Chapter 56 - Magical Beasts (Part 2)

"After the Cretan Bull was defeated, a trio of moltaurs appeared and put up a giant circular formation to contain the strongest monster, the Grendel. They did this as Grendel are extremely powerful monsters and any stray attack could harm the other Magical Beasts or a student or staff member."

"Moltaurs are very unique Magical Beasts. They have the lower body of a bull, but with only two legs with hooves, and the upper body of a human, just covered in fur, like a Minotaur. They main difference between these two Magical creatures is that a Moltaur has the arms of a mole and the face of one."

"They are incredible diggers like moles and have their keen sense of smell and superior hearing. Their eyes are also like a mole, which deteriorate over time, so they rely on their hearing and smell to attack opponents and find them. Their hearing is at a hyper-sensitive level, which allows them to hear the slightest movements in a 100m radius of themselves, which allows for quick reactions."

"These are highly skilled beasts which were able to compete with the Grendel, thanks to their exceptional co-ordination between the trio. Moltaurs only fight in trios of siblings, they grow up together and get accustomed to each other to the point where they can essential know what the other is thinking."

Most of the students in the room were quite surprised at this fact. They started discussing with their friends about how they would train to become able to fight like the moltaurs. The professor noticed this and didn't want to burst their bubble but had to give them some unfortunate news, "I can see that some of you are discussing how you want to train and form a team like the moltaurs."

"I will tell you now before you go off and do it, this is an extremely hard task. The reason being that most humans can't get to the same level as Magical Beasts and if you train together and can't keep your level of power the same, it will affect your teamwork as you will have to compensate for each other and could actually hurt each other."

"Like I said previously, the moltaurs are together their whole life whereas most of you have only met recently or you know each other but that still doesn't get to the level of the moltaurs. I will say this though," The professor let out a sigh, "It isn't impossible." Some face lit up once again, "But it is extremely hard and a long task, if you are willing to attempt it, knock yourselves out but don't come complaining when you fail."

'This professor is basically crushing their hopes now by saying when instead of if. He clearly thinks it is an impossible task but who knows maybe someone can pull it off. I don't have the time to waste though, I have to get strong, because in this world strength is the most important thing.' Marcus thought to himself while staring out the window.

"Okay everyone quiet down, we will now look at the last Magical Beast which was present on that day. It was a Phoenix." There was an eruption of excitement from the students. Phoenixes had always been in stories and myths which the students thought had been made up but to hear that one actually existed and was at their school made them extremely excited.

"Everyone quiet down and sit down. I will take all your questions, because I know there are a lot after I talk about the Phoenix." Everyone got back into their seats and tried their best to hold in their excitement, but Professor Nara only saw a bright light coming from them as they all had massive smiles across their faces.

Sasori was so excited as he had heard the generic bedtime story about the Phoenix and wizard. 'The wizard who wandered through the day and night in search of a way to gain retribution against those who had wronged him. He travelled across deserts and over mountains but fell down into a deep cavern.'

'While searching for water to aid to his wounds with, he saw a glowing red light coming from the end of the cave. He followed the light as he had no other options and what he found was incredible. What lay in front of him was a giant Phoenix, which lay in it's nest shielding it's unhatched egg. The wizard froze in place and didn't know what to do.'

'He didn't want to be seen as a threat, so he raised his arms out wide and closed his eyes preparing for the inevitable, but what happened next surprised him. He felt a warmth seep into his body and travel to all the injuries he had sustained and soothed them. He opened his eyes to see the open wounds close in seconds.'

'He felt no more pain and was fully energised. He looked down at his chest and saw an orange light coming out of his body and connect to the outstretched wing of the Phoenix. He got down on his knees and placed his head on the ground thanking the Phoenix for being so generous. He begged for the teachings of the Phoenix but was refused multiple times.'

'He stayed day and night until the egg hatched, and a new Phoenix was born. It had darker feathers then it's mother but that didn't bother either. The Phoenix then agreed to help the man and taught him for a month. He then left the cave without returning or disclosing it's location and won against his foes. On the day of the man's death a Phoenix feather fell down onto his lap.'

'He could only smile as he passed on, knowing that the Phoenix had been watching him all that time.' This story was well known because the man wrote it before he died, but no one believed him as Phoenixes were very rare and extremely dangerous but for the students to now know there was one near by was mind blowing.

"Right then, now that everyone is semi-calmed down, I will show you the fight the Phoenix had with the monsters." Professor Nara put down a projecting stone which had the stored footage from the security cameras. They all watched with intensity as the Phoenix appeared on top of the encirclement that the Grendel was in after it had annihilated the entire monster army.

The students eyes lit up in awe of what they were witnessing. The Phoenix fought the Grendel briefly but to the students it seemed as if it went on forever as they absorbed every detail in the projection. Once the fight was over the projection stopped and Professor Nara stood in front of the students once again.

"I would like to continue but it doesn't look like you will be concentrating so, we will then have a half an hour break and then we will continue with monsters." Everyone jumped out their seats and immediately started talking about the Phoenix and it's fight like they knew it personally and they witnessed the fight live.
