Chapter 5 - Suspicious

A slow-moving hand—that was what Koshin was currently looking at. This hand was actually his own; he had gotten up a few minutes ago and was now trying out his new eyes.

After he had woken up, he placed what happened to him in the back of his mind as he didn't want to think about it.

To distract himself, he decided to see what his eyes were capable of, and the results were mind-boggling.

After activating [Intense Focus] Koshin raised his right hand up to his face.

'My hand is moving slowly?' Koshin reflected as he stopped moving his hand and attempted to move his head.

'No, it's my entire boy' he realized.

'I see, so [Intense Focus] slows down everything except my thinking and vision' he reasoned.

He then returned his gaze to his hand, this time focusing on his palm.

His vision then focused in on the small ripples on his skin.

His vision made the ripples crystal clear, and he had the impression that he could get even closer if he tried.

Koshin doubled down on his concentration, but the outcome caught him off guard.

Instead of getting closer, his field of vision widened, and he was able to survey the entire room.

'What the- how is this possible,' Koshin thought as he quickly retracted his vision and deactivated Intense Focus.

"A 360-degree view" Koshin murmured as rubbed his temples.

"Not only did that make me queasy, I can actually feel another headache coming,Sigh~" Koshin quickly shook his head to get rid of the thought of resting again.

'Maybe the headache is caused by my mental stress? Hmm, the inheritance did warm me about this; I think I understand now,' Koshin reflected as he remembered what the inheritance had written.

'Let's see, what else can my eyes do? Right, [Analyze], but what do I use it on?' He questioned himself as he looked down at his robe.

'Let's try it, Analyze!' He willed.

A box then appeared in front of him.

[Worn Black Robe] - An old robe made from Picus Cotton which comes from a Picus Tree. ———————————————————————————

"Exactly on point," Koshin said. He also knew this, so he was able to identify if it was correct.

'I'll have to try this skill more in the outside world' Koshin reasoned as there wasn't much inside the Omni-Realm to test on.

'Okay, now to try my other skills, First, [Accelerator]'

Koshin then willed his consciousness into his heart, located the Omni-Blood cell, and willed it to activate.

On activation, the cell doubled in size and began glowing purple, it then shot out of Koshin's heart into his bloodstream.

Upon entering the bloodstream, the enlarged cell stood still, which left Koshin puzzled. 'What's wrong? Why isn't it moving? Maybe I have to manually move it?' Koshin guessed.

He then willed the enlarged cell forward but found that unlike before, where it moved depending on his will, now it was being stubborn.

"Dammit, why are you acting up now?" Koshin said in a frustrated tone.

The cell was being rowdy like a child who couldn't get what they wanted. On the outside, Koshin began profusely sweating as he moved the cell throughout his bloodstream.

5 minutes later, he could finally see the end.

"Almost there," Koshin said as he grinded his teeth.

Seeing the end in sight, Koshin gave one last push as the cell returned to his heart, signifying the completion of his first revolution.

Inside the Omni-Realm Koshin's eyes quickly opened as he felt a burst of energy course through his body.

Unbeknownst to him, his body exuded a dangerous aura; if any ordinary person saw him right now, they would be hesitant to approach him.

Clenching his fists, Koshin's bones cracked as the friction of his skin squeezing together gave off a stretching sound.

"This- this power, I feel amazing!" Koshin said excitedly.

He had never felt this energized or powerful in his entire life. It was as if he had been given a new body—a healthy body.

After swinging his arms around for a bit, Koshin bent his knees and got into a running position. He then took off like an arrow that had been shot from a bow.

His hair and robes flutter as he beamed a wide smile on his face.

"Haaaaaa, haaa, haaa," Koshin's breathing became labored. But this was not due to exhaustion, but rather from excitement.

'Faster, faster' he thought. His legs began to move faster as he sped up; he then took one big leap forward, bent his knees, and jumped straight up into the air.

This unconscious action quickly woke him up. Koshin realized that he had jumped higher than he expected.

He was about 8 meters off the ground when he began to plummet.

"Gah!" Koshin screamed while falling.

He closed his eyes and extended his arms in front of him as if he were trying to stop the ground from getting closer.

Upon hitting the ground no sound was heard, Koshin also felt no pain.

He then slowly opened his eyes and found that he was kneeling on the ground with his hands extended in front of him, which was stopping him from falling forward.

Quickly bouncing to his feet, Koshin heaved a sigh of relief.

"I need to be more careful, but at least I wasn't hurt"

Smiling again, he then clenched his fist and began punching the air with his sloppy posture and technique.

Yet he didn't care since he was enjoying himself. After a few minutes of punching and running around, Koshin smiled brightly again.

'It's true, even after all that, I don't feel tired; it's as if I can do this forever,' he thought as he looked down at his open palms.

Just as he was going to continue, he felt liquid flowing down his face.

'What? Why are my eyes and nose bleeding? Wait, why isn't it stopping?' Koshin panicked. He tried to close his eyes and plug his nose with his fingers, but that didn't stop the blood from flowing out.

'Wait! This might be a side effect of Accelerator!' Koshin guessed. He then quickly deactivated Accelerator.

Upon deactivation, Koshin felt his heart rate speed up, which caused him to start hyperventilating. He then grabbed his chest and fell to his knees as he felt like he couldn't breathe.

Inside Koshin's body, his heart began expanding at a rapid rate, and just when it looked like it was about to burst, it did. Koshin's heart exploded inside of his body.

An ungodly amount of blood then came bursting out of Koshin's mouth, nose, and eyes, making him faint.

After a few minutes of laying on the ground, Koshin's body slowly died.

After he had died, his body quickly dissipated, a new Koshin then appeared.

"Grah!" Koshin huffed as he fell to his knees. He greedily sucked in as much air as he could; it was as if this was his first time breathing in air after years.

A few minutes later Koshin calmed himself down and thought about what just happened.

'Did I die? It had to be, right? But why?' Koshin then remembered that after the deactivation of Accelerator, he would take the damage and feel the pain he had accumulated over the time it was activated.

'But I didn't get injured, so why? Is it my body? Maybe my body is still too weak to handle me exerting myself like that' he reasoned.

Koshin stood up and massaged his chest. Despite the fact that the pain was gone, he could still feel a slight tingling sensation.

"Sigh~ luckily I can't die, or my journey would've ended before it even began," Koshin said in a tired tone. He wanted to stop after that experience but decided not to since he had to get a grasp on what his abilities could do.

"Okay, enough of that. What's next? Blood Clone? Sadly, I don't think I can use this one yet."

"Guess I can still give it a shot anyways," Koshin said as he willed Blood Clone to activate.

A black flame with a purple outline appeared in his mind. Koshin then focused on the flame, and an exact replica of himself appeared in front of him.

"Me? So that flame represents me, I see,"

After saying so, Koshin used the Omni Eyes to scan the clone but got the same status page as himself. "It's the same as mine," Koshin said.

Looking at the clone gave Koshin a strange feeling; he was used to seeing his reflection in mirrors and other surfaces, so he knew how he looked, but seeing another you in person didn't feel right.

He then instructed the clone to perform various actions such as running, jumping, punching, and so on. Its movements were so natural that if he hadn't been controlling it, he wouldn't have known it was a clone.

"Should I try to fight it? No, better save that for when I'm done becoming a cultivator," Koshin said as he made the clone disappear.

"Last but the least, using the Omnipotence Revolt," Koshin said wearily.

Sitting down in a lotus position, Koshin got comfortable before he began circulating the Omni Blood cell.

He felt nothing at first, but after five minutes, Koshin could feel the raw qi absorbed from outside settle in his heart.

Inside his heart, he looked at the raw qi, which was light blue in color.

'If I pass it through one of my Omni cells, it becomes Omni qi, but if I let my heart absorb it, then it strengthens my body and gives me the chance to become a cultivator.'

Koshin had learned this for the Omnipotence Revolt, but what he didn't know was that although the process of becoming a cultivator to him right now looked easy, in reality, it wasn't.

Everyone had an understanding of how to become a cultivator. First, you had to absorb qi into your heart, strengthening it, and then you would repeat that until you became a cultivator.

And, while it sounded simple, it wasn't. Most people couldn't become cultivators because they couldn't sense qi, and even if they could, they wouldn't know how to absorb it.

This is where cultivation techniques came into play. There were a lot of them, but getting your hands on one was rare. Some people were fortunate to find or receive them, but there was a catch: not all techniques worked on everyone.

There were some individuals out there who found or received a cultivation technique, but they later found out that it wasn't suited for them. Koshin, on the other hand, received a broken technique that was basically one-size-fits-all.

Not only that, he had the advantage of bringing his consciousness into his heart, which he could then use to control the qi he absorbed. This made it seem to him that becoming a cultivator was easy.

Letting his heart absorb the qi, Koshin then felt a refreshing feeling spread throughout his body.

'I feel refreshed, but that's about it. 'Maybe I should check my status to see if anything changed,' he reasoned as he pulled up his status.

"Just as I thought, there's no way just a few minutes of meditation would be able to turn me into a cultivator.

Looks like I'll have to keep going, hopefully, I can become one before I have to leave the Omni -Realm"

Understanding that he was on a time limit, Koshin sat back down again to continue cultivating.

Seconds, minutes, and hours passed as Koshin sat down. He didn't feel the need to eat or sleep, which surprised him; it felt like he was always full of substance and energy.

As for being bored, that thought didn't even cross his mind; he knew that he was working towards something special, so being bored was out of the question, plus he felt excited every time he saw the raw qi in his heart grow bigger and more vibrant.

'How long have I been cultivating? 'Maybe I should stop now; even though I'm not physically tired, I feel like I'm getting there mentally,' Koshin reasoned.

He next entered his heart and absorbed all the qi he had gathered. Upon absorption, Koshin's heart released a bright blue glow, which began to spread across his bones, muscles, and organs.

A feeling of euphoria then washed over him. The feeling caused the boy's head to go blank as he fell back onto the ground.

After a few moments, Koshin regained his composure and sat up quickly.

"Yes! This is definitely it!" He said as he looked down at his hands. He then quickly jumped up and began testing out his body.

A few minutes later, he stopped to think, 'I am definitely much stronger than before; it almost feels like I have Accelerator activated.'

'I should check my status' he thought while pulling it up.

"Tier 1 Infinitesimal State?" Koshin murmured in a questioning tone.

I know cultivators have different levels of strengths, but I have no idea what they are called.

If I am going by this, that means Tier 1 Infinitesimal State has to be the beginning stage' Koshin guessed.

He next looked at his stats and thought, 'Everything except [Mind] went up by 5, why is that? And what are these stat points?'

Feeling lost, Koshin tried to get the inheritance to explain it to him, but was left with no response. "Sigh~ Guess I'll figure it out myself,"

'Let's see, these are my stats which represent my body's limits, hmm, so what could these points be? A point? Can it be distributed into something? Maybe I can use it somehow?' he guessed.

"Place one stat point into speed" Koshin ordered.

A point was then deducted from [Stat Points] and added to his speed, which brought it up to 7.2.

Strength - 6.2

"A-ha, that was pretty straightforward. I guess this means I can put these into whatever stat I want,'

"Add one stat point each into strength and body" he ordered.

Koshin's stats then instantly changed accordingly.

'Should I even out my stats first? Is that even a good thing? And why didn't [Mind] go up when I broke through?

Wait, stats also represent my body's condition. Hmm, throughout my life, the only thing that wasn't affected by my body was my mind. Does that mean my mind was the only thing not degrading? That makes sense.' Koshin reasoned.

He understood that if anyone else got this inheritance, their stats would've been completely different from his. For example, a completely healthy person's starting stats would've been way higher than his since he was sickly.

'How long have I been in here?' Koshin thought.

He wanted to try out [Blood Clone] again, but he could feel his mental fatigue building up.

"I should leave for now; I have a lot of things to do and should rest before I get started," Koshin remarked before exiting the Omni-Realm.

Opening his eyes, he was once again greeted by his dark room. He then stood up and stretched his body.

'So it does work! Everything that happened inside the Omni-Realm affected my outside body. Luckily, it's only the good things, or else I would be dead right now,'

Looking around, he then used [Analyze] on the furniture scattered around the room before his stomach grumbled.

Grr~~

"Ah, damn, I'm hungry," he said while holding his empty stomach.

'I wonder if that lady is still up' Koshin thought. Looking around, he had guessed it was still night from the moonlight peeking through the cracks of the wooden window, which was situated on the left side of his bed.

Before leaving his room to check if the innkeeper was still awake, Koshin sniffed the air. "Something feels off," he said before exiting the room.

Koshin noticed the innkeeper was still awake and scribbling in her book as he descended the stairs.

She appeared to be a middle-aged woman, and her features were unremarkable.

Her appearance was the sort that made it difficult to single her out in a crowd.

She was dressed casually in a green and white dress, and her ponytail was held in place by a green cloth wrapped around her head.

Noticing Koshin's presence, the lady asked in a bored tone, "Still awake kid?"

Walking towards her, Koshin responded, "Yes, sorry to disturb you, but do you have anything I can eat? I'll pay, of course,'

Once Koshin arrived in front of the innkeeper, she pinched her nose and squinted her eyes. "Pee-ew kid, you smell worse than when you came in,"

"Did you kill someone up there? I'll have you know that we don't allow any kind of violence inside this establishment!"

Koshin was caught off guard by this exclamation; he had finally figured out the source of the uneasy feeling he'd had before leaving his room.

"Sorry, I wasn't able to bathe after I arrived in the city," Koshin apologized.

"Sigh~ I know it's tough kid, so the first bath is on the house, but you'll have to pay for the next, understood?" the woman said, looking at him from head to toe.

"Thank you!" Koshin said as he gave a deep bow.

"Okay, that's enough, kid; the bath is free but the food's not. All I have is some bread and soup. Is that fine?"

Shaking his head in confirmation, Koshin spoke again, "How much would that be?"

"3 copper, now go take a bath; the food will be ready when you return," The innkeeper said while shooing him away, she then added, "The bathroom is down the hall next to the stairs, it's the last door on the left."

"Okay, I'll be going then," Koshin said as he gave another bow. He then began making his way towards the bathroom, but just after taking a few steps, he turned back around.

"If you don't mind, can you tell me your name?" Koshin asked.

"Leah, don't forget it," the innkeeper said as she smiled.

Nodding his head, Koshin also smiled, he then held that smile until he entered the bathroom. ———————————————————————————

The smile on Koshin's face faded as he thought about the innkeeper's status.

'Clearly, she has something to hide. It's one thing to make up a name, but to pretend to be a middle-aged woman when you're only 16? That suspicious.

Not only that, she's a cultivator; I might not know the different stages, but I know for sure that she's way stronger than me'

'Sigh, no point thinking about it right now; I just need to avoid getting too involved with her' Koshin thought. He then took his clothes off and began scoping out cold water for the large basin to wash his body.

Outside the innkeeper Eris stared at Koshin's back until he disappeared into the hallway.

'Weird, I know I wasn't really paying attention before, but I am sure he wasn't a cultivator. Then why am I sensing qi from him now? Did he just break through? Hmm, I'll need to report this' she thought.

She then scribbled something else in her book before going to prepare Koshin's food.

On Koshin's end, after he was finished bathing, he circulated his qi around his body to dissipate the water, drying himself instantly.

"Too bad I don't have any spare clothes; hopefully she doesn't mind the smell," Koshin said. He then got dressed and left the bathroom.

Upon exiting the bathroom, Koshin made his way back to the front, where he found his food prepared for him on a table.

Looking over at the front desk, he then saw Eris gesturing for him to go ahead and eat. Nodding his head Koshin sat down, but before eating he analyzed the food just in case. 'Seems good' Koshin thought. He then began eating.

It wasn't long before he finished. He then made his way to the counter to pay. "Thank you again," Koshin said as he placed the three copper coins on the table. "No problem; but I'd advise you to get a new set of clothes," she responded.

"I'll be sure to do that," Koshin smiled

"Good, by the way, don't make this a habit, because I won't do it again when it's this late," she warned.

"I won't," Koshin responded with a weary smile as he scratched the back of his head. "Glad that is understood," she said as she folded her arms.

"Yes yes, I'll take my leave now," Koshin said as he hurried off.

Entering his room, Koshin laid on his bed and stared up at the wooden ceiling. He thought about all that had happened to him in such a short amount of time. The thoughts kept piling up as his eyelids got heavy; eventually, his eyelids closed, and he fell asleep.
