It's the year 20XX and I'm right now thinking of a name for the baby. "What about Kai?" Vic suggested while munching on some popcorns. "No, he seems more like a Luca." Alex mumbled while looking through the clothes. "Man, how did you guys not find any shorts in my size?" He whined and Joel just shrugs. Rosh held up her notepad with a name on it. "Jun? It's a good name," Val exclaimed, I smiled while I watched him cuddling with the baby.
"I say we name him Arlie," Ria said, she was helping Joel dye his hair. "Blake sounds like a good name. Actually better than Arlie," Joel joked, earning a huge kick from Ria. "What about you, Val? Got any good names?" I asked Val who didn't seemed to pay attention to the earlier suggestions. "What about Arturo? It means strong as a bear which this little guy will be one day," Val suggested while tickling the little guy. "So what are you going to pick?" Ria asked still helping Joel with the dye.
"I think I'm going to go with Kai, its short and sweet. It also means warrior but all the other names were great." I said while heating up some water. "Then our little guy is going to be Kai. Adorable little baby warrior," Vic announced and snatched Kai from Val's hand. I poured the water into a baby bottle and put in some baby formula. I smiled watching Val scold Vic who was holding a very bubbly little Kai.
If only this moment could last forever but you know what they say, all good things must come to an end. I checked the temperature of the milk and when I was sure it won't burn anyone, I swooped in and stole a bouncy little baby away from some fighting twins. "Time to eat, little guy." I cooed and Kai drank his milk happily while the room went silent. I looked up to see everyone staring at us. Each with an expression of love, nothing could ruin this perfect moment.
The sound of shattering glass broke the peaceful moment, Kai started crying as zombies began entering the building one at a time. We had time before they could get to us since we were in a different room in the back of the building. "Guys, I think we got a problem." Alex yelled in panic while looking around the room for something. "You think!?" Joel screamed, standing up from where he sat. "Guys, we need to get out so stop yapping and think before we become zombie chomp!" Ria stood up and snapped at the two guys.
Vic and Val stood protectively in front of me and was ready to attack anything that came close to me or Kai. "I have an idea but I'm not sure if it'll guarantee everyone's safety," I mumbled and everyone turned to me. "Whatever it is, it should be better than all of us dying." Joel yelled and stood in front of Ria. "We should split up into four groups, two people in each. Ria go with Joe, Vic with Rosh, Val and Alex. We'll meet up in the next town." I turned away from them and quickly started packing a bag with everything I and Kai need. Val grabbed my hand and pulled my arm to face him.
"Are you insane? What about you and Kai? You two could get killed!" He yelled and I pulled my hand away. "If we go in a group, we're going to attract a lot of attention. And its easier for no one to get lost this way. Go pack the stuff you need. I and Kai will be alright so just do what said." I went back packing the necessities but I was pulled back again. I pushed Val away from me and finally looked at his face that I was avoiding from earlier on. He looked mad but also concerned, he gritted his teeth and looked down at Kai who was still crying.
"Rin, its dangerous out there, for you , for Kai. Please just let me follow you both." He begged and took Kai in his arms, Kai seemed to calm down and drift off to sleep. "Go with Alex, I can protect Kai and myself." I said sternly and went back to packing. "God, I wish you weren't so stubborn but that's what made me so crazy about you." Those words made my whole body freeze, my eyes widen. "You're crazy about me?" I whispered and pulled my hand again, this time I let him.
"I am, ever since the day I stumbled onto you into those streets. Everything you do makes my heart jump and the thought of you getting hurt just hurts. I don't want to lose you or Kai, not now, not ever." He confessed, my cheeks flushed instantly and my mind went blank. "That's so sweet guys but we're probably going to die now if we don't leave now," Joel interrupted our sweet moment. I grabbed the baby carrier and put it on.
"We have to go now, Val. Go with Ale, I promise that I will find you safely. And I also like you," I stood on my toes and gave him a quick kiss. The kisses lasted four seconds at most but it felt like eternity. "I- You- Kissed?" He mumbled incoherently, I chuckled and took Kai. I put him gently into the baby carrier. "You promised, you better keep your promise. I'll miss you both," He finally snapped out of his trance and gave Kai a kiss on the top of his head and placed another on my forehead.
"Rino, take this." Joel handed me his watch. "I'll be with Ria and you'll need one if you want to find us, keep it on no matter what." I put it on and gave him a tight hug. "Make sure to get back alive guys," I gave everyone a hug. I sloppily signed to Rosh to be safe which I hoped she understood but by her response I knew she did. She signed a small thank you and I picked up my bag.
"See you outcasts later, first to die is a loser."
