Chapter 1 - New Beginnings

I always gave everything my all, but somehow, things just never seemed to work out. I went to tutoring daily. Yet I got 50's and 60's on my tests. I played basketball every day, but I wasn't good enough. So I tried harder. I played in the freezing cold, I woke up at 5 AM to study, I even took walks in the midst of winter.

At some point, I realized I was talentless. I wasn't gifted like my brothers. I wasn't anything like my brothers. I could never score in the 99th percentile. I could never lead my team to victory, I wasn't even good enough to be the team captain in the first place.

Ah, procrastination was always a bad habit of mine. I smiled. After all, procrastination can't stop bleeding. That's right, there's a knife in my stomach. It hurts. It really hurts. The fact that I'll be leaving this world without having done anything remarkable.

"At least I'll be free"

I don't want to be compared anymore. Still,

"I don't wanna die"

The words left my lips without a second thought. I don't want to disappear. Nobody does.

"Please..."

I felt my body going cold. A single tear fell down my cheek as if it was the last.

"Huh?"

I'm alive... So where am I? This bedroom isn't mine. Marble flooring, walls shimmering with a goldish spark, paintings of landscapes, a refined mahogany bed, and...a sword?

Out of everything, the sword caught my eye. It was as if the sword was pulling me towards it. I crept over to the sword, staring at it for what seemed like hours until I picked it up. I'm not sure why I grabbed the sword...It just felt right?

*Tap* *Tap* *Tap* Footsteps? The sounds were near the door. Quickly thinking it over, I decided to hide. But before I could hide, he was there.
