The vault door opened with a hiss. Zera knew she didn't even imagine the white smoke coming out from the closed space.
Blinking, Zera didn't expect that to work. The first two combinations were both errors, giving her a scare for the last try they were allowed.
Yet, there it was.
"Wow," Xavier whistled, applauding Zera in three slow claps. "What kind of magic do you have?"
Zera rolled her eyes while Selene scoffed.
"It's called brains, dummy," Selene retorted. "But I guess you don't have one."
Zera somehow felt sorry for Xavier but couldn't fully blame Selene for the hostility. He started it with his unwelcomed questions earlier.
Breaking the tension building among them. Zera cleared her throat. She took a step toward the open vault.
"Let's get moving. We have no more time to waste."
Xavier clicked his tongue. He followed Zera, letting out a scoff right after.
"Spoken by the one who wasted it more than we did."
