I didn't make a sound as I watched the giant white beast bump its head on the ceiling light and look around.
"What's going on?" Champ asked in horror.
"Nobody make a sound" Hannah said in a whisper. We were all quiet as we sat paralyzed with fear. Suddenly I heard a noise like something was knocked over I looked over to Champ he was standing up and the lamp he knocked over was laying on the floor. The beast heard it to and looked over to Champ. Champ screamed as the monster roared.
The monster ran out of the house and Hannah picked up the book it crawled out of.
"My dads gonna kill me" she said as she ran after the beast. Zack and I got up and ran after it. We had gotten outside when Champ yelled for us.
"Zack! Alivia"
"Hannah!" Zack yelled. She stopped and looked at us.
"You wanna tell us what's going on?" Zack asked.
"No I can't explain. I have to go" Hannah said in a rush as she ran in the direction the monster went. Zack and I went to run after her.
"Zack! Alivia! Stop stop stop" Champ said grabbing onto us.
"Get off" Zack said. I stopped and looked at champ to atleast hear what he was saying.
"Listen to me very carefully: that is the abominable snowman, you don't get that nickname by accident, and it just crawled out of a book, that doesn't just happen you guys!" Champ said.
"I'm going after Hannah" Zack said with determination in his voice. Champ looked at me desperately.
"Sorry I am going with Zack" I said to Champ as Zack and I ran.
"I read what it did to Pasadena! Its no joke, man" Champ yelled as he followed us.
We made it to the ice rink which is were Hannah went
"She went in there" Champ said.
"She's not the only one who went in there" I said as we walked in Zack holding the flash light.
"Guys, maybe we should call the cops" Champ suggested.
"Have you met the cops in this town?" Zack and I retorted back.
"Fair enough" Champ agreed. We continued walking making sure to keep quiet. We came to a wall with a picture of an ice skater on it, but the picture was ruined by long, deep scratches on the wall.
"Do you see the scratches on that wall?" Champ asked in fear. Zack and I looked at him.
"Yes" We said
"Just making sure" Champ said. There was a noise making us jump while champ screamed rather girlishly. Zack looked at him weirdly while I held in a laugh.
"Is that your scream?" Zack asked.
"Don't judge me!" Champ said defensively.
"Over here, quick this way" I said as I led them to the rink. Hannah was standing right in the middle holding the book.
"What's she gonna do read it a bed time story?" Champ said. We all walked next to her.
"Hannah, what is going on? How did that thing just pop out of a book?" Zack asked.
"Shh!" Hannah ordered "its in here"
"We should get a gun" Champ said.
"Are you kidding? We need a tank" I said to Champ.
"He's made out of snow" champ said. Zack said 'flamethrower' while champ said 'bag of salt' and then corrected his answer when Zack gave him a look.
"Quiet! He can't be killed" Hannah said. I noticed she was keeping a very close eye. Something colorful fell in front of us. I got closer and picked it up. It was a skittle.
"Its candy?" I said in confusion. I heard something creak. I looked up slowly and my eyes widened in terror as I saw a vending machine falling.
"Alivia! Look out" Zack shouted. I quickly jumped out of the way. The vending machine fell where I once was. After it fell the abominable snowman fell on top of it as it pulled candy out of it.
"Let's go, its distracted" Zack said as him a Champ dragged Hannah away.
"No! What are you doing? You don't understand the only way to stop it is to put it back in the book!" Hannah shouted with worry.
"Drop the book and let it suck itself back in!" Champ said.
"No I'm not close enough!" Hannah said as she finally got out of their grip. They kept nagging her to open the book but she knew it wasn't close enough. The snowman was now right in front of her, and she shouted 'now' but as she opened the book the snowman knocked it out of her hand.
I watched as the book slid across the ice. Hannah, me, and the snowman went running to the book and I got it. We saw champ on the thing the janitors use.
"Good idea! Punch it!" Zack said. He turned it on and it went extremely slow.
"BAD IDEA, BAD IDEA. GET OFF THAT THING!" I said. We got off and hid being as quiet as possible. We all looked up just as the monsters head had spotted us. The monster roared and we all ran over the an enclosure. I accidentally dropped the book in the process. I went to grab it but Zack told me there was no time and we hid in the enclosure as we watched the snowman get closer. We all screamed as it ran at us, but it hit the glass and slid down passed out. We all cheered but it was short lived as we saw the snowman stand up again and start trying to reach for us from the unroofed top of the enclosure. It had almost grabbed me but it stopped as he looked down to see his stomach disappear. We watched in confusion. When the snowman had fully disappeared we saw...Hannah's dad. He was holding the book and he looked angry.
"All of you in the car NOW!" He shouted.
I wasn't paying attention through out the car rid until I heard Zack say.
"You're him aren't you?"
"Hm?" Hannah's dad asked
"You're R.L. Stine" Zack answered.
"R.L. who? I don't know who that is" Hannah's dad said doing a bad job at hiding it.
"Oh really? Well just as well? Cause his books suck" Zack said. I looked over at Zack knowing what he was doing.
"What are you doing?" Hannah asked worriedly.
"I can't decide which one I hate more 'Monster blood' or 'Go eat worms'!" Zack exclaimed. "I'm so confused you see the endings coming from like a mile away. Its like, stop trying to be Stephen King man" Zack said as Hannah's dad stopped the car with a jerk. He turned around to look at us and said.
"Let me tell you something about Steve King, Steve King wishes he could write like me, and I've sold way more books than him, but nobody ever talks about that! Way more books" Stine finished angrily.
"Dad, your face is doing the red thing again" Hannah said trying to calm her dad down.
"Wait! That's you! You're R.L. Stine!" Champ asked. We all groaned at how slow he was.
"Can I get a picture" Champ said as he pulled out his phone
"No, no" Stine said.
"Come on the answers 'yes'" Champ said as he put the phone in front of him and Stine.
"I said no, what I- NO! Get that thing out of here!' Stine said angrily.
"I'm sorry I just wanted a photo real quick for my Instagram" Champ said.
"Oh is that all? Here let me see that" Stine said and Champs face lightened up and he handed Stine his phone. Stine then threw it out of the window and ran over it. Champ looked out the window in shock.
We got home and got out of the car.
"Wait what do we do now?" Zack asked.
"You go home, you put your PJ's on, get your blankie, you go Nap Nap" he said in a baby voice "Then in the morning this will all be like a bad dream" Stine finished in his normal voice.
"Dad, wait" Hannah said as she put her hand on her dads shoulder.
"There's no time, start packing, were moving again" Stine said. Hannah looked at us and I gave her a sad glance, partially feeling like this was our fault. Hannah and Stine went in their house.
"So, what do you wanna do now?" Champ asked us. Zack walked back in their house, I sighed and followed him.
"Zack! Alivia! Dude" Champ said with a whine as he followed us. When we got in the house we heard Stine and Hannah talking.
"But I don't wanna leave! I like it here" Hannah said to her dad.
"Hannah, you have to understand-" Stine started.
"I dont have to understand anything! Why can't we be normal for once!" Hannah argued.
"Because were not a normal family. Now go get your things" Stine argued back.
"I'm so over this!!" Hannah shouted as she stomped off to her room.
"Ugh! Teenagers!" Stine groaned. Stine stood there before grabbing a vase, turning around, and threw it towards us and it hit the wall beside Champ.
"It could've killed you" He said. I knew he acted grumpy but I could tell he was scared and worried for us I could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice.
"That was a terrible throw" Champ said. I rolled my eyes.
"What are you doing here? Go home!" Stine said.
"No, not until you tell us what's going on!" Zack said.
"No, no, no I can't explain it" Stine said as he turned around his back facing us. I was tired of this I needed answers and now. I walked up to him.
"Look, we were almost just eaten by Frosty the Snowman, which should be impossible by the way, so try!" I said. Stine sighed.
"Okay look, where do I began. When I was younger I suffered from terrible allergies that kept me indoors, and all the kids threw rocks at my window and called me names. So I created my own friends...Monsters, demons, ghouls to terrorize my neighborhood and all the kids who made fun of me. They became real to me, and then one day they actually...became real. My monsters literally lept off the page. As long as the books are locked were safe, but when they open well...You've just seen what happens" Stine finished with a creepy voice and a smirk. Hannah had walked in and it was quiet until Champ said.
"I'm allergic to dust mites"
"What's your point?" Stine asked confused.
"I'm just saying I have allergies to so I know how you feel" Champ finished. I shook my head.
"Why am I talking to you?" Stine asked himself. "Hannah let's go" Stine walked out of the room. Hannah looked back at us sadly.
"Hannah!" Stine called when he realized she wasn't there.
"I'm sorry" she said to us.
"Let's go, Hannah you grab A to M. I'll get M to Z. And keep the man eating plant away from the bug eyed aliens-" Stine had more to say but stopped. Zack, Champ, Hannah, and I walked in the room he was in and we saw a book on the floor.
"Oh no...not him" Stine whispered. I looked closer to see the title of the book it read:
'The Night of the Living Dummy'
