Devotion could not hold in his laughter any longer. He cracked up, instantly giving away his and Ysmir's positions along the walls.
Both Guff and the leader whipped around, facing the laughter. They found themselves face-to-face with Devotion. Each of them had their eyes widen in recognition: for the leader, this was the man who had told him to leave, and for Guff, this was the man who he had almost betrayed within the trial.
"You!" They both shouted, pointing at the same time. Guff's voice was out of fear, thinking Devotion was about to attack, and the leader's voice was angry, realizing that he had been duped.
"You-you stole that trial from us! Made me rethink my life! How did you know about my father?" The leader demanded, angrily advancing on Devotion.
"Hold on, let's not antagonize him! That fox summon next to him is terrifying." Guff put his hand on his boss's shoulder, stopping him.
