"Haha. Of course, I come by every day" — Vanessa pulled away — "how do you feel?"
"Much better," said Teresa. "The doctor is certain she can leave in a day or two."
"Isn't that great news?" said Kaiden, locking glances with Vanessa who pouted her mouth, folded her arms, and turned the other way. "Did I say something wrong?"
"No, you didn't," Teresa said. "She's been a naughty one ever since the doctor said that."
"But why?" asked Kaiden.
"It's simple," said Teresa. "Her father wants her back home the moment she gets discharged."
"And I don't," said Vanessa.
"Is there something else you want to stay back for?" Kaiden asked.
"Of course."
"Tell me then" — Vanessa walked back to the bed and pounced on it — "is it Peter, your unreliable boyfriend, you want to stay back for?"
"No. I hate him."
"If he is not the one." Kaiden turned on his heel like a TV detective. "Who is the reason then?"
