I looked straight at the door, anticipating it to open. Instead, a young man in a black cloak appeared out of thin air. He looked to be in his teens. Pulling down his hood, he asked,
"seven?"
Stunned, I didn't reply. The moonlight shone on his black hair. His pale face wrinkled with displeasure. Still, he was handsome, I could admit that much.
"Seven"
His voice echoed throughout the room. Was the owner's previous name seven?
"H-Huh?"
It seems more like a code name.
"How long have you been conscious for?"
His face grew more aggrieved by the second, I had to respond fast.
"I just woke up"
A letter engraved with a goldcrest symbol lied on the floor. Walking over to the letter, I kneeled over to grab the letter. As my hand reached for it, he threw a knife right through the letter, sticking the letter to the floor. Exasperated, I manage to smile. Is he crazy? Yet, somehow, he seemed more irritated than I was.
"Do well this time"
He turned around, walking straight to the door. Going after him, I tapped his shoulder.
"What is it?"
"Who are you?"
Thinking back on it, I probably shouldn't have asked that.
"..."
He walked over to me leisurely, as if what happened next would never occur.
*Smack*
"Are you crazy?"
This bastard just stole my line.
"I'm crazy? You almost impaled my hand."
I shouldn't have said that. Expecting something much more than a slap coming, I ran towards my sword, but before I knew it, he tackled me. Mounting me, he spoke calmly.
"As arrogant as always"
"Ack"
Since when did he have a dagger? The cool blade inched closer and closer to my neck until I felt the cool blade against it. The dagger was directly against my neck now. He pushed the knife even closer, slightly grazing my neck. Biting my cheek, I resisted my urge to scream.
"I can kill you anytime I want to, Seven. You don't want to die now, do you?
With determination, I declared,
"I don't know who you are".
Silence filled the room, for the first time, his expression changed; he didn't look irritated, if anything, he looked confused. Ah, his expression is back to normal. Is he always irritated?
"If you're lying, you'll be in the gallows before sunset."
Looking straight into his eyes, I announced my innocence,
"I have no reason to lie"
Giving a look that seemed to see right through me, he quietly replied,
"Very well, I'll write you a letter informing you of the guild and your responsibilities."
*Tap* *Tap* *Tap* More footsteps? Who could it be? Seeking an answer, I glanced over at him, but he wasn't there. Where could he have possibly gone? *Crrrreeeeaaaakkk* The door flinged open, producing a sound similar to styrofoam squeaking. Behind the door came a young girl in a maid outfit.
"Madam?"
Madam? Is she referring to me? Well, it's not like anyone else is in the room.
"Yes?"
"Madam, you're alive!"
...Huh?
"I-"
Before I could finish my sentence,
"Madam, you're bleeding?"
That's right, he slit my neck.
"What's your-"
On the brink of asking for her name, I realized it'd be awkward in this position.
"My what? Besides that, I'll go get bandaids Madam"
Thankfully, she didn't pry any further. Mulling over what to do, I went over to the bed and laid down. The bedsheets held a silky touch, and the bed was quite soft. Whenever I got into bed in my previous life, I would roll over and stretch myself out. This life wasn't any different. Holding onto my pillow, I fell deep into thought. This seems to be the medieval period, maids, swords, daggers. The only thing I couldn't figure out was his ability to go right through the door. Then there was also the him disappeared into thin air. What he did was impossible, but for some reason, I don't think my eyes decieved me.
"Ahhhhh ignorance is a bliss",
I declare while falling into sleep. That's odd...I feel tired? I don't recall anything overly exhausting other than dealing with that crazy bas-I mean-person, but that alone couldn't have made me this exhausted. In spite of that, my thoughts were reduced to nothing, and soon my eyes were closed.
