Chapter 3 - I’ll Foot the Bill for Everyone

50 million!!!

Christopher couldn't help but gasp. He had never seen so much money in his life.

However, in order not to embarrass himself, he pretended to nod calmly and said in a profound manner, "Everyone, you still need to work harder. However, don't be discouraged. I believe in your abilities!"

Hearing this, Pence was extremely excited.

He didn't expect the new chairman to be so understanding!

He immediately guaranteed. "Thank you for your trust, Chairman. We will definitely work harder and let our Target Corporation rise to new heights. We will definitely not let you down!"

Christopher nodded and said calmly, "Alright, go ahead. I have something else to do, so I'll leave first."

After saying that, Christopher got up. Everyone quickly wanted to send him off, but they were stopped by him.

When he reached the door, he found an empty place and finally couldn't help but shout excitedly, "Damn, I have money now!"

Finally calming down a few minutes later, he immediately took out his phone and called his good friend Tom.

"Hey, Tom, come out tonight. I'll treat you to a drink!"

Tom sighed and said, "Alright. I understand, brother. Wait for my news tonight!"

After saying that, Tom hung up. This stunned Christopher.

What's going on? Did I not make myself clear enough? I'm the one treating him to a drink. Why is he making arrangements? What is he arranging?

Christopher was caught between laughter and tears.

At around 6:30 pm, Tom sent a location over to him. It was New York City's Old Town Bar.

Heh, this kid had the same idea as me!

Christopher couldn't help but laugh.

Old Town Bar was the most famous and high-end bar in New York City. Every night, this place was bustling with activity. Most of the people coming and going were from the upper class of New York City.

Christopher took a taxi to the entrance and saw a thin young man in a hoodie and jeans with a crew cut already waiting for him at the door. When he saw him, the young man hurriedly waved.

"Hey, Christopher. I'm here!"

Christopher looked at his good friend, Tom, who was walking over with a smile on his face, in confusion.

"What the hell are you doing?"

Tom hugged his shoulder and smiled. "Dude, didn't you just fall out of love? I especially saved up for today and found a few girls to come over so that you can enjoy yourself. If you fancy anyone, take them away immediately!"

Damn, he was indeed a good friend. He was so thoughtful!

Christopher couldn't help but laugh. He didn't say anything and followed Tom in.

The lights in the bar flickered, and the music was loud. Countless men and women swayed on the dance floor.

Christopher followed Tom to a couch and found three or four girls already sitting there, chatting and laughing. Tom approached the girls and clapped his hands to attract their attention. Then, he said, "Come, come, come. Let me introduce everyone. This is my good friend. Christopher is a great guy. If anyone falls for him today, don't hesitate to take him home immediately!"

The few girls sized up Christopher. Previously, they were chatting with each other, laughing and talking about pointless subjects.

At this moment, Tom's girlfriend, Lindy, stood up and smiled at Christopher.

"Christopher, come over here. Don't think too much today. Just be happy and have fun!"

Seeing Tom and Lindy busy themselves for his sake, Christopher was touched.

The three of them had known each other since high school and had always been very good friends. He didn't stand on ceremony. He planned to get to know the girls first after sitting down.

Everyone was young, so they quickly got together, laughing and chatting.

The atmosphere was originally quite good. However, at this moment, someone said, "Sigh, looks like I came here for nothing. If I knew earlier, I wouldn't have believed your nonsense. I really thought that I could get to know a handsome, funny, and rich guy. Look at this Christopher. He's not handsome at all, and he's covered in cheap clothes. He's a standard poor loser!"

The music was not soft, but Christopher still heard these words clearly. After all, the few of them were sitting very close to each other, and the person who spoke did not restrain herself.

Christopher sneered and looked over. The person who spoke was a woman in a white dress. Her hair was long and wavy. She looked a little pretty, but her face was sharp and unkind, making Christopher feel disgusted.

He glanced at the lady and smiled. "Beauty, I didn't hear you introduce yourself just now. May I know your name?"

As he spoke, Christopher handed the wine glass over, indicating that he wanted to toast.

However, the woman in front of him did not seem to buy it. She rolled her eyes in disdain. She didn't toast him and directly drank it herself. After drinking it, she said perfunctorily, "Wendy!"

Lindy, who was chatting with her boyfriend, saw Christopher taking the initiative to hit on a girl. She smiled and leaned over.

"Wendy, didn't you say that you wanted a boyfriend? How about it? Do you want to consider our Christopher? In our circle, Christopher is famous for being a great person. He will dote on his girlfriend!"

Lindy wanted to be the matchmaker, but Wendy chuckled and sneered. "Forget it. The most worthless thing is the gentleness of a man who has accomplished nothing. Only someone with a net worth of at least a million is qualified to be my boyfriend! I'd rather be single than get together with someone like him!"

Lindy felt a little awkward when she heard that. She looked at Christopher, afraid that he would be agitated. He had just broken up with his girlfriend, after all!

Tom nudged her and pulled her aside.

"What kind of people did you bring here? If you don't like him, so be it. Why are your words so unpleasant?"

Lindy felt wronged. She wasn't familiar with Wendy at all. She came with her best friend.

Christopher smiled. He wasn't angry. Instead, he asked curiously, "Then, what do you think I am?"

Wendy crossed her arms and said arrogantly, "Alright, stop trying to strike up a conversation with me. It's impossible for me to like you. I've seen many men like you. Your monthly salary is at best four to five thousand dollars. You can't even afford a bottle of Dom Pérignon here. Can't you try to earn money first? Why find a girlfriend now?

"Let me tell you, I can't be bothered to waste my breath on a poor person like you. I'm way out of your league!"

The atmosphere immediately became awkward!

The two girls that came with Wendy hurriedly pulled her aside to shut her up. At the same time, they smiled and tried to mediate the situation.

Tom was furious.

Damn it, how could this b*tch say that about his best friend?!

He was about to flare up when Christopher grabbed his shoulder.

He smiled and indicated that he was fine. Then, he turned to look at Wendy and said, "Is that what you mean? As long as I have money, you'll do whatever I ask you to do?"

Wendy naturally did not take this to heart. She sneered and said, "Yes, that's right. The problem is, are you rich?"

Christopher laughed and looked at this materialistic woman coldly. He called the attendant over and handed him his bank card. He said calmly, "I'll foot the bill for everyone today!"
