MYTHOLOGIES!
A concept that has long preceded with changing times and with the evolution of humans. A subject I never cared too much about. Be it the Norse mythology and the Concept of Valhalla. Greek mythology with their concept of gods such as Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Apollo and Athena, and many more. Basically, the 12 or so gods, which I believe were known as the 12 Olympians.
How did I know this if I never knew cared for it? I guess I have to thank Marcus for this. He would go on about these mythologies for an excruciating amount of time to the point where I don't even remember who I was anymore. It went to such an extent. But that wasn't the end of it, apparently, there was more.
He briefly explained to me the concept of the Greek mythological monsters. Some of the well-renowned ones like Chimeras, Sphinx, and Sirens. Plus, the most well-known Greek monster, Cerberus. Speaking of which, he seemed to be very interested in Hades. To an alarming and concerning rate.
While I was already lost at this point, what blew me away was the Gothic mythology. The existence of werewolves, Frankenstein, and most possibly, the most astounding creatures of them all, Vampires! The way they envisioned, depicted, and documented them in great detail was so amusing that I was struggling to hold back my laughter.
At the end of the day, Supernatural occurrences were the same as Love to me.
FOOLISH AND DELUSIONAL!
Love at the end of the day was just a chemical reaction which you couldn't possibly equate and the fundamental curiosity to just explore it only hinders your ability to know what was right and what was wrong, only for unwanted emotions to act as a catalyst to shatter everything you ever believed in! Source: ME!
I don't believe in love nor in supernatural occurrences. Or that was how I believed it was meant to be, but sadly, fate had other plans for me.
********************
I heard a sudden thud at the corner of a small alley. I must have walked past through it while searching for the source of the previous sound. Besides, with this low visibility, I couldn't see anything at all. I tried to peek a look, but the rain made it even worse. But I was definitely sure that this was where I heard the sound for the first time. I stood there for a while thinking whether I should step in and have a closer look or whether to turn back.
At that moment, a flash of lightning painted the pitch-black sky in luminescence that made everything visibly clear, and at that moment, my blood went cold and I stood dead at the tracks! It was just a matter of 4 to 5 seconds almost, but I remembered it clearly!
The corpse of several humans lay lifeless at that small section. I couldn't understand what I had just seen, but then, even at that torrential downpour, I could see two scarlet red dots at that very section of the corpses, placed at the height of a typical human, focusing at my direction.
I slowly took a step back, and then another. While I did that, I could sense that the red dots slowly moved in my direction. While facing the dots, I was gently walking back, roughly another 2-3 steps, until I hit the wall. While I stood dead in my tracks, the dots still crept in closer and closer.
And that's when a sharp spike surged again within my head! I desperately tried not to give out any noise whatsoever. To be honest, at that point, I wasn't concerned about my well-being anymore. I just didn't want to make any noise so that I don't pull someone else into this mess, just like I walked into because I don't think I could bear the guilt of taking away someone's life because of my own foolish actions, or that's what I told myself.
In reality, though, I just wanted this creature to rip me apart, and feed on my organs, but as with human nature, I still had some kind of system within me that would just move my body away at the sight of danger before my mind could even process what was going on. And just right then, light again flashed, and this time, our eyes met. I couldn't see properly, but the skin was pale as it could get, and those eyes weren't the eyes of any human. At that moment, I realized what it was.
But before I could even think, my body started to move on its own, and when I turned around, I could see those eyes locked up and chasing me. I tried running as fast as I could and dashed forward! There was only one corner left and then I could run back to the main streets and sprint back to my room. I didn't know why was I running nor why I arbitrarily decided to head back to my room.
Right when I turned around the corner, I felt the strongest of spikes I ever had and crashed down after hitting some trash cans along the way. Argh! I cried out loud! Loud enough for the silhouette chasing me to catch up to me. But I couldn't care anymore. I just wanted this pain to end. I desperately tried my best to not let myself give into this spike but I couldn't anymore. I was at my limits!
And so I did, I finally gave myself into that voice.
I could hear a faint voice within my head, or whatever this space was, but couldn't make of what it was. I could just hear something of the sort;
YOU...YOU HAVE TO...YOU HAVE TO...ONLY YOU CAN...ONLY YOU CAN...
I couldn't hear much of it but for some reason, it felt warm and soothing. Before I could get a clear picture of it, the sound of gushing water spiraled down within the space, and when I opened my eyes, I was lying down on that street, and the silhouette, which turned out to be a woman, stood right next to me.
I GUESS THIS IS HOW IT ENDS!
