In a white reddish-white Shoulderless cocktail dress and wearing make-up along with a series of jewelry that Nathan had prepared in the box, Clara already looked extraordinarily beautiful. She sat in front of the mirror with mixed feelings imagining the times when she saw Michael with Mia and now she had to be with Nathan.
'I'm sorry, Clara. I didn't mean to take Nathan away from you. I'm doing this to keep his feelings in for a while and to stay here so I can find out the facts you and I who we're don't know,' she thought.
Drett ... drett ...
Clara shifted her gaze to her phone vibrating on the dresser. She reached it and saw that there was a message from Nathan.
My Beloved husband: How much longer do I have to wait for you, honey? Why did it take you so long to get ready.. no matter how you put on makeup, I will always be fascinated by you.
Clara smiled faintly, then looked in the mirror. 'I don't even know what kind of make-up Clara always wears . . . but I hope this doesn't disappoint you,' she thought.
After making sure her appearance was perfect, Clara got up and walked towards the balcony door feeling pounding. The woman walked slowly, occasionally rubbing her hair which was falling just like that until she finally arrived at the door and immediately opened it.
"Welcome ... this is our first dinner as husband and wife," Nathan greeted with a very sweet smile. He approached his wife and then led her to a white chair inviting her to sit down.
Clara sat down immediately, looking at Nathan who was now also sitting opposite her across the table where the dishes were arranged so neatly decorated with candles in a white saucer, and red roses set in a white ceramic vase. The woman was a little nervous and was taken aback by what she saw. Nathan is handsome and very charismatic, the simple dinner is far from luxurious but looks so elegant.
"You prepared all this?" She asked.
"Of course, honey," Nathan replied, looking at Clara who was so captivating. "I cooked all of this for you... and I've only ever cooked for you in my life. You know that, right? And you don't have to worry about poison. There won't be any poison in this food."
"Nathan, I believe you ... without you saying there is no poison I will still eat this food," Clara said, feeling hurt seeing Nathan who felt too guilty. 'If he had known that the real Clara was dead . . . he would feel so guilty that she handed him the drink,' she thought.
"Thank you..."
Clara just nodded with a smile. Nathan took a small knife, then cut the chocolate cake, then pierced it with a fork. He thrust the piece of cake into Clara's mouth.
"Favourite cake from the best husband," he said with a smile.
"Yeah ... the best husband," said Clara then ate the cake. 'I have to be Clara,' she thought.
"How, does it taste good?" asked Nathan.
"You'd better taste it," Clara replied, then took hold of the small knife and cut the cake for Nathan. She fed her husband with a smile.
"Oh... this is too sweet."
"But it's very delicious ... it raises the mood. Chocolate is a food that can lift a mood," said Clara, then turned to glance at the steak, which was only available in one rather large plate. "You want us to eat a plate together?" She asked.
"Yeah ... Because that's what we're used to," Nathan replied.
Clara was silent for a moment then smiled and bent her face. "I didn't expect ... we have such a simple but meaningful habit," she said casually.
"What do you think is the correct meaning for the word eating a plate for two?" asked Nathan.
"Ehh ... the meaning is ... Everything, difficult or happy we will always be together. Sharing and supporting each other ... I think so," explained Clara as she continued to cut the cake, always feeding Nathan.
"And we'll always be together forever," Nathan said happily eating, then cut the cake and immediately fed Clara. Uh, they feed each other.
"Yeah ... until death do us part."
Nathan sighed, looked at Clara meaningfully then held the back of her palm.
"Don't talk about death... It reminds me of that scary night again," Nathan said with a sad look. "I was never ready to lose you... We just enjoy life by loving each other, not even thinking about separation..it will make us always plagued by fear," he continued.
"Sorry ... I just got carried away earlier," said Clara with a smile. She turned to look at the steak. "I want to eat your steak ... looks delicious," she continued to change the topic.
"Let me feed you," Nathan said.
"No," Clara shouted, preventing Nathan from holding the knife and fork. She turned to hold it. "Let me feed you. You've cooked all this with difficulty, so now I have to feed you."
"OK." Nathan nodded with a relieved smile, seeing Clara showing her concern. However, he still felt a difference but it was hard to tell.
Until for a few minutes, they eat together so deliciously while chatting. They enjoyed a sunny night, neither too cold nor too hot, even the moonlight seemed to complete the romantic atmosphere.
"Shall we dance?" Nathan asked after eating and wiping his hands, as did Clara wiping her hands with a tissue after drinking her orange juice.
"Dance?"
"Yes, honey. Don't you like dancing in the moonlight?" asked Nathan as he stood up.
"Uhh..."Clara was nervous again because there were too many things she didn't know. "Yes, I like it. And tonight the moon is very beautiful." She looked up at the sky.
Nathan turned on the loudspeaker available in the corner of the balcony, then played the weekend's song entitled "Safe Your Tears" with a slow version. After that, he went back to Clara and asked her to stand away from the table, right next to the guardrail. They stood facing each other, with the position of the woman wrapping her arms around the neck of the man.
"Are you happy?" Nathan asked, looking down at Clara. He wrapped his arms around his wife's waist, occasionally kissing her forehead gently while moving leisurely to the flow of the music.
"Yeah... I'm happy."
"You still doubt and fear?"
"No," said Clara, daring herself to look up into Nathan's hazel blue eyes. "Why would I hesitate and be afraid if you have taken good care of me? You don't have to worry anymore, I trust you..."
"But I feel something different," Nathan said angrily.
"What's that?" asked Clara.
"You haven't called me affectionately since you woke up after being poisoned," Nathan replied with a bend in his face. "At first I thought maybe you were mad at me or disappointed that I gave you the poisoned juice. I didn't mean to..."
"Nathan..."
"I'm haunted by guilt." Nathan looked at Clara sadly. "I almost killed my wife ... even on our happy day."
Clara let out a breath that felt tight due to the sadness on Nathan's face. the fact that she knew that Clara had died, made her feel hurt to think of the grief that man would face.
"I love you so much..." Nathan whispered.
"I love you too," Clara said with all her heart volunteering. she tiptoed then kissed Nathan's lips very gently.
Nathan also returned the kiss gently, with his eyes closed until he turned to kiss the crook of his neck. He hugged his wife very tightly, then carried her to the room. Hmm... will they...?
