Sierra went home as she had to inform her mother about the trip and take her along as it has been a habit. After her father was sent to jail, her mother did not get social like before and was always locked in her room. Let's just say, she didn't take it well at all maybe much stupid than Sierra who felt a void in her heart.
Her mother knew everything that the man has went through to maintain the business that he had and to secure his family. The mistakes done in the past needs to be paid in the near future as per old sayings and that was what the man had to go through. He was changing for his own good and for his family but his ill doings followed him longer than he thought.
"What could have happened if he wasn't into those stuffs? We would have been living a peaceful life some where far in the country side." This question and answer flashed in her thoughts a million times.
Sierra knew that her mother wouldn't let her go for the purpose that she has planned to go for. Her mother was always by her side except for that one time when she needed a person to comfort her the most. The day she felt alone in a world where seven billion people exist. It was all like a bad dream and she hated for making the mistakes which she could have avoided by listening to William.
The car stopped in front of her house, waking her up from the unpleasant thoughts that tangled her mind. Sierra gestured the driver to not guide her as she wanted to be in peace, to prepare herself. She slowly walked into the triple storied building which was made of rich marbles and expensive, luxurious decorative. The small bell hanging by the front beam kept chiming as the wind passed by.
She walked into the lobby, only to notice unfinished food placed on the glass table with a bottle of champagne. Sierra sighed, as she placed her bag next to it and letting herself free from the high heels which started to break the sensitive skin in her foot. She hated being like that, looking like a plastic doll but her job asked for it. From the over sized and baggy clothed flower girl Sia to the bold and captivating chick Sierra, the journey was not a flower path.
Since she had the same routine almost everyday, she knew where to find her mother. The time was almost four in the evening which means she is home quite early and her mother wouldn't anticipate it. Sierra walked to her bed room to get a package that she got for her mother the last day but couldn't give it as she was drunk. Her mother never stopped her from drinking because the lady, herself was finding her comfort in all the expensive shots.
Sierra walked through the narrow hallway which didn't end any time soon, leading her to the upper floor with faint slops. She looked at the small flower pots which were placed on the stand either side of the hallway, that was something she asked her mother to do to kill the boredom. She needed a distraction and Sierra introduced her to a lady from nursery and from that day, the whole house has changed to hanging garden.
She opened the glass door of their nursery knowing the lady would be either enjoying the beauty of her hard work or would be painting the pots. She walked to the corner where table is set, in case they need to talk something serious as no one would bother them in that space. As expected her mother was sitting by the end of the table, doing some paintings.
"I am here." Sierra spoke as she slightly smiled showing off the packet which she got for her.
"Another bottle?" she asked happily.
"No, it is something else but if you want it.... I have a favor to ask." Sierra joked as she placed the bag next to her before sitting at a fair distance from the lady.
"I am your mother." she groaned trying to steal a glance.
"Still, you need to do me a favor for this. Trust me, this is something that you would really love." She said pointing at the package again.
This was how she lured her mother since the past few years and everytime she did it, her mother gave in. It was not for the present but that was how Sierra's father lured her into doing well for exam and the daughter some how follows it.
"So Mrs.Gloria Harper need to accompany me to go somewhere for a short vacation."
Sierra always had her own ways to make her mom agree to something. So she was just going to hide the fact that they were going to Korea for the time being or atleast till they board the flight. Gloria still loved him, still believed that the boy did nothing wrong and that made Sierra more angry to the point that she left the continent.
"Where?" the question was shot right at her.
"It is a surprise and I assure you that the place is somewhere you would love to go. So accept my offer for your gift." she fake pouted and swayed the package.
"What about office?"
"I will ask Jessica to look into it for a week or so. I have already made the arrangements so get ready to leave by monday." Sierra kept the package next to her mother and ran away.
The package was nothing but one of the expensive sweater that the lady wished for. Sierra noticed her mother checking out sweaters from online sites but then ignoring it. Maybe she thought, wasting money that her daughter earns is not a good decision. Sierra notices every single thing and surprises people with it, something he taught her.
