"I want to see them again, and this time, I'll tell them I love you." Rhea Azaan continued talking with a mixture of feeling. On the same pretty face were lines of flowing tears, on that same face was a bitter smile and a frown.
The doctors were most surprised of all. The goddess was making a confession to a dying man in the ambulance.
"Is he alive?" Huston asked.
"He is but…"
"But what?" whoever thought Rhea Azaan was too crazy to hear what they were saying was wrong.
"Madam calm down." Hutson held her back.
"He has lost almost sixty percent of his body fluids which is more life threatening. The bad news is, he is still bleeding. We need to run a few tests in hospital to determine the problem." Dr. Alvin said.
GREMATORIA NATIONAL HOSPITAL
If she wasn't held back, she would be in that room where Kiaan Tilden lay motionless. She had stood for almost an hour without showing any signs of sitting down.
When the doctors came out, she broke free and hurried to him.
"Where are his people?" Dr. Alvin asked.
"Aren't you seeing me? Am I not his people?" who knew Rhea Azaan would be this crazy? The guards were caught amidst laughter and tears.
"I mean his family people." Dr. Alvin said.
"Don't even try looking down at me. I've been waiting here for almost an hour, tell me, how is he?" she shouted at the doctor while shaking him hard. If there was anyone who was embarrassed, that was Dr. Alvin.
"He has Hemophilia B, lack of clotting factor IX, a genetic disorder in which blood doesn't clot properly. That's why he over bled and lost over sixty percent of his body fluid. That's dangerous and the chances of saving him are minimal, and if he happens to get out alive, then he might experience body organ failure." Dr. Alvin explained.
"Make sure you save him! Can I see him?'" Rhea Azaan asked,
"He is in a state of severe hypovolemic shock. The blood can't pump sufficient amount of blood to rest of body parts and this also leads to organ failure. That means, if he really can manage to get out alive, which we doubt, then he would still have many complications." Dr. Alvin said. "He needs immediate blood transfer."
The problem wasn't the blood transfer but who would be the donor? Rhea Azaan knew Austin and Briella weren't Kiaan's real parents. How will he be helped? Rhea Azaan broke down.
THE FINLAY COMPANY
Mr. Austin Finlay was busy in his office with work as Briella was out supervising the workers. The screen on the wall caught her attention and as she stared at it in disbelieve, she broke down and cried. It was too loud everyone stopped working and looked at her.
Adriel ran upstairs and they came back with Mr. Austin. The news was being replayed and even Adriel was heartbroken.
"Stop a taxi Adriel. We need to rush over." Mr. Austin said.
Moments later, the crying Briella was helped into the taxi and they drove away.
"Huh! Junior Finlay was involved in an accident and they say he's on the verge of death at the hospital." A worker said.
"Yeah, that's true… I've checked online and he's really battling for his life. He was protecting the goddess in business Rhea Azaan." Another worker said.
"What will happen to Mr. and Mrs. Finlay? They only have that one son to relay to." Another worker said.
When the three arrived at the hospital, they were worried of their Kiaan's life that no one dared care about the hospital bill of such a high-class hospital.
"You can't see him now." Dr. Alvin stopped them. After knowing that his parents wouldn't offer his blood type, he told them that him waking up depends on when the miracle will happen. For now, he was connected to machines which would help keep him alive as the doctors did their best.
Rhea Azaan sat they're in a corner alone. She had asked the guards to leave her alone. Kiaan's parents didn't even look at her after learning Kiaan got hurt protecting her. As for the driver of the reckless car, he was no more.
As for Briella, she was held by Adriel who looked weaker than he really was.
Mr. Austin Finlay sat lonely with his head supported in his palm, full of sorrow and grief.
IN THE ORPHANAGE
If there was anyone in more stress due to the accident, then it was big aunty. Apart from being heartbroken because her best child was in a life-threatening condition, she had the twins to deal.
The six would eat anything since the time they saw the news.
The girls couldn't help crying.
The boys weren't talking to anyone and sat in one corner together comforting each other and at the same time soaking each other in their tears which fell freely without a sound.
"Why bad things only happening to us?" Camila cried. "Dad was fine just the other day."
"Daddy can't die." Carly cried.
"I want both of you to at least eat something. By tomorrow, he'll be out of the emergency room and we both will go to see him." Big aunty tried talking to them.
"Big aunty, do you think dad will die?" among the red-haired twins, Rex asked.
"No, he can't die. He promised to take you to stay with him, how can he die?" Big aunty said, patting them slowly.
Little Carly, the fragile of all the six fainted due to exhaustion. Camila cried to sleep there on the floor.
The boys slept huddled there together on a corner and big aunty sat there the whole night watching over them. It was the longest night ever there at the orphanage.
THE AZAAN HOME…
Amor Azaan and Avery Azaan received the news earlier than anyone from Hutson.
It's been hours and no report so far. They had given the ordered the guards to drive princess home but no report came. They were about to call Hutson when a message beeped.
'Princess refused to leave the hospital.'
The two parents fumed.
"Who's this man to make her stay in hospital?" Avery asked.
"If that lowly man dares make my girl stay in the cold, I'll finish him right there in the hospital. I already warned them to stay away from their family. If they're testing my patience…" Mr. Amor fumed as they entered the car and left together with the guards.
"Madam… your parents are here to get you." Hutson delivered the information to Rhea Azaan who sat in a corner alone. She simply snorted without looking up.
"Rhea Azaan, wake up and get back home!" the two walked in.
"Don't you dare say you're staying here because of…" Mr. Amor started but for the first time, his daughter stood up and looked right in his father.
"Dad… don't you dare talk nonsense here. Kiaan was hurt protecting me and if it were not him to take the hit, I'd be dead by now." Rhea Azaan spoked with a pained expression.
"Even if, you're alive and can't stay here in the cold night waiting for a man who is no good than dead." Mr. Amor said. Kiaan's parents couldn't take it anymore. Their son was on the death bed but here was one ungrateful man.
"You dare call my son a no good than dead man? My son was living a peaceful until he met your daughter who drove him to his death. At least even if you can't stand seeing him alive, respect him on his death bed!" Mr. Austin stood up and faced the rich couple.
"Are you talking to me?" Mr. Amor looked at Kiaan's father.
"Dad! If there is anything I want is peace the family of Kiaan. For heaven's sake! He risked his life to have me alive! How heartless and senseless are you?" Rhea Azaan cried.
