Chapter 1 - Prologue

Dear Diary,

If you're reading this, quit while you still can. That Dr.Xander fellow made this sound easy: like delivering pizza. However, it wasn't. First day of work, I was paired with two others; a girl named Susan and a guy named Jamal. Jamal was a interesting fellow. Whenever Susan wasn't around, he'd always be talking about how smoking hot she was. I mean, he wasn't blind, she was a beautiful girl. Not the point however. Jamal would always be talking about something else. He never wanted it to be a dull moment. Susan, as said, was a stunning woman. Her hair long, past her shoulders, a golden brown that put average blondes to shame. Her lips perky and her nose petite. Slim thighs and a fine rack. She would smell like lavender and honey dew. After many runs we did together, our bonds tightened. To be honest, I wanted to try it with Susan, but I felt like she was way out of my league. Days later, Jamal told me how she rejected him, saying, "She said she was into someone else. Whoever that is." After hearing that, I decided that on our next run, I would ask her out.

"Hey, Doc," I grabbed my bag and walked over to the portal, "So what are we doing today?"

Dr.Xander walked in. The man was old, gray hair, a missing eye with an eyepatch over, and he wore a black formal shirt tucked under dark blue jeans he was wearing. "You youngings will be going to do a delivery today."

Jamal and Susan had also finally decided to join.

"Fo real! That beats recieving!"

"You got that right. I still remember having ti transport that Genogankeronis. I still can't believe something can look so ugly," Susan tightened her jumpsuit and grabbed her bag.

"And ferocious," Jamal tossed me bottle a water.

"So, what will we be delivering now Doc?"

"It's really simple my boy; you'll be delivering a young girl!"

I dropped my bottle, "What!? More details please?!"

"Yeah man! We've done delivered all sorts of organisms! But no creature with equal or higher IQ than ours!"

Susan smacked Jamal and I on the back of our heads, "He'll finish if you two shut up! We need to do this so we can get to school before it starts."

"Thank you dear. So yes, Jamal, you are right. The girls name is Dorido. Her race comes from the Fifth Sector in the 12 Quadrant," Dr.Xander gave me a device that looked like a gameboy.

"A gameboy," I turned it on. Powering on, the screen displayed a 3d analyzation of Earths surface layer.

"Close me boy, but rather I took a gameboy and made it into a digital map that works in the area. Since the environment has tons of electric magnetic interference. With my ingenious invention, it'll work off the disturbance in the air."

"Why's it work here then?"

"Don't ask me boy! I'm smart, not brilliant," Dr.Xander grabbed the three of them and forced then towards the portal, "Now, she'll be on the other side of the portal."

"We don't know where we bring the girl old man!"

Taking a last look at Dr.Xander, he then shoved us through the portal. Barreling out the other side, I immediately pushed myself up. Helping up Susan, I checked to make sure she had no wounds, "You're ok, right?"

Holding my hand, she smiled, "Yeah silly."

In the moment, we both had stared into one another's eyes. Speechless, it as though we were caught in a spell.

"Yo, lovebirds. We got a kid to escort."

Blushing up, I wildly threw my hands around and wrapped them around my face, "Lovebirds!? Us?!"

Susan also quickly turned, "Yeah, Jamal, you're silly. We're just friends, that's all!"

Jamal looked around while the we were preoccupied. The sky was a lime green and clouds were a light pink. Examining the soil, he grabbed some of it in his palm, "Just like dirt," dropping it on the ground, he wiped his hand on his leg and turned to view the environment. Curved tentacles extended out the ground with odd things attached to them, "I guess those are also like trees and those are fruits."

Standing beside Jamal, I pointed at a small hut in the distance, "You reckon that's where she is?"

"That or a fresh batch of weed."

Looking back at Susan, I took lead as we walked across the blue grass to the semi-circular dome. Reaching it, I pushed open the half oval door and peek my head in. It was one room. In the room, the floor seemed thin and yellow like hay. On it was a small girl. With tattered looking clothing, worn shoes, and a dirtied body. She looked up at us. Her eyes were green like Earth's grass, hair blue like our ocean put up in a ponytail, and skin like those aliens from Avatar.

"Hey, are you suppose to be the girl we're escorting?"

Without speaking, she simply nodded.

"Yo, if you don't mind me asking but where? And where ya parents at too," Jamal piped up.

"Dead."

We all immediately stepped out the hut. Huddling in a group, we put our heads together.

"You wouldn't think Dr.Xander would put us in trouble, would you?" Susan sounded frightened.

"The old man is crazy after all. I mean, you do know what his store is, yeah?"

I bit my lip. "Look, guys. He's an oddball, but he wouldn't have put us on a mission that would be to life threatening for us, and if he did," he pulled them in closer, "We got eachothers backs!" Glancing at Susan, I saw her nervous look slowly turn into a hopeful smile.

Jamal scoffed, "Yeah, whateva, but when we get back I'm complaining to that old man."

As you can see, we had immense trust in the old man. Because of that trust we built with him, when it came we felt even more betrayed.

"JAMAL," Susan shouted as I carried her on my shoulder.

"Kid! You better stay close!" Throwing Susan over into a hole, I grabbed the kid and jumped down after. Landing in a pool of water, I swam with the girl holding onto my back. Reaching the shore, a mentally unstable Susan waited, curled up. "Susan."

"He....He....he...."

Putting the girl down, I went over and huddled with her. Just like I, she was wet. The little girl kept her distance. "Hey."

She seemed as if she were about to cry.

"I'm here," I held her hands tightly, "We just gotta deliver this girl and we're home free."

"But not Jamal."

"Things happen that we cannot change. If I could, I would have became friends with you two before getting this job."

"Friends," she leaned into me, "Let's do this."

"For Jamal," I added.

Reaching the location the girl told us where we needed to bring here, we dropped her off, collected the money, and made our trek back.

"How do we explain Jamal's death?"

I looked at Susan, then back ahead of me. She was right. Could Dr.Xander get sued? I remember in the papers we signed, that it started that any injuries or possible unforeseen, futures, cannot be pinned against the company. "We'll just say it was a freak accident and we were horse playing."

"Oh," Susan sounded sad.

Wrapping my arm around her shoulder, I felt weak, "Huh," before long I fell forward onto the dirt. Being rolled over, Susan was shaking and shouting my name. Feeling something warm on my hand, I moved it into sight, "I'm....bleeding?"

"Stay with me! I swear, if you die, I'll die too!"

"No, don't," I placed my bloody palm on the side of her face, "Susan, I love you."

"Shut up! You're not gonna die!"

"It hurts, Susan," I said weakly.

With tears trickling down her cheeks and onto my face. Leaning into my lips, she sealed hers with mine. It felt like heaven. When she pulled away, I didn't want to die. I wasn't ready yet, but life wasn't that fair.

Bang!

Susan's body fell on mine.

"Looks like-" she coughed blood into my face, "-I get to be with you afterall."

I smiled, "Maybe we will all be together aga..."

Susan teared up more.
