Chereads / Rebirth of the Top-Class Artist / Chapter 5 - Incident

Chapter 5 - Incident

The choreography that the man performed was very complicated and aggressive. It had a lot of technicalities that were difficult for an amateur to carry off.

However, the man was clearly not a novice person since he could easily manage to finish the dance in an impeccable manner.

The video was only a minute long at most. Thus, it didn't take long before the dance came to a slow stop.

Kinsley's expression looked extremely bright as he silently complimented the man's impressive dance performance in his heart.

He watched him dance with rapt attention and was completely oblivious to how his arms and legs jerk from time to time.

A little while later.

Kinsley seemed unable to take it any longer as he reluctantly diverted his eyes away from the phone.

'This won't do. At this rate, I might start dancing to the rhythm...' he inwardly shook his head.

He then heaved a depressed sigh as he placed his phone on the sofa. He silently stared at the empty white ceiling and attempted to distract himself. No one knew what he was thinking at this moment.

In the next moment.

Kinsley stood up and decisively went to the kitchen corner. He didn't dare touch his phone any longer as there was a high possibility that he'd get tempted to dance.

Thus, he busied himself in the kitchen and threw this matter at the back of his head.

Just like this, a few hours passed unknowingly.

It was already 7 o'clock when he finished most of the dishes. He only had a chicken left that he had yet to roast due to the lacking spices it needed.

There was no way that he would roast the chicken as it was. Thus, after he washed his hands, he picked up his phone on the sofa and went out of the room.

He briskly ran towards the elevator and just happened to see someone coming out of it. He had no idea who the person was since he or she wore a black mask to cover their appearance.

Kinsley didn't care much and only gave the person a long sideward glance before he walked towards the elevator and pressed the button to the ground floor.

He was the only one inside the elevator. So, to alleviate some of his loneliness, he chose to lift his mood with his phone.

Kinsley frowned when he saw that Elliot still hadn't sent him any messages. He wanted to call his little brother but chose to do it later since signals inside the elevator were quite poor and unstable.

Thus, he opted to send a message to Elliot instead. He asked him if everything was alright and whether he would be able to come back home in time or not.

He was just about to confirm and send the message to his younger brother when he suddenly felt the floor below him shake violently.

Kinsley was startled. His eyes widened in surprise as he hurriedly looked at his surroundings and held the metal railings beside him.

He managed to recover from his surprise a moment later. He frowned and calmly assessed his situation.

'What's happening? Is there an earthquake? Or did the elevator have a sudden malfunction?' he silently asked himself in his heart as he vigilantly looked around the elevator.

While the floor below him continued to violently shake, the light on the ceiling suddenly flickered wildly before the lights inside the elevator went off with a buzz.

Kinsley felt a bad premonition about this.

"This shouldn't be a simple power outage! There must be something bad going on here!" he said through his gritted teeth and hurriedly approached the side where the elevator buttons were placed.

He immediately pressed the emergency button and waited for the response to come. But, no matter how long he waited, he still didn't get any response from the other side.

Kinsley became anxious when he saw this. He tried to exit the elevator with all means necessary. He tried to press the unresponsive buttons in an attempt to open the door, or tried to pry the unmoving door open, etc...

In the end, they were all useless things to do since he still didn't manage to exit the elevator no matter what he did.

He remained helplessly trapped inside.

The tremor of the elevator grew increasingly violent and this made him slowly fall into despair. He was in a desperate state. He could faintly feel his life slowly slipping away from his grasp.

But, there was nothing he could do about it but to grit his teeth and endure. He silently waited for things to hopefully calm down. He inwardly assured himself that maybe he was just overthinking things and there wouldn't be any danger to this at all.

However, how could things be that simple?

In the next moment.

The floor below him suddenly became unstable and moved down bit by bit.

His heart almost leaped out of his heart when he felt this sudden change, 'Am I really going to die here?'

This thought made him apply more force on the hand that was holding the cold metal railings. It went white from the sheer pressure he applied to it.

He didn't even manage to finish thinking when the elevator suddenly dropped and started to accelerate down to the lowest floor possible.

Author has something to say:

I apologize for the extremely late chapter update! QAQ

I just had my dose of the vaccine two days ago and had been feeling unwell those past few days. If not for this, then I would've already uploaded this chapter on the 27th.

But still, it wasn't easy at all! I had a hard time writing this chapter. (I chose to rewrite the content in this chapter since the previous one seemed irrelevant to the plot.)

I'm also sorry if you happen to notice the drastic reduction in the quality of the chapter. I'll try to recover as soon as possible... T_T

Happy New Year to you all~

P.S. Thank you to d_reen and Curmareia_Payne for the ps votes~
