Chapter 1 - Insist

"Asih! Asih! Don't go, Asih!" called her mother to her daughter Asih, who is now determined to go to the landlord in his village.

This morning when she was at school, she had taken her older sister by force and her father was also detained in the great estate of the landlord who was very rich and powerful in his village.

No matter how hard her mother called and no matter how hard she tried to hold back Asih's steps, the girl didn't want to listen to her mother's screams, who was now chasing her and her youngest brother, Ditto, who had just been in the fifth grade of elementary school.

Ditto already understood what was going on in his family, he was also crying while running after his mother and sister.

"Older sister! Do not go! Poor mother," shouted Ditto defending his mother, who now looked very tired.

Their mother stumbled after her daughter who was now very emotional.

Asih really can't stand the landlord's unfair treatment of his power.

The local village head also couldn't do anything because most of the people sided with him and of course also because they got money to keep their mouths shut and some other people didn't dare to fight because they were also small people like Asih.

Asih's close friend--Neneng didn't even dare to accompany Asih to go there because she was also afraid to face the landlord.

It was well known how cruel he was to the little people , especially those who had been involved with him, both in debt and in defending their land, not to want to be sold to the landlord.

Neneng, who also just got home from school, now prefers to sit on Asih's terrace waiting for her friend to return after struggling to free her father and brother, which Neneng herself thinks Asih will not be able to.

How is Asih able to resist the power of the Landlord who has authority in his village? Neneng just doubted.

Neneng knows very well how ambitious Asih is to become a successful person so that she can release the shackles of the people in her village from the grip of the all-powerful landlord.

She also could not prevent the stubborn actions of her best friend who if she wanted something and planned something, she had to do it.

Asih's actions this time will also record the history of a village father who dared to fight the Landlord.

Because before that a girl had never dared to go against the authority of the Landlord and most of them just gave up.

Even if there were those who were against it, it was their parents and their older brothers, while Asih did not have an older brother and her father could not fight against the landlord either.

Even those who fight will end up the same way, if they are not imprisoned and tortured, they will surely be shot and killed by their guards.

It was a risk for a beautiful woman whose parents were in debt and the Landlord really wanted her.

Then the woman will be taken forcibly to become his concubines in the big house belonging to the Landlord which is like a big Kingdom, very majestic and spacious.

Except before being targeted by the landlord, they ran away and went outside the village, and that had happened like a friend of her sister Asih who had also gone out of town before she entered high school.

Asih's older sister is Nengsih, who just graduated from high school last year. She also intends to migrate to Jakarta.

However, the landlord had targeted him to make his a young wife until Nengsih's intention to leave was discovered by the landlord and he immediately dragged Nengsih to marry him on the grounds that Asep's father could not pay her debt to him because the interest kept multiplying. .

Asep was forced to borrow money from the landlord for his garden business which went bankrupt due to crop failure, whether it was vegetables, tea or rice plantations that he managed.

The Asih family was not as poor as it is now.

However, because her father's business declined and her mother was also sickly, they slowly began to sell the house and borrow money from the landlord until finally they were entangled in an agreement to let Nengsih be taken by the greedy landlord.

Asep had to be sentenced to several months in prison for allowing Nengsih to escape to Jakarta and it was considered a betrayal of the landlord who really wanted Nengsih to be his wife.

Residents who along the road saw Asih running full of emotion and being chased by her mother and brother from behind, now wonder what is happening to the family even though some of them already know the rumors circulating.

Residents also did not dare to help them and just kept their mouth shut without wanting to interfere more.

However, when they saw Ani, Asih's mother, who was now slumped over in pain because her chest was tight, they then helped her and told Ani not to run after Asih, who she really couldn't catch.

Asih's neighbor named Roni who saw the incident then chased Asih so as not to go to the landlord's big house because it was too risky for her.

"Asih! Asih, wait!" Roni shouted and then managed to grab Asih's wrist until Asih stopped because her friend's grip was very strong.

"Let go of me, Brother Roni!" Asih asked, now her eyes were puffy like she was holding back a cry that was so stifling in her chest.

"Don't be careless, it's very risky if you chuckle to go there," said Roni forbidding the departure of his neighbor and friend.

Roni is a year older than Asih, and he is Asih's senior in high school.

Roni really cares about the woman who is now dealing with him, Roni has been very fond of Asih for a long time and has not had time to express his feelings to her.

"Don't stop me, Brother! I have to go," Asih said as she let go of Roni's hand.

"Your mother is now being surrounded by residents, Asih …. She was short of breath," explained Roni to Asih with the intention that the woman would come back with him and stop protesting against the Landlord.

Asih pondered, she was also worried about her mother's condition. But she also had to help her sister no matter what.

Asih was determined to leave.

"Brother Roni, I have to still go. Please take care of my mother, take her to the doctor or take her medicine at home. Why is Neneng there, I have to save Sister Nengsih," Asih said so quickly and immediately left Roni who was now also confused about what to do.

He is also worried about Asih and is afraid that the woman he likes will actually be held by the landlord in his big house.

However, he also gets the mandate to take care of the woman's mother until Roni chooses to come back and help Asih's mother.

Asih ran in doubt thinking about her family's increasing difficulties.

Now her eyes widen when she arrived at the very majestic house belonging to the ruler in her village. Asih forced her way in but the security guard didn't allow it.

"Sir, I have to go in ... I want to see my Sister," Asih shouted, insisting on breaking down the very large gate.

The security guard who only peeked at the small hole in the wall still wouldn't open the gate.

But Asih did not want to give up, she then looked for stones to use.
