Zera eyed the woman who now called herself Avalon Haze up and down. Compared to the Priestess, she was looking at Zera rather piteously.
Zera was trying to decide whether she should feel embarrassed or enraged. She had nothing to do about being pulled into the game. Neither were her friends, who were still standing like frozen statues a few distances from where she was sitting.
The look on their faces was a mix of stoic and surprised.
Recovering from her confusion, Zera cleared her throat.
"Avalon Haze?" She repeated her name, testing if she had said it right. When the woman sitting across from her nodded, Zera breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, Miss Haze, the Priestess said you and her are one. I don't quite get it. Where is she now? Or are you trying to make a fool out of me?"
Instead of chuckling in amusement as Zera expected, the woman sighed. She even looked sad.
That gesture only fueled Zera's confusion.
