Before I get carried away let me start from the beginning. This began a few months ago at my high school. I was sitting outside the principal's office. I can hear George's dad coach Jones yelling at the principal. The man's mouth was like a machine gun. It was because of one little decision had been made. You see I had gotten a football scholarship just last week and now I was quitting school. He was furious enough to yell at the supervisor and the principal. The door flung open so suddenly that it almost fell off the hinges. Two very angry adults stormed off with steam coming out of their ears. Then a dark shadow loomed over me. I turned around and was met with an angry principal. He was so pissed that all he could do to stop himself from swearing was hand gestures. I slowly walked inside and took my seat. Mr. Poots the principal was beet red. He was trying not to use the string of swear words that the coach used. He spent a few minutes breathing loudly through his nose and then he blurted the following words, "Mr. Windsor you are making a big mistake. You are a smart guy. Why on earth would you drop out of school for? Do you know how many scholarships you are kicking out of your way? James Windsor, I want you to take a moment and please retract this decision. Young man you have a bright future ahead of you. Pardon me for saying this you are amongst the best in school. Unlike your brother who happens to be a felon. The only crime he has not committed is murder, drugs, brothels" I smiled, "I am a grown man making this decision of my free will. I am leaving this school and getting a job that requires no diploma. I am a practical person. Not someone who needs these lessons that I have to forget when I leave school. My brain has limited space and I would like to fill it with stuff that I can use till I am senile. So pardon my French but goodbye" I got up and walked out the door. The principal was shouting behind me but I chose to ignore him and serenely walked out of the office. I joined the legion of students who were lining up to leave school and go where their hearts desire. I got to my bike as the jocks shouted with joy to announce the end of the school day. The entire school heard rumors that I was quitting so they approached me for confirmation. Someone of them asked me if I was quitting to take care of a sick relative. Some thought I was nuts. The rest wished me luck. Either way I am finished with school permanently.
I came home to see five FBI agents waiting across the street spying on our house. They seem very angry so I asked them if they were lost. They told me that my brother had escaped prison. They are very certain that he will come here. I decided to help my brother by sending them on a wild goose chase. I was about to talk when pesky Mrs. Dunning came over. She explained that dad was the only one Steve used to listen to. So if they want to find the escaped convict. They should spy on him at his workplace at the lumber yard because he never comes here even though the records states that he lives here. I wanted to laugh but I knew I would get in trouble I kept a straight face. When they left to find dad I pretended to walk back home till Mrs Dunning walk back to her house. I opened the wooden plank under the rocking chair. I found the rolled up hundred dollar bills and some uncut diamonds. I quickly hopped into my Harley Davidson and bought a few things. A large water bottle, a few protein bars, a sandwich, a change of clothes and deodorant. I paid for all them and I calmly walked back to my bike. I saw that I was low on fuel so I refilled the tank. I had to be extra careful because I might get caught. I drove all the way to the rickety bridge in creepy Cottonwood forest. Afterwards I walked across it carefully. Some of the boards are termite infested so walking on them meant the planks would break and I might fall. This meant holding on to the ropes even more tighter. I think I have rope burns from gripping it too tightly.
After an hour of walking the trail I found the old hunting cabin where Steve and I used to hang around when we would go camping as kids. I saw that Steve appeared to have passed out like he was dying of thirst. I gave him the stuff I bought and he took care of the rest. He thanked me for the help and yelled at me for ditching school. When I told him why I left school he began to cry. Dad was sick and he can't pay the bills anymore. Dad was dying and he can't work long hours. To add insult to injury they are going to fire him. He is not as young as he was once upon a time. He has very little savings. All of which will go to his meds. Not to mention he is not insured. Steve and I decided we will go see dad in secret. We reached the bridge when Joshua called to tell me dad died.
