Chapter 15 - CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THREATS

Mr. Amor was shocked. His own daughter had called him heartless and senseless, a thing she never did. For the first time, she talked on his face and defended a man.

"Princess, don't forget he is your father… "Avery started but the doctor opened the door. Rhea Azaan rushed to the doctor leaving her parents there alone.

"You can see him but you have to wait for him to be taken to the ward. The emergency room is too bloody for you to get in." Dr. Alvin said.

Just then, a nurse pushed the door and ushered them to a different room. Rhea Azaan was the first to get in. Mr. Amor and Mrs. Avery left without even seeing Kiaan.

No one would touch him. They viewed his body through the glass bed where he was. He was too handsome and calm as ever. In his unconscious self, he looked like a real god. He was dressed in white and tubes were connected all over his body. He was supported by a breathing machine which was beside the bed.

"Am sorry…" Rhea Azaan felt the glass with her hands as tears fell over it.

"Son… Kiaan… mommy and daddy are here waiting for you." Briella cried.

"Take heart, ok? Kiaan is a strong man and I believe his will power is strong. He'll definitely wake up." Mr. Austin hugged his wife.

"Dad, mom, am sorry I dragged your son into this." Rhea Azaan kneeled before Kiaan's parents which left them dumbfounded.

"No, my daughter… my son… just wake up." Mr. Austin said.

Briella helped her up and the two hugged tightly as they cried their hearts out. Mr. Austin stepped aside and gave the fragile women to cry.

"Kiaan loved you and he would anything to protect anyone he loves." Briella said.

"I'll take care of everything and even invite an expert to make sure he lives. I'll be checking him every day and staying with him every night to accompany him. That's a promise."

That night, the two went home. Rhea Azaan slept by the bedside. Crying even in her sleep. She didn't pick up her parents' calls and no one else was allowed in the room except for the doctors who came frequently to ensure he was still breathing and in a good position.

Morning…

Big aunty was woken up that morning with the kids who wanted to go to see their dad. She had dozed off in the same room with them and they woke up earlier.

The seven entered the hospital where Rhea was fast asleep her head resting just close to Kiaan's head on the glass. She was startled by the sudden noise and was about to complain when two girls hugged her from both sides.

"Thanks for keeping our daddy company through his most difficult time." Carly cried.

"Am happy you came to see him also." Rhea Azaan hugged them back. "Daddy will be fine someday." She said.

"He's a strong man. I've known him since childhood and I know he isn't someone to give up." Big aunty said. "Kiaan, you have to really wake up and comfort your twins for me."

"What's wrong with the kids?" Rhea Azaan asked.

"They didn't anything since when they heard about their dad." Big aunty said.

"Huh! You all have to eat something ok? That way, dad would be happy and come back to you." Rhea Azaan who wasn't too much used to children spoke.

"Goddess, what did the doctors say?" Harris asked.

"That he's be ok soon." Swallowing hard, Rhea Azaan lied to them. "You'll leave them here for today to be with their dad. I'll drive them back in the evening." Rhea Azaan said. After being with Kiaan for a while, big aunty accepted and left.

Rhea Azaan was in no mood to eat, but for the sake of the twins, she had to. She ordered the meal and they ate together after which the twins sung to Kiaan, reading out few lines to him and making some jokes. They believed if he keeps hearing their voices, he will get well soon. Rhea Azaan found them being a great company and that day, she didn't go to work.

Evening, she had them driven back to the orphanage.

Rhea Azaan went home on orders from her parents. She would have loved being alone with Kiaan but they asked her home. Besides, she needed a rest and at least changing to other clothes before coming back. So, she went home.

Rhea Azaan got out of the car and lazily walked into the house where her parents stood impatiently waiting. She walked into the living room and towards the stair without saying anything.

"Princess, stop right there!" Avery Azaan commanded of which Rhea Azaan stopped.

"Since when did you start being such a big head?" she asked.

"Mom I need peace. I need to be alone. ok?" Rhea Azaan said.

"Princess Rhea Azaan, this is not the woman we brought you up to be. What I want is the best for you." Mr. Amor Azaan said.

"Dad if you really want the best for me, then let me just decide what I want. Of course, I can't choose something I don't like." Rhea Azaan said

"Concerning that man…" Mr. Amor started.

"If that's why you commanded me here, am sorry dad, mom, am leaving. There is nothing we are going to talk about." Without even looking at them, she turned to leave.

"If you dare walk out of that door, I'll surely disown you!" Mr. Amor threatened.

"Princess, will you listen to your dad?" Avery Azaan begged.

"Listen to what mom? If you people want to disown me, go ahead and do it. Am a country's treasure already. I'll accept I was disowned due to you people being heartless. You already passed the company over to me and there is no way of reversing the whole process. What I know is, he risked his life to save me and I love him." Rhea Azaan walked out of the house leaving her parents dumb-founded.

"Madam, what if they are serious? I mean, the company once belonged to them after all!" Hutson reasoned out.

"Yeah, I know that Hutson, but it already belongs to be. Besides, this company wasn't where it is right now, if we have to share it, I'll definitely get what I deserve. Even the president here can admit I took the right step. Let's get going." Rhea Azaan said.

In the house…

Mr. Amor Azaan was really going berserk. His own had turned against him.

"Who does she think she is? Without us, she wouldn't be who she is right now!" He roared. "She dares threaten me with my own company? My own wealth?"

"Calm down honey, we will talk to her and get sense into her head. She's probably worried because it's true he saved her." Avery Azaan said.

"Your daughter …" Mr. Amor started but Avery held up her hand.

"Don't say your daughter. When the whole country is praising her, you stand up and claim you're the father of the great woman. Right now, because she doesn't want to listen, you say my daughter, right?" Avery Azaan asked.

"Stop there! Get the lawyer here right now!" Mr. Amor Azaan roared.

"Are you serious? You really want to disown Rhea Azaan on a matter of one night? Huh! That's not going to be possible." Avery Azaan couldn't believe it.

"Do you think am joking?"

"She is a country's treasure. What do you think the whole country will talk about? What do you think you are doing? Be sensible for once. One mistake doesn't mean the end of it. People are always given a second chance!" Avery Azaan wanted to cry for her daughter.

"I said get the lawyer here right now!" Mr. Amor Azaan commanded.

The family lawyer, Derek arrived in a matter of minutes and found Avery Azaan seated alone in the living room with her head in her palms.

Mr. Amor Azaan came out of his study room with all the papers looking as stern as ever with a stone face.

Derek couldn't believe it at all. Rhea Azaan was really going to be disowned this same night for standing by the man who risked everything to keep her safe.
