strangely happy.
He didn't know if he was happy because he had relieved himself, because he was still alive, or to see that he was able to kill slimes. There was also the possibility that he had managed to harvest equipment earlier, without him being able to see it, but he did not want to think about this option.
He wanted to try to trust him. And then if he knew and didn't tell him anything, he could probably have 'died', even if it was very unlikely knowing that he had managed to kill a boss on his own. So he decided to tell him when they had found another group of monsters. And thinking of this, he saw a group of 10 slimes, which made him extremely happy.
Cayron also had the same reaction. He was gradually beginning to get used to this new world and to take a liking to it. The more monsters he killed, the happier he felt. That was the effect that the powers had on people. They allowed them to do things that would initially be impossible, which played a lot on the satisfaction a person could have during a fight.
There was also the class factor, and knowing that Kila and Cayron had one of the best classes and possessed very great potential, they could only rejoice. After all, it wasn't the same feeling between cutting off an enemy with a dagger and atomizing it with a fireball.
The two boys rushed to the group of slimes. Kila immediately created a giant bubble and imprisoned the slimes in it, before completely freezing the inside and then breaking the bubble, instantly killing 6 slimes at once.
Cayron had created his air blades and was gone to take care of the other 4 that kila's bubble had not managed to swallow. He went to cut the slimes with sylphide who was throwing air blades from behind. The air blades had almost no effect on them, but this wasn't their purpose. They were simply used to block their advance towards Cayron so that the latter could cut them in one go more easily.
The fight was so fast and fluid that the slimes didn't even have time to react for Kila and couldn't defend themselves for Cayron. It was simply a one-sided fight.
Once they were all dead, Kila finally climbed to level 3. It immediately put its 10 new stats in INT thus making it climb to 400 MP. Unfortunately, he didn't gain any new skills, but he couldn't blame the system.
If he had another skill, he probably could have rolled on the dungeon on his own. And even if something happens to him, he could still retreat, heal himself, and then re-attack. This option was simply possible because the slimes were extremely slow, which would have made it extremely easy for him.
Cayron too had still not leveled up. He suspected that to go up to level 2, it took about 2000XP, which he had probably received for having 'participated' in the death of the white slime. However, to get up to level 3, it seemed like it took almost 15,000XP. He thought this to himself because even after he had killed the slime boss and received 10,000XP, he had not leveled up.
"Cayron, monsters have mana hearts inside of them and when you take it, the monster in question let down a piece of equipment." Kila said before going near the slimes he had killed.
Hearing Kila, Cayron began to rejoice before he too left to get his share. Seeing him, Kila could see that he was not aware of that, which deep down relieved him greatly. He didn't want to lose his childhood friend, and suspecting him wouldn't help things. So when he saw him, he couldn't help but smile.
Once he had come to his senses, he went to take the hearts before collecting the equipment. This time, he got 2 new pieces of equipment, shoulder pads giving +1 VIT and a helmet giving +1 DEF, which allowed him to unlock the first panoply bonus.
[Slime Set Bonus:
2 pieces : +2 INT
4 pieces: +4 INT; +2 AGI
6 pieces: +8 INT; +4 AGI; +2 VIT
The statistics can be cumulated for each level reached]
Even though Kila expected better, he was forced to face reality. The slimes were probably monsters ranging from level 2 to 6 or even 7 if you were nice, so the equipment would necessarily be bad.
But just having equipment was already a good thing in itself. If he managed to get all the pieces, he could increase his max mana by 140 points, which was more than a level up. So he decided that before he goes to attack the bosses, he will try to have all the panoply to increase his efficiency to the maximum.
"Cayron if there is something that your need you can come and choo..." Kila said as he turned before seeing Cayron admiring his armor that was currently on him. He had managed to get the helmet, torso, and leggings. And when Kila saw him, he felt like she was seeing a behemoth.
"Cayron you... How to say, you know you can hide your equipment right? Kila asked just to be sure.
"Oh? Are you sure? I thought the design was nice, didn't you? Cayron asked Kila, who shook his head to say no.
Seeing him, Cayron decided to remove the appearance of his armor. Even if he liked the design, it was true that it was not at all comfortable whether it was to walk, run or fight. And then even sylphide found the tastes of his master strange, so all the more reason to remove it.
Once they had finished picking up and were about to find another slime, Kila had an idea. He still didn't have access to the inventory so they couldn't all carry with them. He then decided to create a giant bubble to carry the equipment he didn't use with him at any time.
By doing this, it would also allow him to permanently have a giant bubble ready, which will make it even easier for him to fight in the future. And if he ever started a fight and had to remove the equipment for some reason, then he can simply eject it before resuming it once the fight is over. In addition, once he has access to his inventory, he will be able to put all the equipment stored in his bubble to resell them once he will be in the outside world.
After storing all the equipment in the bubble, they began to go back on their way to find another slime, and thus continued to level up, if they succeeded of course. They had absolutely nothing else to do but fight. They could certainly rest but knowing that they had come barely 3 hours before, they were not tired, knowing that looking for monsters could be counted as rest in itself since it took them longer to search than to fight.
Kila even wondered if 1 week was too much for a quest like this. This quest could certainly be hard for those who hadn't gotten used to this world, but for people like Kila, it became child's play. He was even starting to hope that the other 2 bosses would be stronger than the last one because otherwise, it would be much too simple for him to win. And who likes something too simple?
So they looked for slimes, fought them, looked for others, and then fought them too. They did this several times until they felt like they were going around in circles. They had even returned to the very first place, the place where they landed when they were teleported into the dungeon. However, to Kila's disappointment, He found no bodies. The only reasons he could think of were that he had liquefied them all, so all of them had disappeared since there were no more bodies, or else the corpses of monsters disappeared on their own after a while. Even if he leaned more towards the second case because he also could not find the body of the boss.
