Chapter 51 - Special Chapter: Father!

*Special Chapter: Father's Day 2022*

"Oh, but I love my father."

And yet...

Remelia says that as she continues working on the voodoo doll from yesterday. On top of its head, is a small torn paper with dried red inks (mosquito blood as she proclaims.) it is written: Dracula Count. Her father.

You know, I could just ignore this like yesterday but—

Her lips tighten as her red eyes scan the whole doll again. "I think I'm done here. Now to the execution."

I think she's trying to kill her beloved father.

Does that mean she thinks Dracula is still alive?

I put down my book on the table and play along with her for a while. "But you're making a voodoo doll of him. Unless there's some unknown to me way of showing love for your kind? Is this it?"

"True. This is it." She puts the doll on the table with a smirk. Her hands rub together as if she's an evil villain (ironically,) "How does this work again? Put something sharp in its chest and your target will instantly die?"

Her sharp nail raises up in the air.

"Die, Father!"

As the vampire knife dives deep into its chest, the doll twitches.

Just a second ago she said she loved his father and now her face is beyond happy trying to kill his father.

But her excitement slowly runs out, and confusion fills her face. "Hm, I've spent hours working on this but a thought never occurs to me. Will this work? Is my father dead now?"

She looks at me, "Am I the best vampire there is now?"

"How'd I know… Are you really trying to kill him now?"

Remelia raises her eyebrow, "What's there hard to believe?"

"I don't think you want to kill someone you love. Well, normally that's the case."

She snorts as she flaps her white hair, "Hah, unless it makes him proud."

The silence from me encourages her to explain, "That's our job, as of their children, isn't it? They want to see us grow. What is a bigger achievement than to be the very person who takes his life?"

When she finished, the voodoo doll on the table made a noise. A cracking noise.

Of… fire?

Broom—

Woah!

Remlia flies away from the table, "What the hell is going on?"

I have to put my arm on my face before I can see. The surface of the table is on fire now.

And my book.

AND MY BOOK!

Remelia sways her hand and a gust blows the fire off.

Whoosh.

The 'wooden goldy' table is okay but not the two things on it. There are only ashes now. No book. No doll. No book.

"That's my favorite book…"

Remelia bites her lip, "That didn't go as planned. There was a failure here."

No shit.

But then she smiles, "YET this is just proving I have to try harder. Next time, I will kill him for sure."

And next time, she will put this whole room on fire.

I sigh, looking at the vampire floating around the room, searching for another way to take his father's life from this distance.

It's just sad that she doesn't really know how to do it. Just like she doesn't know why the voodoo doll went into fire.

Her father… is not in this world anymore.

Knock knock.

Before I open the door, I make sure Remelia is on the ground first. When she is, I open the door only to see a box.

A note on top of it:

From: I4u

To: Daddy

P.S. This is not a suspicious but a doki doki box. Just for the man in the room.

P.S.S If you're reading this, please open the box already.

P.S.S.S it's hot in here. Please, Sensei.

Box opened.

Nelia springs out in her school uniform with her brightest smile. Her hand embraces the neck as she says, "Oh, happy Daddy Day!"

But then she soon realizes it wasn't a neck of a man. Or me who opened it.

It was Ayane.

The sharp eyes of the tip of an ice star.

A gulp can be heard.

"Er… Hello. I'm just going back in the box then… Haha…" Slowly Nelia cowers back in the box.

Ayane gives me a look.

What? I didn't do anything wrong?

I… er… I point at the box, "You can take that I guess?"

"Thank you, I'll make sure to send IT to my late father."

I sigh. Maybe I should write a letter to my father too. 'Dear father, can I just see you once in my life? Just curious.'
