"I don't know, whatever happens" I replied turning to see who I was having a conversation with only to find that I was just alone, the only presence besides me was the voice inside my head.
I stood up off my bed, walked to my closed bedroom window, glanced through it, there was light darkness out there, I looked up the sky, the lightening was all lighting up the sky as thunder kept roaring after every lightening spark. The loudest thunder roared as the rains became heavier, then I heard the car skidding and silence followed, I knew something was wrong, I quickly walked out of the house and followed where the skidding was coming from, at first I couldn't see anything until another lightning strike then I saw a car with the engine running, it hit the big tree by the road.
"Oh no, there is someone in the car, and she is hurt hurry up and save her" The voice inside my head said.
"Holy crap, shut up, I don't have time for you now" I said as I rushed to open the crushed vehicle, I got the lady out and the only option I had was to carry her to my house since the rain was too heavy.
She was unconscious; I laid her on my bed and called my doctor friend who told me what to do. After clearing the blood stains from her face, I left her to be alone as I went out and checked if there were any documents about her but there was none except her handbag which I couldn't open without her concern.
"You know she's pretty, right?" the inside voice started.
"Dude, can you let me focus for a minute please?"
"Am just trying to help."
"Whatever, I don't need your help anyway, since you don't exist."
After raining for 30 minutes, the sun shone and the sky was bright again, few people finally come out of their houses to watch and asking questions, my doctor friend came and checked on her as the police were taking care of the vehicle. We took her to the hospital but were told to come back later that day.
After reaching home, I went straight to the bathroom and got a warm bath, then had my lunch. After some hours, the doctor called me that the lady was awake, I quickly prepared some food and rushed to the hospital.
"Hey Madam, this is the man who risked his health to save your life" The doctor said. just after seeing me entering the ward, she was in
"Hey, my name is James, and you don't know how happy I am to see you kicking," I said she was all smiling.
"I don't know what to say but thank you, I feel like am from a long sleep, am Anastasia by the way."
"Ok, like I was saying, am happy to see your glowing face though."
"So, what happened to my car?" she asked.
"Is your car most important than you getting better?" The Doctor Joked
"No but at least I'm fine, so I deserve to know what happened."
"Is your vehicle insured?" I asked.
"Yes why?"
"It's safe but your life not insured" I said.
"Oh, I see! when are we going to get it?"
"Now before you finish that remaining energy worrying about something that can be replaced, waste it on something that is going to keep your energy strong saving your life that can never be replaced" I said.
"But I don't feel hungry" she responded.
"But you have to eat something before you make a move, at least your injuries are minor, and to keep you safe from being here, I think James will be your doctor at his house until you are fine, with my supervision you will be fine soon."
"No, I can take care of myself, am a nurse too."
"From which hospital if I may ask?" The Doctor asked.
"No, it's a clinic, a rural clinic I only came here because my boyfriend has been too violent lately, I was looking for fresh air at my elder sister's place."
"Where does she stay?"
"I don't know but the same road I had an accident."
"You told her you were coming?"
"Yes, but I did not give her specific time,"
"What is her name?"
"She said, to be fast, I should mention her teenage daughter's name, Amanda."
"Oh, that explains some resemblance, they are my good neighbors, and we are like a family" I said.
"Oh, thank you so much, it's been long since I last saw her anyway you really have been more helpful, and I guess that's my handbag with you" she pointed.
"Oh yes, here you go" I said while handing her the handbag.
I stood beside her bed as she went through her things.
