Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 : Obsession

Liam was sitting down at a table in his private studio, his head buried in his palms and little mountains of crumpled up paper on the floor beneath him.

It had been three hours and the man had failed to write anything that sounded good enough, his head was foggy and he couldn't think straight.

Every time his pen touched paper, his mind would drift away to the night with miss Brookes. What was it about this woman that was getting him so whirled up?

At first he thought it was because of the physical attraction, the longing of her body. But now, especially after seeing miss Brookes at her job looking classy and elegant, he was drawn to her in a different way. He had the sudden urge to get to know her, to hear her laugh again and to have a conversation with her one more time.

He wanted to know what this exotic beauty was all about, why was the daughter of a business mogul out that night at his party? Was it fate?

Liam's thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of his phone.

"Hey, talk to me."

'Hey El, it's Rayan'

"Hey man what's up."

'I just wanted to run some things by you before the mettre ensemble concert, I'm doing a rain check on all the performing artists."

Liam got up and walked towards his window. "Yeah okay."

'Your manager tells me you're going to perform a new song to announce the release of your album, am I right?"

Oh that's right, the new album. That was not going great at all, Liam hadn't been able to write anything. Usually he was a very creative, lyrics just rolled out of his mind onto paper like it was nothing. That was one of the reasons he was one of the top artists in the country.

But lately, his head hadn't been on straight. He was constantly distracted and drifting off into daydreams. He couldn't let Ryan know he was getting distracted by a woman, it would ruin his reputation.

"Yeah definitely, you can count on it." Liam responded.

'Alright great, I'll email you the schedule later. It's going to be big man.'

"Yeah."

Liam cut the call and looked out his window and sighed in frustration. He had less than forty eight hours to come up with some hit song, what the hell was he going to do?

A random woman smacked her date in the face angrily when she noticed him ogling at the girls who were walking past them.

"You jerk!" The woman screamed as she stormed off

Ayaka Brookes and Alicia James were making their way through the city mall, turning many heads as they trolled by.

Alicia was wearing little denim shorts, sneakers and a baggy white tank top that matched her sunglasses. She had her red hair down and carried a little sling bag over her shoulder.

Ayaka was in a pair of boyfriend jeans, a crop top and sneakers. She had her hair in a ban and was walking around sipping on an iced coffee.

Alicia had managed to convince Aya to go shopping with her after work, claiming they needed new outfits for the upcoming concert.

Unlike the parties Ayaka usually attended, the upcoming concert wasn't a place she could wear high heels and shimmering dresses. The concert was in a clearing in the outskirts of town, there would be tents, stalls and a whole lot of mad, considering it was the rainy season.

"I'm only going shopping with you cause there no way in hell I'm sacrificing any of my shoes for that concert." Ayaka had responded.

The two girls stepped into one of the clothing shops and started browsing through the overly priced clothing.

"Two thousand bucks for a lousy T-Shirt?!" Alicia exclaimed. "This is place must be for the stupidly rich, I'm so excited!"

Ayaka chuckled at her friend's excitement, Alicia was very much capable of affording fancy clothes with her pay but she was too much of a cheap skate to do it. But when Aya offered to pay, she was suddenly allergic to cheap clothing. Not that Ayaka minded, she just found it amusing.

The brunette took a pair of black knee high boots and showed them to Alicia. "Now these I can sacrifice."

Aya slipped on the shoes and looked at herself in the mirror and nodded approvingly. "Just need some jeans and a leather jacket and I'll be all set."

"Set for what?" A voice whispered in Ayaka's ear.

The girl turned around and saw Greg Kingsley smiling down at her. "Hello beautiful."

Aya rolled her eyes at the man, was he following her around now?

"What are you doing here Kingsley?"

"I own fifty percent of this fine establishment," Greg responded, his voice emanating a sense of pride, "I was just doing my routine check in's when I was your beautiful face."

The man took Ayaka's hand and kissed it. "I thought I should come over and say hi."

Aya pulled her hand away from the tall male. "Thank you, you can piss off now."

Kingsley chuckled and wrapped his arms around Ayaka's waist, pulling her closer to him. "Dillon!"

The man at the front of the store scampered towards Kingsley. "Yes sir?"

"Get my woman here whatever it is she requires and send me the bill."

"Of course sir." The man responded with a bow.

Aya pushed Kingsley away and glared at him. "Your woman?"

"In due time of course." Kingsley responded with a smirk.

The man then shifted his eyes from Ayaka to Alicia and back to Ayaka again, taking note of the clothes they were trying on.

"I understand your secretary over here wearing such odd clothing, but this isn't your style baby. Is there an occasion you're shopping for?" Kingsley questioned.

"Huh?! Secretary?! Odd?!"

Aya had to pull Alicia back to prevent her from socking Kingsley in the face.

"It's none of your business Kingsley." The brunette responded.

No way in hell was she going to give Kingsley clues about her double life, he was a sly and resourceful man, he might use that information for his own benefit.

"I see." Kingsley responded with a suspicious smile on his face.

He inched closer to Aya and kissed her cheek. "I'll be going now beautiful."

Aya swung her hand towards Kingsley's face about to slap him, but the man grabbed it and lightly sucked her finger. "Save it for our date tomorrow."

The man turned and headed for the door, leaving Aya practically fuming.

"Dillon!"

"Yes sir?" The man responded

"You will take care of my woman won't you?"

"Of course sir."

When Greg had left the store, Dillon rushed to Ayaka's side. "Mrs Kingsley would like to try on more clothing."

"Shut up!" Ayaka growled at the man.

Kingsley was such a sleezeball, he thought he could just walk in and out of Ayaka's life as he pleased? Who the hall did he think he was?

Meanwhile, back in Liam Ford's apartment, the blue eyed man's phone was ringing.

"Hello." Liam spoke. "Did you find anything?"

'Yes Mr Ford, the lady's name is Ayaka Brookes, she's twenty four years old and is the daughter of David Brookes of Brookes logistics.'

"Anything else?"

'I did come across some of her social media accounts, but there's nothing of much importance there, just random pictures of her on vacations and selfies."

"Send me her social media links."

'Excuse me?'

"Did I stutter?"

'No Mr Ford, I'll send them to your phone immediately.'

When Liam cut the line his phone buzzed. He opened the messages and clicked the first link to her gramstar account. The man swiped through her different pictures intently.

That smile, that body, those eyes, those lips. This woman was absolutely enchanting.

Liam stopped at a video of Aya with a younger boy who somewhat resembled her. "Whose this?"

Liam clicked on the video.

'Happy birthday Sekani!' Aya shrieked in the video.

Liam watched as the boy unwrapped his present, revealing a new game console.

'Oh yeah! This is awesome!' The boy exclaimed

'But you can only play it on weekends, you've got school and homework on weekdays.'

The boy pouted and crossed his arms. 'Dad would have let me play it.'

The video ended

"Dad?" Liam watched the video again. "Is... is Ayaka married?"
