Chapter 1 - White expanse

Emptiness... or rather a vast expanse of white that dosen't show an end.

Within this vast expanse of white stood a seemingly dazed handsome teenager in black robes with black short hair and black eyes.

Slowly that dazed look started wearing off from the teenager as he turned his head around in confusion.

"Where... am i..?" He said in a voice filled with confusion and bewilderment as his eyes became sharp enough to install fear into one's soul.

The teenager held his head with his right hand seemingly in pain.

My name is... Aught? Yes yes i am Aught!

Light seemed to shine through the teenager's eyes.

"But... i can't seem to remember anything else?"

Yes, other than some fragmented memories, he seemed to not recall anything else.

My body feels heavy? Aught thought as he moved his arms around.

Hmm? Aught moved his right foot forward before frowning.

it seems to be the environment...

what has affected him wasn't his body condition! but that the environment seemed to be suppressing his every move. But why?

Upon learning this the Aught started looking around once more but no avail as every direction was the same white endless expanse.

No matter. Aught was confident, a trace of determination flashing in his eyes. Still i can handle this much suppression.

Even though he didn't remember, he felt like there was something he needed to do here.

"Onwards" Aught mumbled.

No matter what, standing still will lead to nothing. as long as i move, eventually i will have my answers.

And so Aught moved forward with each step seemingly carrying heavy weight. but that didn't make him waver as he continued.

But... after what appeared to be hours? Days? Weeks maybe? His expression unknowingly started to become indifferent and his eyes gradually turned dazed as he moved slower and slower until coming to a full stop.

Once more the dazed look on Aught wore off.

Aught furrowed his eyebrows. i unknowingly lost my consciousness? After realizing that, Aught became more cautious.

After all, who knows if he might lose his consciousness forever.

Upon coming to that conclusion, Aught sat down cross-legged, and started to observe his surroundings more thoroughly. But no matter how much he looked and contemplated he couldn't notice anything in this white endless expanse.

"This...." initially Aught thought, that as long he moved, he will find a way. but that seemed to be wishful thinking on his part.

While Aught was troubled by this dilemma, he was unaware that he was being watched by another being.

********************************************

In what seemed to be an endless hall there was a throne with a being seemingly covered by darkness sitting, with a projection in-front of it.

"Hahaha.." the being was laughing heartily, its laughter unbelievably shaking the hall and space around the throne.

"Good! Good! Good! to think that i will be able to witness such a talent! Most beings would lose their sense of self and die in the first 5 days in there, but he! He actually has lasted a total of 32 days! Haha.." the more the being talked about it the more astounded he was.

"Alright, this is enough i will fulfill my master's promise and grant him the opportunity he desired with what memory he has left"

Immediately the being stood up and disappeared.

********************************************

Back in the white expanse. Aught was still sitting cross-legged and observing.

"Hm?" Aught turned his head.

In the distance a shadow like human covered by darkness was calmly walking moving towards Aught.

But what astonished Aught more is not the appearance of the being, but that although he seemed to be walking calmly, each step he took seemed to take him to great distances. It was not quite teleportation, but more like space was shrinking to receive him with each step.

Aught hurriedly stood up and gestured with his hands while saying respectfully "Aught greets you senior!"

The being chuckled lightly "quite clever"

Aught Immediately let out a mental sigh of relief. At least this being didn't seem to harbor any ill will.

What a joke! This being capable of shrinking space is definitely someone he cannot afford to offend.
