Chapter 69 - Fate, purpose and goals

Clifford, Archie and Carrot had another uneventful day on the ship, besides undergoing their usual daily training and chores, they spent the rest of their time honing their own specialties.

Carrot kept practicing the parkour and various acrobatic movements that were taught to her while Clifford was practicing his two sword style and movement techniques.

Archie spent most of his time looking over the ship for any faults or damage and afterwards began reading books on carpentry and ship building.

After completing her task for the day that had been set by Chinjao, Alyssia walked towards the direction of her ship after feeding the kitten.

Many things were going on in her mind but she still kept a calm face as she strolled through the streets.

Some thoughts were doubts about the path in which she would walk and if Chinjao was truly the best teacher for her right now.

Other thoughts were on on the fact that she had just killed several people all in one day, even if she had wished to show mercy her opponents seemed to take her mercy as a sign of weakness and began to act more fiercely in order to kill her.

Perhaps the various manga or anime that usually has the protagonist that beats their opponent, understands their point of view and then befriends them after mutual understanding is reached was not her way of doing things.

She was no Naruto or Luffy who could knock out her enemy and then listen to peoples sob stories of how they had turned evil nor was she someone who saved those who were in the pits of despair.

This world already had one 'Joy Boy' that travels the world and acts as a shining beacon for those in despair as a result if the worlds unfairness created by the World Governments system or the corruption of various countries or even within the Navy.

Luffy will travel, save those in desperate times and bring joy to them and that is his role in the world.

As for herself, she had no big plans on interfering too much with the story, various events may end up happening that would lead to the final end result as if fate was guiding the story forward to its natural conclusion whether it would be the fall of the Four Emperors or the World Government, the Celestial Dragons and maybe even the Marines and followed by the crowning of a new ruler.

The suffering of a country or an individual is important towards the sequence of events that drives them forward and then be saved by the protagonist, after that a crew will be formed, alliances made and many islands are supporting or coming under the banner of the Straw Hats to help them achieve the end goal.

Whether it is the fate if the world or the plot that had been written to drive the story forward, this was now her own world that she was a part of and she did not have much of a liking for the World Government as a whole but who is to say that the world will not fall into chaos after their fall or if it us stable, will the next rulers become as corrupt as the previous Celestial Dragons?

It was difficult to guess how things would turn out but most of the actions that Alyssia had witnessed upon reading the manga made her not like them very much, they had also put a bounty on various Minks in the past who left to explore so she could not forgive them.

Even Kano country's Happo Navy was one of those that would ally themselves with Luffy in the future so this was a sensitive place to be but she needed to be here for the various skills and training.

There was a limit on how much she could simply ignore for the progression of the story to be completed.

Pedro's death was one of the things that she wished to change along with the loss of his lifespan but there were also various side characters or countries that were only briefly mentioned or had an appearance which the protagonist had barely had contact with during his journey.

Her actions should not change too much to affect the various series of events but also let herself correct a thing or two and get a couple of benefits for herself.

Her goal had always been to enjoy the world and travel while challenging strong people, whatever she gets caught up in… she just had to deal with it when it came and would not force it.

The very idea of looking for trouble and being the central part of a power struggle or conspiracy did not sound good to her, Luffy and his crew were often lucky that many things had gone their way during their earlier travels that lead them to stop a war, overthrow a tyrant or save many people who had been trapped by a persons devil fruit abilities.

If she chose the wrong side, she could end up on the wrong side of a war or history, stories would be told about the great terror and devastation she had caused in many years to come and that would be if she had survived being hunted down as a wanted criminal.

Right now, she was free from such things and had built a slight connection to a World Government affiliated country and their two armies but right now it wasn't that strong.

Chinjao may have taken her as a student but he still did not out his full trust in her.

As a former pirate and the Navy leader of the Happo Navy who also had the trust of his king, he had a smart head on his shoulders and could guess that she had other intentions for coming to Kano.

What he did not know was that she had already achieved her goal but was now just sticking around to gain further experience under his teachings.

Many thoughts like this flooded her mind and she wished to organise them all one at a time as she walked through the streets when suddenly several chains came towards her from different directions.

Fortunately she had remained vigilant and was able to carefully avoid them as they tried to capture and restrain her, the heads of the whip also had a pointed end that would be capable of piercing or whipping her body causing a high amount if damage.

Before leaving, Chinjao had given her some advice that the lesson was not yet over and her guard should not be dropped no matter what.

She was a little confused why he said so but now she had figured out why..

Just because those people had given up on taking her out on the platform did not mean that they had given up their goal.

Often times when someone is high off their victory, their body relaxes and drops their guard leaving them wide open for attack.

After experiencing many victories, she would be feeling pleased with herself and on the way home, she would be vulnerable to attack if she was suddenly ambushed by many people.

Each move was either lethal or used to restrain her as the many chains were aimed to wrap around her limbs and waist while some were aimed at her heart or throat.

Many of the people wielding the chains stepped out with another chain whip in their other hand and began to become more serious in their attempt to kill her.

Alyssia saw their style of combat and then showed a look of anger in her eyes. 'Assassins.. and so many of them with such weapons. They wish to restrict me with their weapons and teamwork. Damn! I remember this style if combat.'

She had seen this used in various ninja or assassin roles being used against the hero in order to kill them.

Often one limb is caught by the chain whip and then they begin to work together to control the movements of the hero and then capture their other limbs and stretch them out in different directions.

Once they have done so and the hero is restrained or stretch out and no longer has any limbs on the ground, they send in several people to finish the job on the hero before they figure out how to escape.

However the hero quickly figures out how to wrap their limbs with the chains or rope while spinning to either break the chain or rope or pull some of their captors closer to them to attack before they can be ambushed.

Some assassins or spies of various clans in some martial arts based tv series would train while binding their limbs with a chain from different directions while avoiding arrow attacks whether they be blunt or pointed on the end just to gain a defence against such methods used against them and break free. [1]

This method that they were using was somewhat similar to how dismemberment executions were done but employed various battle formations and assassination techniques together so it was very dangerous if caught.

Alyssia was glad that although she had been caught up in her many thoughts, she still kept her senses sharp enough to notice the attack, otherwise she would probably have died.

She had no plans on testing out any theories and risking her life to see if their bindings can be broken out of and instead went on the attack right away while she had noticed the presence of some others nearby.

In the small platform, she may have been able to hone her martial arts but not her other skills that used her surrounding environment to her advantage.

Several screams followed as some people noticed the commotion created and began to flee to not be caught up in the fight.

She quickly dodges another series of attacks and lightly stepped on the ground to quickly appear before one of the attackers before they could pull back one of their whips or send the next one out.

A quick jumping kick was done towards his throat without mercy and then as she did so, she used him as a stepping stone and arrived next to his partner to kick him in the side of the head with just as much force to kill him and knock his body over.

Her other foot lightly landed on the other side of his shoulder and as his body was falling, she pushed herself to the last man who was standing in this direction killing him swiftly before landing.

Upon landing she fled away from their bodies and used the falling bodies as cover before getting cover near one of the buildings.

She disappeared from their line of sight and was no longer in the most dangerous place in the centre and moved forward to meet another opponent.

Rather than meeting him head on as he wielded a sword, she jumped to the side of the building a ran along it until she got close enough to push her body off the wall towards them.

She saw that they were about to slash at her so she turned her body in mid air and dodged the slash of the sword.

She landed on the other side of him after jumping over his head and was very close so hit him with her waist to gain enough space and then struck him to the back of his head killing him instantly.
