Chapter 4 - Desperation

——————————————————————

WARNING - This chapter contains a lot of information.

——————————————————————

Void Crow City, a city busting with various activities for the young, old, and in between.

Many people in this city were content with their lifestyles, but the majority were not. As for those who weren't? They resided in the city's seedy areas and slums.

And where were they right now? Either up "working" or off to bed in preparation for the next strenuous day.

In a shadowy area of the city, a small youngster laid immobile on the floor inside a dark room of an inn named "Ravens Lookout". An unknown amount of time had passed since the boy had last been conscious, but that wouldn't be the case for long.

First, his fingers on his right hand twitched, then his eyelids.

Koshin pushed himself up into a sitting position, "Argh, my head," he muttered.

He attempted to open his eyes, but the drying blood made it challenging. Grabbing the end of his robe's sleeve, Koshin wiped both of his eyes. Then, in order to focus his eyesight, he blinked several times.

The first thing that greeted him was the transparent box, but this time it had a new set of text inside.

———————————————————————————

Koshin read the first three lines but was left puzzled.

'Name, Stane Celtus? Whose name? Mine?'

'It has to be, right? The age and race match, plus who else could this thing be referencing? It said it had integrated with me,'

Feeling that he was right, Koshin could feel his excitement building. Why? Because his name was Stane Celtus. Celtus! That was his last name! As for why he was excited because of this? Only nobles had last names; didn't that mean that he was of noble descent?

This question got the boy thinking, 'Then why am I here? Maybe I was abandoned; if so, then it's understandable given the state of my body,'

This realization made him think of something terrible.

'This means I'll have to be careful; if these people knew I was alive, maybe they'll come back to make sure I'm dead,'

The thrill of being a noble vanished in the face of these ideas. Koshin then glanced over to the Status page while shaking his head.

'Stats? Hmm, I think I understand; these are probably the capabilities of my body expressed in numerical form. I understand what [strength] and [speed] are, but what are [body] and [mind]?'

'Is [body] related to my health? Or is it related to toughness? As for [mind], there are so many possibilities for what that could be,' Koshin reasoned. He then turned his gaze to the following line.

Looking at [Stat Points] and [OA], Koshin could only guess what those were, so he continued looking down.

He was even more confused when he got to [Cells] so he didn't pay it any mind. Koshin then began reading the next line.

When he arrived at [Cells], he was even more perplexed, so he paid it no heed. The following line was then read out by Koshin in his mind.

'Cultivation Technique, Omnipotence Revolt, woah, this is an actual cultivation tech-' Koshin's thought stopped mid-sentence. His eyes then widened and grew hollow, as if they had lost focus.

A plethora of information about the [Omnipotence Revolt] was being injected into Koshin's brain, from how to use it to what it did.

After an entire minute passed, Koshin was brought back to reality. He then held his head, which felt like it was about to burst from the pulsating headache he was experiencing.

"Damnit, why is everything so painful?" he said in a venomous tone.

Luckily for him, the headache went away just as quickly as it came.

Feeling the pain go away, Koshin's pained expression changed to a beaming smile.

He clenched his fists and thought, "This is it; my journey will truly begin after I use this technique."

'Alright, let's check out this 'info' thing,' he thought as he said "info"

The first box then folded, and a second one appeared with new information.

———————————————————————————

"So that's what they do!" Koshin said excitedly.

The information injected into his brain about the Omnipotence Revolt showed three cells, but he didn't know what they did.

All he knew was that he needed to combine one of the three cells with the Omni Qi in his heart. The appearance of the three cells was also revealed to him through the inheritance, but their functions were left unsaid.

'Woah, these effects are amazing!' Koshin thought as he stared dumbfoundedly at the text. He had never heard of anyone talking about what was given when someone got an inheritance, but if it was anything like this, then he knew he lucked out.

'This is my second time seeing Origin Abilities, I already have one, but how do I use it? Hmm, maybe the next section will have information on it'

"Info," Koshin said, a new box of text then appeared in front of him.

(How it works)

———————————————————————————

Koshin initially believed that he had lucked out, but after seeing this list, he realized this was more than just good luck.

He didn't know how to feel about these Origin abilities—should he be thrilled, terrified, or indifferent?

He always wanted to be stronger, but he had never considered or fantasized about having this kind of "strength."

Looking at the list again, Koshin thought of the absurdity of some of the things listed.

'Unlimited stamina, unlimited killing intent, 1 day equals to 7, blood clones, slowing down time? Are these real?' Koshin could feel another headache coming on as he couldn't figure out how these things could be possible.

After massaging his temples for a second, Koshin thought,' Seems like the [mind] stat is an important factor when it comes to the usage of these abilities. I'll need to be careful when using them'

Looking at the Omni-Eyes section, Koshin had a bad feeling about the 'extracting original eyes' part; he also didn't see a way to unlock the other revolutions of [Accelerator]. Shaking his head, he placed those thoughts in the back of his mind, as he was sure that he would figure them out later.

'The last thing is just a reminder of how Omnipotence Revolt works' Koshin thought. He then looked for the line that indicated to say 'info' for more information but didn't find it.

Koshin said the word "info," simply to try, but nothing happened.

Taking a deep breath, Koshin then decided what to do next.

'I should fuse an Omni cell first, but which one?'

Looking at the (Cells) list again, he made up his mind. He would first create an Omni-Blood cell. Doing so would allow him to use [Accelerator], [Omnipotence Revolt], and increase his strength.

"Okay here goes nothing," Koshin said as he focused on bringing his consciousness into his heart.

1 minute, 2, 3, Koshin was about to give up until he felt his consciousness being drawn in. The feeling was very unpleasant; it almost made him feel like puking.

He then opened his 'eyes' only to find himself looking at different cells floating around.

'This is exactly like what was described in the information I had gotten' Koshin thought as he looked around.

This fantastical scene was unreal with all the cells floating around, but what really caught Koshin's eyes was the black flame-like qi with a purple outline.

'So this is the Omni Qi,' Koshin thought, the flame-like qi gave him an esoteric feeling.

'I should be quick, I'm starting to feel a bit queasy' he thought as he tried to will the qi to fuse with a red blood cell.

He thought he would've needed a bit of practice to move the qi, but found out that it moved to his will like it was a part of his body.

A red blood cell was abruptly stopped by the qi, Koshin then went on to order the qi to consume the cell. After that, the qi shriveled and assumed the shape of the cell it had just eaten.

When it was finished, its shape was exactly like the cell, but its color wasn't. It turned all black with a purple outline.

Koshin observed the cell as it began floating around like the others.

'Weird and mystifying' were the words Koshin thought about while looking at it.

'All in all, it's still kinda freaky' Koshin thought as he willed himself out.

As soon as Koshin opened his eyes, he tightened his fist and noticed that he felt stronger.

"What the- it actually worked," he said excitedly, he then pull up his status.

"Status," Koshin said aloud.

———————————————————————————

-Status-

Name - Stane Celtus

Age - 11

Sex - Male

Race - Human

OA (Origin Abilities) - [Omni-Realm, Accelerator]

-------------------------------------------------

-Cells-

Omni-Blood Cell - 1

Omni-Cyte Cell - 0

Omni-Throm Cell - 0

———————————————————————————

"A 0.2 increase in all stats—most wouldn't feel that improvement, but I guess I'm so weak that I can feel it, and just as I thought, I unlocked Accelerator," Koshin thought as he clenched his fist once more.

'Okay, on to the next step, the Omni-Realm'

Koshin closed his eyes and willed himself to enter the Omni-Realm, and just like that, he was there.

One second ago, he was sitting in his room; the next, he was standing in an all-black area with gridded white lines stretching across the floor and ceiling.

'I actually kept my body, unlike before, where it was just my consciousness being drawn in,' Koshin thought while patting his chest and sides.

Koshin looked out into the distance but couldn't tell how big the place was; it felt like he was in a world that stretched infinitely in all directions.

"Incredible," he said in amazement, he then continued, "Now, where are these Omni-Eyes"

Just as he said so, two beams of light shot down from the sky in front of him. The beams of light gave the boy a fright which made him fall down.

"Ah!" Koshin yelled as he fell on his butt.

By the time he looked back up, the two beams of light were gone; in their place were two floating crystal balls, which were all black.

Getting up, Koshin looked closely at the two orbs.

"Are these the Omni-Eyes? How do I install them?" He asked, yet unlike last time, no reply.

Koshin then thought of something, 'Everything so far required me to will it, I wonder…'

"What can the Omni-Realm be used for?" Koshin said in a commanding tone.

"Guess that didn't work, mayb-" Just as he was about to think of something else, a box appeared in front of him.

———————————————————————————

-Omni-Realm Usages-

The Omni-Realm is mainly used for training, here are some other sub-perks of being inside the Omni-Realm

1- The inheritor cannot die

2- Qi can be recovered infinitely

3- Training can be customized by Inheritor

4- The Omni-Realm is completely undetectable to the outside world

(Explanation)

While inside the Omni-Realm, if the Inheritor is injured, it is not permanent and can be recovered by just willing it.

(2) Qi can be restored while training by willing it, but if the Inheritor uses up all the qi in the body outside the Omni-Realm, and wishes to replenish it inside, they will need to mediate to do so, or else it wouldn't have an effect on the outside body.

(3) The Inheritor has full control of all the beings whose blood they have absorbed. You can customize how the being fights, how many you want to fight, and you can even make them fight each other.

———————————————————————————

"I see, that means I can go as wild as I want and not have to worry about getting injured or dying, the other perks are not bad either," Koshin said, he then realized how he was supposed to 'install' the Omni-Eyes.

'I knew it sounded fishy, Sigh~ since I can't get permanently damaged that means I'll have to rip my eyes out' This thought made the boy shiver.

'Wait, can't I just command it to turn off my pain receptors?' Koshin then tried but got no response.

"Didn't work, as for ripping my eyes out I don't think I can," he said while looking at the Omni-Eyes, he then thought of the perks.

"Damnit, the perks, they might be crucial to my survival,"

For some reason Koshin felt scared, but he didn't know who or what he was scared of, it felt like he couldn't control his emotions, he was angry, anxious, and all little bit paranoid. His heart began to race as he thought about the future.

'This world, it'll suffocate me if I don't take every advantage I can get' Koshin thought as he placed his right hand over his right eye.

Koshin intended to remove each eye one at a time, but he then considered how painful it would be.

"No, I can't do one at a time; I'll do both!" He said through clenched teeth as he placed his left hand over his left eye and his right hand over his right eye.

His eyes began to get teary, it was like they knew what was about to come.

"Okay, Now!"

Koshin's fingers opened up his eyelids, he then pushed his fingers into both of his eyes with as much force as he could muster.

"Gargh!" He yelled as the pain assaulted him.

Feeling his slimy eyeballs around his fingers, Koshin yanked back with the same amount of force.

His eyeballs came right out of his head as he kept pulling. This reckless pulling, however, severed the optical nerve that was attached to the eye.

This pain brought Koshin to his knees, he then began rolling around on the ground while holding his face.

"Argh!" The boy screamed.

He however quickly clenched his teeth as he held out his hands, "Come here!" He shouted at the orbs.

At his bloody cry, the two crystal orbs flew over. Koshin then forced them into his gaping eyeholes.

The pain then instantly went away as Koshin felt a cooling effect inside his eyes.

Outside the Omni-Realm, Koshin's eyes under his closed eyelids began to mutate, his once dark brown Irises became void black.

Back inside the Omni-Realm, Koshin who was laying on the ground opened his eyes.

"The hell is wrong with me," he questioned in a shaky voice, he wanted power, but was he really that desperate? How could he do something like ripping his eye out his head? Why did he do it? Was going crazy?

"I- I," he was at a loss for words, he then brought his bloody right hand up to his face and just stared it.

Bringing his hand back down, Koshin closed his eyes again.

'Just a little bit of rest' was his last thought as his consciousness slipped away.
