As the night drew on, my mind wandered to a curious exorcist tale I had once read - one of the most peculiar I had ever come across. It was famous, yes, but for good reason, as it challenged the very notion that vampires could not be exorcised.
This tale, known as Blood Romance, detailed the death of the first vampire - a female who perished at the hands of her own lover during a soul bond ritual. A soul bond was a sacred pact that bound two beings together for life. Here, it was a pact made of love, a desire to be together forever. But the problem was that vampires do not age, and through the soul bond, her partner would never die as long as she was alive. They were immortal.
To seal the pact, the vampire gave a strand of her hair, a sacred part of her remains, to the grim reaper. The couple was lucky, but their happiness was not shared by everyone. The Exorcist world viewed them as a threat, and countermeasures were taken by the Highest and Master.
The records of their demise were vague, as if intentionally hidden. The only certainty was that both the human and the vampire died. What surprised me the most was that the vampire died like a human woman, without evaporating like other hellish creatures. She was flesh, bones, and emotions - sad and angry, no longer a vampire. The manner in which they achieved this feat remains a mystery, but I couldn't shake the feeling that someone had gone to great lengths to conceal it.
I wonder if this is the only way to kill a vampire without destroying half the world in the process. Both of our power is enough just to do that.
