Chapter 4 - Mono-kouneli and the little White Crane.

I was chased down by the wolves yesterday, and now I ended up in some sort of mansion in the heart of the forest. Who would guess that there's something like this here?

That's not all of it. I met this young and odd Prince—dunno which kingdom but the butler is calling him Prince. They treated my wounds and scratches that I got to those ferocious wolves.

I gasped when I remember my honey taffy. I immediately checked it to make sure that they are here.

"Ah! No!" it is here but it all shred into pieces. "Uwaa~" I began sobbing even though I'm in front of these people.

"What's wrong?" the curious young Prince asked.

"My honey taffies are all in pieces," I complained while looking like a puppy to him. "I won this in the race—gave it all my best for it. I was even chased by the noble children."

"Honey taffies? Hmm…" the prince commented; he was looking all curious about it. Is it his first time hearing this kind of food?

I picked one of the pieces and shoved it to his mouth.

"Young Prince!" the butler reacted in such a panicked manner.

"Ah!" the prince draws a surprised expression about it. "What is this?! It is so sweet and delicious!"

"That's honey taffy for you!"

He doesn't know this honey taffy. Even noble kids know about this food. I guess, there's a restriction for him when it comes to food. I can't blame him for being so innocent like this then.

"Hey, Lorei?"

"Yes. My Prince?"

"Can you make something like this? I want to eat more of these!"

The butler glanced at me with curiosity.

"Erm." He cleared his throat, "May I take some of your honey taffies so, I can distinguish how to make it?"

"Hm. Please take some." I lifted my small bag where the honey taffies are. The butler took some as he smells it first. Is he checking it if it is poisonous? But I don't think organizers will put poison on it.

After he smelled it, he finally decided to taste it for himself.

"Hmm. The taste and its aroma are very familiar indeed. Alright, you two stay here for a while. I'll make honey taffies as the prince requested." the butler went out of the room quietly.

"It must be nice…" without any realization, I muttered to myself.

"Nice? Having a butler? Don't you have one?" the prince said while having that weird stare at me.

"I'm a slave. I don't even know if it's alright to be talking to you right now. It makes sense that he was very cautious when I gave you a honey taffy."

"Oh…" the prince was rather speechless about it. I don't know if he understands what I feel, he looks younger than me after all.

"What is your name?" he asked.

"Krahn," I responded. "My name is Ozciel. You can call me Oz; do you want to be my friend?"

He asked me so plainly about it.

"I don't know what is having friends feels like, and I want to know by taking a new step toward you. I- I may be a prince but unlike my brother. I am abandoned by my parents. My only family is Lorei."

I blinked a few times. I'm intrigued by his story. I want to know about it.

"Can you tell me why you have been abandoned?"

"I have a mono-kouneli syndrome." he quickly replied.

Oz was looking at me with solemn eyes.

"Mono…?"

"Monochromatica Kouneli Syndrome. I don't see any colours besides black and white. Even though you think I'm a normal one. I'm not very normal. That's why I have been thrown in this place to prevent people from knowing that the king and queen have given birth to a monster." I gasped; my tears were nearly dripping them I hugged him tightly.

"You aren't a monster! Just because you can't see colours people can freely call you a monster! Oz!" I don't know how much power my words are but I want to at least give him strength out of it.

"E-eh…"

"Silly. You know, I'm also different. I have white hair! People often laugh at me whenever they see me but I don't listen to their bullshits!"

"B-bull…shits?"

"Yeah! Exactly. Their pooped-mouth. So, you should do the same if you want to be my friend."

"That seems disgusting but alright! So, do you accept me as your friend?" he asked beautifully. "Yeah. But be sure you'll go to get stronger alright? Don't let people mock you. That's unacceptable."

He simply nodded at me. "Umu! I will be strong for my first friend!" both of us happily laughed at each other.

This was my first time having a bond with a noble person who is outcasted from having Mono-kouneli syndrome.
