'I'm pregnant?'
'How could this be?'
Bella finally remembered that the last time she did "it" was with the fake rich man and she forgot to use contraceptives because of all that happened afterwards.
''So I'm pregnant?"
"It's not confirmed but yes, you probably are. Follow the male nurse outside, he'll instruct you on how to go about the sample and all" The doctor said.
"Ok, thank you." Bella said as she stood up and walked out of the door.
Bella was still trying to process the new she had just heard but what was she going to do now.
"Hello, good day"
Bella blushed on sight of the male nurse, he seemed quite attractive.
"Hi"
"I am Nurse Robinson. You must have been informed of the need of your urine sample. If you'd follow me"
Robinson led her to the ladies and gave her a small bottle.
"You can use this. I'll be over by the counter"
Bella collected it from him and entered into the toilet. After she was done, she washed her hands clean, as she looked at her reflection in the mirror, she thought to herself, 'Not only do I not have a source of income to take care of the child, am I even qualified to be a mother? As dirty as I am, can I train up a child not to end up like me? Can I really keep this child?'
'Its better to first confirm if I really am pregnant, so my worries will not be for nought'
Bella dried her hands and left the ladies for the counter, where she found Nurse Robinson waiting for someon... For her?
'He was waiting for me?'
Bella hurriedly shaked the thoughts off her head, she looked at the sample that was wrapped in a nylon and thought,
'He was waiting for this, as if anyone would ever wait for me or want me, perhaps overthinking is also another effects of pregnancy' Bella let out a laugh as she mocked herself in her heart.
"Ahem" Bella cleared her throat to get his attention.
"Oh, finally, I've been waiting for you. Are you done?" Nurse Robinson asked.
Bella heart thumphed when she heard him say he's been waiting for her, she hurriedly dismissed her rapidly beating heart and passed him the nylon.
"Here"
Nurse Robinson collected the bag and led her to a seat, he handed her a form as he said,
"I'll go give this to the lab now. Meanwhile can you help me fill this form up."
"What's the form for?"
"It's just to get your basic information. Nothing to worry about."
"Ok, I'll be done before you get back. Uhmmm, do you have a pen u can use?"
"Oh right, pardon me....heh" Nurse Robinson laughed as he picked up his own from his breast pocket and handed it to Bella.
"Here you go, I'll be back"
"Ok" Bella watched him go till she could see his back no more. She looked down at the form and her pen started dancing on the paper.
Bella was almost done with the form, her pen hovered over the space meant for parent, it was the last one to be filled on the form.
She had been an orphan for as long as she could remember, he had always been taunted by it when she was little. She heard from those at the orphanage that she was given away by her parents as they could not afford to raise her. Ever since then, she left the orphanage as soon as she was of age and looked for works that she could lay her hands on. She didn't really wanna blame anything but if she were to pick someone to blame for how she ended up, it would probably be the parents that she did not know. They were the reason she no longer had anyone to turn to.
Nurse Robinson had been standing there for a while now, he has already gotten back from the lab for a few minutes now, but when he saw Bella sitting there in deep thoughts... he decided to observe her for a bit.
After standing there for quite a while, she hadn't moved so he decided to go meet her.
"Uhm hi"
The sudden sound startled Bella as she jumped slightly. She looked up and saw that it was only the nurse.
"I'm sorry, I must have startled you" Nurse Robinson said with a kind smile on his face.
"No no, it's my fault for spacing out" Bella hurriedly filled out "Orphan" in the space and have the form to the Nurse.
"Here, I must have kept you waiting. I'm sorry" Bella apologized again.
Nurse Robinson looked at the form and the last entry on the form that was written hurriedly.
'Orphan'
"You really like apologizing don't you? haha" Nurse Robinson intended to use that to lighten the atmosphere, but after he made that comment. The atmosphere seemed to have become more awkward as Bella fell into deep thoughts with an awkward smile on her face.
'Ever since that incident, I had really been apologizing a lot. I guess I really have learnt my lesson.'
"Can I have the results now?"
"No it won't be out until tomorrow. You can come over exactly this time tomorrow"
"Alright, thank you" Bella said. She stood up but probably because she's been sitting for a long time, she wobbled and wanted to fall.
Nurse Robinson immediately grabbed her shoulders and held her up.
"Thank you"
Nurse Robinson frown slightly "Look at you, when you get home remember to eat properly and take supplements. You'll need it especially if this is true" he said as he took a pointed look at her tummy.
"Hmmm... I'll be back tomorrow" Bella said softly as she walked out of the hospital.
'Her shoulders are indeed so thin' Nurse Robinson thought as he clenched his fist together trying to retain the warmth that his hands felt.
The Next day,
Bella grabbed her coat as she went out of her door, her result will be out today and she doesn't know what she would do if it turns positive.
As she locked her door and turned, she was met face to face with her lecherous landlord, Mr Jones. Ever since she moved into this apartment, she noticed that her landlord was quite interested in her and always seem to look at her in a way. She didn't care much about him before, so why is he here.
"Hello"
"Hmmm... good day to you too" Mr. Jones said.
"I see you are going out, to work I suppose" he added.
"Actually, no... I've an appointment."
"Oh I see... it's no wonder you weren't wearing that sexy uniform of yours" Mr. Jones muttered the last sentence to himself.
"Excuse me" Bella didn't really get his last statement.
"Oh nevermind... haha" Mr. Jones said
Bella looked at her watch and noticed that she seemed to be getting late. Mr. Jones noticed this action of hers and he said,
"I won't take your time anymore, I just wanted to remind you that your rent will be due this month" Mr. Jones said.
"This month?!" Bella was shocked.
"I thought it was the next month?" she asked.
"Oh no no... you could check through your own part of the agreement"
Bella took out her phone and looked for the picture of the agreement that she saved on her phone.
'So it really was this month' Bella's heart dropped, how was she going to get the funds to pay. Not only is she already jobless, is she gonna be homeless too? Bella was genuinely concerned.
Mr. Jones observed her face very well nd found out that she was worried. So he was right, he's had a crush on his tenant since she moved here and he has always been watching her. Few days ago, he found out that she no longer comes back home late anymore. He suspected that she might have lost her job, but it was nothing but just an assumption, so he was here to confirm, it turns out to be true.
Judging by how worried she looked, she must have really lost her job.
'So it I can use this opportunity to my advantage, I might just be able to have her all to myself' Mr. Jones thought feeling all good inside.
"Sorry, I don't know if you can just give me more time, just till this time next month" Bella asked desperately.
As soon as, Mr Jones heard this, he was about to refuse but when he looked at her and saw the desperate look on her face as she beg, he wondered if this was the way she would beg for "it" on his bed. He dare not be careless at this critical moment, so he agreed thinking it could help build him some gratitude.
"Ok, I'll give you till next month but that's it. You have to pay by the ending of next month" Mr. Jones said magnanimously.
"Thank you... thank you so much" Bella said.
'So now I've been reduced to nothing but a beggar' Bella couldn't help think within herself as she hailed a taxi.
