"Hello, Papa" I heard a raspy voice say. We all slowly looked towards to voice to see a ventriloquist dummy. He had brown hair, a suit, and some of his paint was worn off. "How longs it been? Feels like forever...Who are your new friends?" The dummy asked as he looked at us.
"We're not friends" Champ said.
"Yeah, Barely know him" Zack and I said.
"Slappy, its so nice to see you again" Stine said cautiously as he slowly inched towards the book.
"Did you miss me?" The dummy who's name I realized was Slappy said.
"Of course, I missed you" Stine said as he carefully reached for the book.
"So, what's the plan friend? You must have brought me out for something fun. Terrorize the locals? Destroy the town? Let's get silly!" Slappy said with a laugh at the end.
"You guessed it, Slappy. I'm going to destroy Madison, and I...I couldn't do it without you" Stine said as he was closer to the book. Come on grab it' I thought.
"Aw shucks.. You're giving me
oh what's the word..goosebumps"
Slappy did an evil laugh at the end of his sentence. I have to admit that was a good joke but he is still terrifying.
"Oh my, God. He's so creepy" Champ whispered and I nodded.
"Oh he is such a crack up, such a clever dummy" Stine said he had almost reached the book when I saw Slappy's eyebrows narrow.
"Who you callin 'dummy'? Dummy!" Slappy said angrily. A shiver went down my spine. Slappy looked down and saw Stine reaching for the book. "You're trying to put me back in?!" Slappy asked anger laced in his voice.
"No, no, no, no, no! Don't be silly" Stine tried to reassure him but Slappy wasn't taking it.
"I know when you're lying to me papa! You've made Slappy very unhappy!" Slappy shouted. My eyes widened this thing was horrifying! (Author: Also kinda cute. Alivia: this is a werewolf of fever swamp x reader get out of here. Author: Hey you wouldn't be here if it weren't for me I'd watch it. Alivia: 0-0)
"He's not going back on the shelf ever again" Slappy said as he teleported to the window. Somehow he ended up with a lit match and went to burn the book.
"No! Slappy wait!" Stine said desperately but it was to late he had already burned the book and thrown it out the window.
"I think its time I started pulling the strings in this relationship. Tonights gonna be the best story you've ever written, all of your children are coming out to play" Slappy said before the lights turned off and when they turned back on he was gone and had taken all the books. 'Wait the werewolf book I borrowed do I still have it?' I thought. I put my hand in the pocket of my sweatshirt only to find the book was gone.
"Oh thank God he's gone" Champ said as he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
"Oh god, he's gone...and he's taken all the books" Stine said the worry clear in his voice. We started walking down the stairs to the front door. "Congratulations, you've just released a demon. A ventriloquist dummy with a serious Napoleonic complex" Stine said.
"For the record, I only opened one book and now I see that was a mistake" Zack corrected.
"The snowman must have knocked Slappy's book down" Hannah defended for us.
"I still blame them. I don't like you two" Stine said as he turned around and pointed at us.
"Me? Why me" I asked. I understand why he didn't like Zack. Cause he was a guy talking to his daughter any dad would feel like that but I didn't do anything.
"Cause your his twin sister" Stine answered plainly. I rolled my eyes. I went to open the door but it wouldn't open.
"It's locked from the outside" I stated worriedly.
"Out the kitchen door, go now" Stine said as he led us towards the kitchen. We walked in but when we saw the door, we saw a garden gnome in the doggy door.
"Why is that here?" Champ asked.
"I don't know" I answered. Suddenly garden gnomes started coming out from different places in the kitchen. Once all of them were standing in front of us just staring Zack said.
"Maybe their friendly" right as he said that one of them threw a knife and it landed inches away from Zack's head.
"Not friendly, DEFINITELY NOT FRIENDLY!" Zack and I shouted at the same time. They all started running attacking each of us. One jumped onto Stine's face. Champ slammed something into the gnome to break it but it also hit Stine.
"I'm sorry I'm so so sorry" Champ said to Stine. Suddenly one of the gnomes tripped me. I fell my head slamming into the floor. I winced in pain. A good majority of the gnomes were on top of me each with different dangerous kitchen appliance's. Knife, fork, apple cutter, PIZZA CUTTER. They all tried to attack me with the different appliance's.
"SOMEONE HELP!" I shouted. I kicked some of them off me. Suddenly they were all pushed off me and Zack pulled me to my feet.
"Told you I'd always protect you" Zack said. I laughed a little, but stopped when I saw Stine being pulled into an oven with huge flames. We ran over and pushed the gnomes into the oven and quickly closed it and watched as they melted.
We all gave a sigh of relief but freaked out when all the destroyed gnomes started rebuilding themselves.
"We got to get out of here" Stine said.
"We need to get to the basement" Zack said.
"Its locked" Stine answered.
"I picked it!" I said back as we started to run to the basement.
"That's breaking and entering!" Stine shouted as he ran. We ran to the basement. "Watch out for the bear traps" Stine said. We all jumped over the bear traps, the gnomes getting snapped up and broken.
"Why did it have to be bear traps!" Champ whined. We ran up the basement stairs and outside, then quickly closed the door and locked it. We leaned up against the door letting out a long sigh and trying to catch out breath.
"Why couldn't you have written stories about rainbows and unicorns?!" Zack and I asked in unison.
"Because that doesn't sell 400 million copies" Stine replied with a as-matter-of-fact tone.
"Woah! Domestic?" Champ asked.
"No worldwide, but its still very impressive- shut up" Stine said angrily. I saw some ashes in the air and smelt smoke.
"What is that?" I asked. We all came to a burning book.
"He's burning the books" Stine said.
"Why is he doing that?" Zack asked
"So there's no way to get the monsters back inside, it's Slappy's revenge...Slappy's revenge that's a good title" Stine said to himself.
We all gave him an are-you-serious-right-now look.
