When he first met the woman in the crags where he found himself lying, he didn't think that she was that strange. After all, the place they taped in was near LARP-ing areas due to the vast properties that were too unstable for buildings. These people would show up from time to time to make their presence known… and to ask for Nico's autograph.
That was why he didn't question the woman's speech and appearance. He only thought that she was too deep into the roleplay that she didn't call for an ambulance upon finding him. However, right now… he was seeing something that he shouldn't in real life.
The white mist was filled with the frosted wind that formed glittering crystals. Nico knew that this could only happen in finished products… when the magic had been added. Right now… it was right in front of him. It didn't even look fake.
"What are you saying?" The woman, who called herself a night maiden, frowned. She felt like Nico stopped paying attention to her the moment the frost mist had shown up. Her knee then jerked up and knocked Nico back into the crags. "Nico Finch, what's gotten into you?! Have you really lost your mind?! What happened to you?!
"The Neo Nyx had risen, yes, but it doesn't mean that everything's over! You're still alive! You can fix this!" The woman growled and stomped angrily.
At her outburst and the pain of getting kneed in the chest, Nico pulled away from his trance. He then saw how the night maiden was oddly dressed. She was only clad in a dark blue robe that hid her body and that scanty clothing. Her costume was only a black designer bikini, but her milky skin was covered in tattoos as if it had become her clothes instead.
It didn't escape him that the tattoos were lighting up like her eyes. This woman… didn't seem to be human. Then… he figured she must be a druid of some sort.
Her hand flung towards him, and an ice bolt struck at the rock slab behind him. Nico flinched at the breakage of the ice bolt. He then took a look at her. "…I'm sorry… I don't remember you or anything that you are talking about…"
"Not remember?" The woman was suddenly frozen. Her eyes quivered as if her heart was stung. She was like a beloved wife that was forgotten by her husband after surgery. Then, her eyes darkened. "Not remember… good… then, that means you have forgotten about our deal. Heh, Nico Finch… I shall kill you now!"
"Wait!"
Nico gasped and tried to calm her down, but she summoned a staff from the ice that formed in her palm. She then charged at him and used it to stab him through the rock slab where he lied.
In the presence of danger, Nico's reflex and adrenaline activated. For some reason, he managed to swipe his right arm and summoned a sword made of light out of nowhere. In an attempt to block her attack, he swung the sword. A sword light arched and rushed towards the woman, hitting her directly. Her ice staff broke, and her body was propelled meters away from him.
When he heard her scream, he flinched again and lost the materialized sword. He quickly got up despite the weakness and the pain, dragging himself towards the woman. "Oh, my God! I am so sorry! Are you okay?!"
"Nico… you fool…" The woman only whined as she nursed her abdomen. "How dare you hit me!"
"I didn't mean it! You attacked me!" Nico tried to appease the woman who was doing better than him. After all, based on her change in behavior, she was just upset with him. They seemed to be close in this world; she might even be this destiny hero's girlfriend.
"Uhm, I'm sorry… I did something stupid. Don't worry, it'll come back to me eventually." Nico continued to lie, but his words attracted the woman's gaze and silence. It was as if she was asking him to swear on his honor. So, he did. "I swear on my love for you."
However, the woman only glared stronger. "What love? All you love is the goddess."
She shoved him away and only nursed the pain on her body. This was enough proof of their relationship.
However, Nico only stared at the rippling black sky. It seemed that she was not making things up when she started talking.
'I must have transmigrated… but the world isn't like those stories.' Nico blinked as he watched a reddish figure move through the rippling black sky. It was headed in the direction of where the crags seemed to have come from. He then moved his head to see that the 'cliff' was a rather tall wall. It must be the walls of this Kingdom Flonterra.
"Say, can we start with your name?" Nico began feeling his body again. It seemed that he was now healing. How stupid indeed for the original owner of the body to kill himself this way if his body could heal itself quite fast… like a game character.
"Frostine… is the name you gave me."
"I gave you…?" Nico blinked. He then sat up and watched her get to her feet. "You said you are a night maiden. What is that? Might shake my memory…"
At those words, Frostine took a look at him. She then smiled a little which made Nico lift his brows. What a very pretty smile. Then, she spoke, "Night maidens are the servants of the Neo Nyx. I cannot step away from my origins, but you have promised me that you will destroy it."
Nico then looked up and saw another reddish figure, albeit bigger than the first, rushing across the sky. "It didn't seem to happen. Where did I go wrong?"
"…I don't know. I wasn't with you when you fought the grand elders." Frostine walked towards him and reached out her hand to help him up. "Perhaps that was where we went wrong. I should have gone with you… but you refused."
"Hm, don't worry, I will remember that very important reason why I didn't let you." At those words, Nico found it rather problematic. It might mean that it might stay unknown… the reason why he failed. Then again, he was only in this world for a few minutes. He only met one person, too.
He then stared at Frostine who made a rather anxious face as another red figure dashed across the sky. At the familiar look in her eyes, Nico couldn't help but remember the young dreamers that he kept on helping. He couldn't help but reach out his hand and cup it on Frostine's cheek. She flinched and looked at him, wondering at his action.
Nico smiled. "What are you scared of? I have returned. Should we save the kingdom this time?"
