Chapter 11 - Ch 10 - A Temporary Friend

"Light Arrow" I muttered from inside another random bush and accurately hit a random horned rabbit on its legs, making its companions run away but I already prepared more Light Arrows and hit them all, leaving them on the ground to bleed to death and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Phew, that's 8, 2 more to go" I muttered and went to the three dead horned rabbits dying on the ground and dragged them towards my little sack I got from the old Priest inside the town church and drag the hefty weight along with me on the grand open field of grass with no name just situated beside the Starter Town, well one of the starter towns as you get spawned into the game at random places.

As I walk around the large open field of grass, I felt my senses tingling and hastily dropped down to the ground and look around warily and saw it.

An E rank monster called Wild Boar, just a normal boar out in the wild.

Hmm, I should be able to take it out in a couple of hits with Light Arrow, and its agility should be manageable with its size so...

"Light Arrow" I muttered while standing up with 3 Light Arrows appearing beside me that instantly shot out towards the D rank Wild Boar, accurately hitting its body that just made some small punctures but the bleeding should wear it down as the fight goes on.

"SQUEAL!" the Wild Boar squealed in anger as it rush towards me at a rapid pace while its eyes became red, probably using the berserk skill at the moment so its energy reserves should rapidly deplete right now.

I stood there in place, waiting for the Wild Boar to be just near enough where I could take it down in one hit with a single Light Arrow.

With the sound of thumps on the ground as the Boar ran towards me with anger and might, I calmed down my beating heart and waited for the perfect moment to shoot out a Light Arrow.

"SQUEA-" shouted the Boar but that was the moment I was looking for.

"Light Arrow!" I shouted as a Light Arrow directly shout into its mouth at near point-blank range while I rolled away at the same and felt the ground thumping beside me and saw the beast wallowing in pain on the ground and suddenly had an insane thought.

I instantly went into my so-called Charisma mode and neared the Boar and patted it on its back while it looks at me with red eyes.

"I- I'm sorry mister boar, I- I was just so scared when I saw you and unconsciously attack, b- but I can help you! C- calm down please" I said with a trembling breath and slowly activated my Gift in the game and not the one in real life and slowly healed the Wild Boar.

Soon, the boar felt its pain-filled body slowly getting healed and felt that it was inside a warm cozy blanket of warmth and care with its anger going away like the breeze.

"Phew," I said while wiping away the sweat that dripped down from my forehead and looked at the calm Wild Boar peacefully lying down on the ground and slowly hugged it.

"A- are you okay now?" I asked to the boar while I lied down on its soft fat belly and felt it rolling with me now being on the ground with the boar now on top of me.

"Grrr," said the boar in a menacing voice as I will probably get killed right now, or perhaps the boar is just joking with me.

"Oink!" said the boar while it nuzzled its large face with me while I chuckled and hugged its large body tighter.

"Mmm, well goodbye then mister Boar! Hope you have a fun time!" I said to the boar and prepared to run away as perhaps my skill level is too low for it to work but suddenly, I felt the boar nudging its face towards me.

"Oink!" said the boar towards me.

"Y- you want to help me hunt some rabbits?" I asked to the boar with the boar nodding its head towards me.

"Thank you mister Boar!" I said to the boar with a hug as it made me go on top of it and gained a temporary help for my first quest.

Hmm, it's only temporary but it's still progress, maybe if I train my charisma perhaps I can make it work and perhaps never even deal with conflicts at all in the future.

Soon, me and the boar run around the large field and finally caught the last two horned rabbits I needed and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank you mister Boar, goodbye now!" I said to the boar.

"Squeal!" shouted the boar as it rode off into the distance onto the sunset and felt a slight melancholy at this cinematic scene I am experiencing right now.

Well, the boar would still probably die to another player so sucks to be him I guess, that's what you get for making only a temporary alliance with me.

I soon entered the Starter Town again and went towards where my client set as a rendezvous point where I can bring him the horned rabbits and soon arrive there without a hitch and saw a chubby man wearing some chef clothes along with a large chef hat that looks around in worry.

"Hello! Are you the one who put up the ten horned rabbits quest?" I asked towards the man while he looked down towards me with a sigh of relief.

"Phew, yes, so you have the ten horned rabbits?" asked the man as I nodded and gave him the sack which he opened and saw a sack of blood and flesh and almost puked in disgust.

"Eh herm, good job kid, here's your reward," said the man with a cough while handing me 2 silver coins and a relatively new carving knife that gleamed from the sun's rays and took it with a thankful smile.

"Can you please sign your name here sir" I said to the man while giving him a pen and showed him the quest notice that I took out from my pockets inside my priest robe, and with all the movement I have done for the past few hours, the quest notice has unfortunately been crumpled to a degree that was still readable.

"Mmm," the man nodded as he signed the quest notice and gave my pen back to me.

"Thank you, sir! Goodbye!" I said to the man and walked away back to the adventurer's guild and saw many players come by and go and made sure to not get their attention and walked towards the receptionist standing behind the counter looking around with a blank stare, probably from boredom or just the usual NPC stuff, but it's probably boredom with how realistic NPCs are in this game.

"Oh, you're back!" said the lady as she smiled when she saw me and took my crumpled quest notice hanging from my hands.

"Hehe, did I do fine?" I asked the lady with a smile and she chuckled in response.

"Mmm, you did well for your first quest, it only took you a few hours," said the lady with an encouraging voice while modifying my Adventurer's card to show the quest I completed.

"Goodbye then miss!" I said to the lady while waving my hand to her.

"Goodbye, have fun adventuring!" said the lady towards me with a smile as I walked out of the guild and went towards a random stall where I can buy a sheathe to place my new Carving Knife.

"H- hello sir, do you have a sheathe for my knife?" I asked to the stall owner with a cute face and he instantly responded back with a smile.

"Of course my boy, hmm, this should do the trick for your knife, you can strap it on your waist or even legs if you're brave enough, it's durable so it would last you a long while, and it's also easily reparable," said the man while showing me a leather sheathe.

"H- how much is it?" I asked the man.

"1 silver and 20 copper," said the man as I nodded and knew that it was a heavily discounted price.

"Thank you!" I said to the man and gave him the money and took the sheathe.

"Pleasure doing business with you," said the man as I nodded and walked away and sheathed my new Carving Knife on my waist and opened the menu, preparing to log off the game.

And as I pressed the button, the whole world vanish from my view with me appearing in the black void.

[Did you have fun playing the game] asked Ai as her white humanoid avatar appeared in front of me.

"Ngh, yes! Thank you for the Gift by the way" I said to Ai while stretching my virtual avatar.

[You're welcome, see you again next time] said Ai.

"Mmm," I nodded and log off the IVR pod and felt my real body again that went into a state of sleep and got out of the pod and stretched around, feeling very much refreshed as it was already afternoon so my body should have slept for quite a while.

"Ngh, what should I have for dinner later?" I muttered while grabbing my Gtech Glasses at the latest model and lay down on my bed and started to plan out my dinner while watching some videos about New World on Metube.
