Chapter 14 - Andre's Request

"Huff..."

This is a little difficult for me, even I have to take a deep breath to get the smoke out of my mouth. Andre and Sylvia have unique attitudes, even making me have to teach, lecture, and forbid them to say rude things.

They are indeed good at playing the Mobile Heroes game, and that has been proven in previous matches. But, they still can't be categorized as the best in the game.

If they could fight Ojan and his companions, they would surely lose badly. However, if they met an enemy that was like the previous match, an enemy that was also met at random, they still had a chance to win. So, therefore, I still consider them to be players who only know how to play the game, not players who are categorized as experts.

Andre and Sylvia have the talent to be professional players, but they still have a lot to learn. They were both still amateurs, players lacking the ability to meet strong foes; who have great cooperation. They have talent, but they tend to choose to protect themselves.

This is a game that emphasizes teamwork. They need cohesiveness and mutual understanding. What their comrades want, they must be aware of it, not think for themselves; like Sylvia who uses Mage Heroes, while Andre needs Tank Heroes. It wasn't a good team-up, even though they won the match in the end.

If they want to win and it will happen, they have to be able to work together and build their chemistry. This will increase their chances of winning. However, if each of them only thought of themselves, selfish in their choice, they would still be in the same ratio, 50% to 50%—that was if their enemy team didn't have good cooperation.

Well, to be honest, I as the coach felt restless when I watched the previous match. I even almost bit my finger just seeing their selfishness. Even so, I still try to be as patient as possible.

I was made restless, and I was made patient by them. That's something that puts me at risk as a coach.

It's hard, but I have to do it. This does sound unconvincing, but I have to believe that I can.

Well, every job, must have risks and responsibilities, right? So, even if I complain or am in trouble, I will still do it. No matter how hard they work, it will be light if not heavy—that's what Mulyadi, a former colleague of mine at the Bengawan Club once said, and his words make me sick.

"Oh, Mr. Daylon, you're here."

Andre suddenly came to this balcony, making me quickly put out my cigarette, so that he doesn't become a passive smoker.

"What wrong, Andre? Aren't you going to lunch?"

This is my break. I've eaten the scraps I brought in my bag, and now it's time to relax and look up at this clear sky.

"I've had lunch. I just came here on a whim."

He said that as if he knew I was here. He looked like he didn't come here on a whim.

"Umph? You came here to ask me to teach you something, didn't you?"

"No, it's not like that. I can't possibly interrupt your rest, Mr. Daylon."

"Oh, I see."

After I said that, Andre walked over and sat on the sofa. Immediately, I turned my gaze towards the door, to see if the maid was following his or not.

"By the way, Mr. Daylon..."

"What?"

"How do you think Sylvia is?"

"Sylvia? Why are you asking that?"

"Because I thought she would be suitable for you to teach. So, apart from me, she is also worthy of your teaching to play the Mobile Heroes game."

My job is to teach him to play the game so he can become a professional player, but not with Sylvia. Even though I know that I don't mean to refuse his request. However, for some reason, I will still ask the reason why he made such a request.

"She fits? The reason that makes you believe that she is suitable for me to teach?" I said.

"Back then, she was a bad woman. She worked for my mother, even became my mother's right hand. Her job was to torture those who had wronged my mother. She did that without a problem, not even thinking about herself. She is such a bad, cruel, and violent woman."

"What do you mean?"

"Livia thinks she is her sister and so do I. Sylvia had neither mother nor father, it was my mother who brought and raised her. From then on, she started working for my mother. And since then she's been a bad woman, continuing to torture those who wronged my mother. It wasn't a good job, but she didn't mind and looked normal; think it's a normal job."

"Then why is she here now? Why isn't she with your mother to work with her?"

From the information that Sinta gave, her mother was rarely in this house. She works abroad, not in this country. She rarely comes home because of her work, so I won't find her for now. That's the information that Sinta gave about her mother.

"Livia… Livia asked her to make Sylvia work here. Livia didn't want Sylvia to have a bad job. Therefore, Sylvia was able to work here thanks to Livia."

"Oh, I see. That means it was your sister, Livia, who asked her to work here."

"Yeah, thanks to that, 5 years ago, Sylvia now has a decent job for her. She became a servant for me, my father, and Livia in this house."

I understand now. So naturally, when I look at Sylvia, I always feel that the aura she has is so gloomy, even cruel for a woman. She was a maid, but the aura she gave off didn't look like that of a maid. In other words, she maid but not maid—wait, how come my words are like Mulyadi's? She was a maid, but a maid who had a cruel aura.

I understand the story, but that does not mean the story is the answer to what he asked me.

"I can't find a reason why you asked me to teach her that in your story. So, what is your reason for asking me to teach her?"

"Ah... that's because she likes playing the game."

He smiled the moment after saying that, leaving me speechless for 3 seconds.

"...Ah, I see."

His words were enough for me. He answered that briefly, clearly, and concisely so that it let me know that Sylvia deserved to be taught to play the game too.

That's quite satisfying for me.

"She always smiled while playing, even forgetting about her dark past. Well, even though she is often toxic when she loses."

You too, Andre. You previously blamed Sylvia, but she didn't deserve to be blamed.

"Okay, I'll accept that."

"Really?"

"Yeah. No matter how big the risk is later, the important thing now, you and she can play well. I will make you the best players, maybe even professional players."

I'm pretty sure I said that. I'm sure with my predictions I can make them the best players.

"Hurray."

But, Andre had to go through a period of 2 years to become a professional player. He is 13 years old while being a professional player requires 15 years, so he needs a long time to become a professional player. And as for Sylvia, if she wanted to become a professional player, she would probably be able to achieve that quickly. But if she doesn't want that, that's fine with me. Because after all, my job is for Andre, not for Sylvia.

Once rowed, two also passed—maybe that's the proverb that can be described for me.
