A familiar face appeared as I opened the door. It was my senior from my university, Emily. We both pursue our interests from the same department, though, while she is in her junior year, I'm just a sophomore. I've seen her around the campus, but we've never spoken. Even more, the reason why I was surprised to find her in front of my door at this point in time.
I instantly closed the door. I heard a few knocks at a brisk pace. I slightly opened the door, to find a face that read "You've done it", and instantly closed it again. The scary aura was something else. Like a character from some western animated TV shows, I gulped for a moment. I was sure that this was rude behavior from my end. Certainly, to just shove the door right into their face, especially when it's a woman, at this time, was not the right thing to do. She might have got lost, or she might've been in danger. I had to know for sure what her circumstances were to meet me at this point in time.
I cleared up my throat. I unlatched the door halfway, took a look at her, and asked her, "How can I help you?", to which she exchanged a look at me, which meant "Seriously?". I sighed, and replied, "I think you got the wrong room.", clearly my whole misunderstanding, I decided to close the door for good this time, before something blocked the door. A foot set itself between the door and the hallway stopping the door from closing. Then, all of a sudden, the door which I loosely held opened up, and in came Ms. Emily.
On such a night, where the full moon was covered by the dark clouds, and one could only see glimpses of its shine, at a time where one part of the world slept, with the silence filling in the atmosphere, the white angel entered my flat. I wasn't sure whether I was half-asleep or whether this was a dream?
She closed the door, and removed her footwear, and placed it near the shoe rack that I had barely filled. She then started moving closer to me, and I started taking a step back, followed by another, and so on, until we reached the living room. She then stopped and took a look at the room, only to start walking towards me at a faster pace than usual. I too moved back at a faster pace but with the small carpet area that this modest studio apartment had, I soon reached the dead end and tumbled across the couch. That one slip-up was enough for her to catch me.
Soon, we were staring at each other. She then started waving her hand across my eyes. "Um...Excuse me, what's up with you? You just barged into my flat and after what you've done, now you're just waving your hand. What's your problem?"
She then placed her hand near her chest and placed her other hand near my chest. "Hey, I'm talking..."; my head suddenly started to pain. I could see vivid memories of her and me, circling around me at a faster rate, and ever so slightly increasing. At some conjecture, I had regained my memories, and since it was too much, it had come with a lot of pain, a small price to pay.
She now looked at me and waved her arm. I just stared at her, dumbfounded. I caught her hand. "Welcome back", she replied, releasing her arm from my clutch. Welcome back? What did she mean? I never...Now that I think about it, all the memories of worrying about her made me feel so bad. Ugh! I just want to kill myself now. Put me in a coffin already!
I just laid down on the floor for a while, while she looked at me for a moment, before moving around inside my personal space. Not that I didn't have objections with it, right now, in this state, I just didn't want to move. She seemed to have completed her routine checkup, when she, all of a sudden, decided to sit next to me. Oi! There's a couch, a couch!
I quickly got up and prevented her from sitting down below with me. "I'm sorry Princess, but I can't allow you to sit down with me. There's a clear difference between you and me", I said, though, all of this with a cold demeanor. I really couldn't care if she was a demon, or a princess or anything, just don't sit near me. It isn't that I hate you by any means whatsoever, but I'd like people to value my privacy. I don't like my private space to have encroached.
She picked up on that very signal, and sat on top of the cough, with her legs crossed. Look, I have no ill intentions! Compared to her reserved look at college, she went all out here, with denim jeans, a T-shirt, and a bomber jacket. Plus, tied her hair up, so that was a significant change. She was what one you refer to as a model. Anyway, not that I was interested under any means...
"So, what happened? I assume you have come here to continue talking, isn't it?"
"Yes, it appears so. We do have unfinished business."
"Before that, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"That time dome, does it have an effect on your memory? When I entered the rooftop, I assume that the dome was already present but wasn't activated, so it was just like any normal space. Until the point, you showed up. And then, there was a catastrophic change that just lead to whatever happened next, am I wrong?"
She just stayed quiet and looked at me for a while. She later sighed, "Yes, I would believe so", she replied, in a gentle voice.
"So, does that mean that whatever happens now will also fade away, since I believe we are in a time zone?"
"Normally, yes. But now, we aren't in one. Why? That's none of your concern. But, I will tell you this."
