Chapter 4 - The Blessing of the Neo Nyx

Nico's eyes widened as he saw the body of the demon rose from the ground. It then roared and shook in its place as if it was being revived. The body only stood there, unmoving. It didn't seem like it would be leaving anytime soon.

Since it didn't, he just left it be… only for it to follow him around. Nico didn't feel any sentience from it, and so he just ignored it as long as it didn't hinder him from moving.

Soon, the other demons began attacking him as well, while Frostine kept the red commander busy as well as most of the elites. That night maiden was so strong that Nico doubted the fact that the hero only wanted to keep her safe during their last campaign.

At every strike of his white sword, Nico questioned the movement of his arm. Why didn't this hero destroy the demons and would only strike at the vital points to kill them? Moreover, the bodies kept on rising every time. That was when it hit him.

"It couldn't be that, right?" Nico only widened his eyes. He stopped advancing and looked behind him. Every demon that he had killed stood around as if waiting for something. It was scary… more when he turned to the enemy and swished his sword in the red commander's direction.

"Eliminate them!"

He didn't know what was happening, but at that command, the dead demons all rushed like a flood towards the others who lived. Even the red commander was shocked. The hero and the red commander whispered under their breaths: "Necromancy…"

Frostine didn't react outrightly, but Nico saw how she looked at him. It was as if she was devastated at the sight. She must have seen the tendencies, but she never thought he would do such a thing.

As for Nico, it was not important right now. Since it was already here, he decided to make use of it. For someone who lived in the cutthroat version of the entertainment industry, Nico was okay with most things as long as it would give him an advantage.

However, never had he caused one himself. After all, he didn't have to scheme against others. It was just maddening that some dared to make him fall through one.

These thoughts made him angry. He remembered how Frida, the actress that he was helping break into the industry, chose to make use of his death. He had yet to vent his anger on something right after dying and being reborn into another world… and it seemed that those demons were willing.

"Let's go, my deformed brothers." Nico only laughed out darkly. He ran to jump into the fray again. Through the connection given to him, he was able to find out the moves of these puppets and joined them in battle smoothly.

The coordinated attacks of Nico and the puppet demons made the invaders howl in anger. Their brethren were being used against them! With that kind of defense and raw attack power, why wouldn't this defiled hero do such a thing? It didn't help that the night maiden was also strong.

However, they saw a silver lining. As long as they kept the defiled hero and his mistress night maiden in here, the others would be able to freely hit the city! The thought soon became universal, and the demons shifted to delaying tactics.

"Frostine! Something's wrong!" Nico said so when he noticed the change in their formation and style in a snap. After all, his body was of a prophesized hero; how ordinary could his senses be?

"They think they can stall us!"

Frostine huffed as she realized that this man dared to speak to her despite his actions. However, she must have remembered that Nico had lost his memories.

She only answered him before directing her anger at the stalling enemies. "Do not challenge me, maggots of the hovering underworld!"

As soon as she said those words, her blue eyes glowed strongly. Her ice staff levitated in the air and turned into a ball of blue light. It then rained streaks of light at the demons, destroying them in just one hit. At this, the live demons were quickly overwhelmed.

Flames shot out from one direction as the red commander decided to unleash his powerful spells as well. He needed to get rid of this night maiden as fast as possible. However, he didn't count on the hero to be able to get within his arm's reach.

When the stark sword light showed up again, the red commander didn't have the time to evade. Nico struck a slash that drew a deep wound on the red commander's face.

There was no way he could pierce through the defenses, and so he did the next best thing.

The red commander cried out in pain and thrashed around. The sizzle of the hold sword was too much for the red commander to take. He quickly retreated, pulling out his forces from their post.

"They're retreating!" Nico didn't know if he should be scared or ecstatic from what he had done. He just moved around a huge demon that could smite him in a second. There was also this horde of undead he controlled, which Frostine blasted to clear her anger.

"Still not safe!" Frostine snorted and reformed her ice staff. She was supposed to shoot down the red ship that ferried the demons, but Nico ran to her and brought her weapon down.

She glared at him, and he stared at her with a strange smile. While they were looking at each other, a white blast fired from the kingdom's castle. The wide beam shot through the red ship, destroying its engine room as if they knew where it should be. The red ship showed signs of crashing down, but it managed to fly hundreds of meters away from the kingdom walls.

Loud sounds of rushing wind echoed as the red ship sunk from the height and soon exploded upon contact with the ground. Frostine was shocked by the capability of that white light. It seemed that the castle was able to find a way to shoot down the red ships.

"Should we head to another district, or would the demons pull out that one of their ships had been compromised?" Nico vanished his sword and placed both hands on his hips.

"Are we not going to talk about what you have done?" Frostine grabbed his collar and growled at his face. "Nico Finch, how dare you receive the blessing of the Neo Nyx?!"
