Alina stood at the palace in terror as she was in the middle of a war, she held on to the hilt of her blood stained sword firmly on her right hand and held a shield on her left hand.
She had no idea what was happening, she stood shock as she watched the building all turned to rubble around her as a result of the battle going on.
She looked around trying to find a way to escape from this body field, she couldn't stay here and watch head cut off from bodies. So she kept looking for a exit when she sensed someone coming right for her.
Alina narrowly dodged, immediately raiding her shield high to defend herself before her Opponent would strike again. Luckily for her, she had thought fast enough
Her quick thinking had saved her as at that moment, her Opponent had used full force to hit her shield and it reverberated sending her flying to the floor, making her loose hold of her shield.
She laid on the floor and at that moment for the first time since the battle, she had just seen his face.
A grotesque looking man, he this scars all over his face, his right eye had a clotting on it so Alina knew he was partially blind.
He held a stick with spikes at the top, aiming for her head.
Alina who wasn't prepared for all of this dodged just in time to keep her head intact, the spike dug deep into the ground and her Opponent's attention was on removing it.
She saw it as an opportunity to make her strike, she swiftly rolled towards her sword and stood up ready to attack but unfortunately for her, the man was standing afront her a creepy smile appeared on his face.
He kicked her before she could attack, he was so fast that she never saw it coming. She fell to the ground facing her scarred opponent.
Looking at him she saw his smile become creep, making him look more hideous.
He raised his weapon raised high aiming right for her head. She closed her eyes waiting for her fate, if this was where she was going to die atleast she would die on a battle field as she had always wanted.
She closed her eyes waiting to feel her last pain before she died, she laid still expecting to feel pain but nothing came. She stopped hearing battle cry as everywhere became quiet.
She opened her eyes and saw she was lying in an empty field, she sat up looking around before standing up, she was astonished at the change of environment .
The grasses were green and dances harmoniously to the melody of the wind, her eyes lit up at the beauty before her, she hasn't seen any like it. She walked around hands spread wide as she enjoyed the serenity of the field when all of a sudden, there was a terrible noise coming from afar , it got closer and seemed like a quake.
She gasped.
The grasses which was once green began to wither and fire which Alina had no idea who started it began to spread at an alarming rate.
She took off swiftly, running more than her legs could carry, as she ran she looked back and saw that the fire was spreading really fast .
She increased her pace at an uncontrollable rate when she hit her leg on a stone, she fell to the ground, her leg hurting her badly.
Soon she began to feel the heat, the fire started to spread around her and soon it began to consume her. She could feel the excruciating pain as she screamed in terror, she felt helpless there was nothing she could do but near the pain till she die.
As she screamed something appeared in her mind, it was hazy and the only thing she could see was a building which looked like a temple of sort. The image she saw just left as quickly as it came.
She felt her body burning and laid still waiting for death to come, she knew she couldn't survive not in this world.
" Alina" she heard an unclear voice call her name, followed by a gentle tap.
" Alina "
She opened her eyes slowly, looking around everything seemed blurry and she saw a figure towering above her.
"Alina" She heard the voice again but this time clearer, but she found it difficult to recognize the voice. She rubbed her eyes wanting to see who it was, when she recognized the owner's voice.
On hearing the familiar, she felt relieved. She had longed to hear this voice for a long time and she felt happy now.
" Father?" She said, her eyes already cleared.
"Daughter" her father walked towards where she was and sat beside her on the bed , he looked sorry.
" Please forgive me, I know I had hurt you a lot in the past "
" Father!"
" I always thought a Good king should follow the law of the land even if it's against him and his family " King Colan slowly knelt on the floor beside her bed.
" No Father, please don't...….."
" I have forgiven you, do get up " she said, a drop of tear slid down her face
Colan stood up and sat on the bed back, Wiping away the tear from her face.
" I'm here now daughter, I am here to redeem myself. To prove to you that I can be a better father, I want to let you know I care about you a lot and not some damn custom" he said.
" What do you mean dad?"
" Alina I shouldn't have involved you in the politics of the kingdom, I shouldn't have forced you into getting married against your will."
" I have made my decision Alina, although it isn't so good but I promise you, that you will have a better life with this new decision "
" What's that?" Alina asked confused
"Just outside this kingdom, there's a small village. Go there and start a new life"
" Ooh father" Alina said astonishingly, She didn't see this coming.
" You should go tonight, everyone would be tired out due to the preparations made for tomorrow "
"I love you" she said hugging him.
"I will never forget you dad, you will always be here" She said touching her chest.
"That reminds me, here take this" he handed her a purple locket
"This is yours now, it was your mother's" he said
Alina collected it, she opened it and in it was a picture of a young lady with ashen hair, green eyes and fine pale skin.
'What a beauty?' she thought
"Go prepare now, take only a few things so you don't feel tired on your journey" Colan said snapping her from her thoughts
" Okay dad"
" I have to go now Alina, be up at midnight daughter. There will be a letter telling you where to go" he said. He stood up and left the room
Alina watched her father leave , letting the tears flow freely. She sat there for what seems like a long time before she remembered she had work to do.
' Get off it Alina….. at least you have been given this great opportunity, do not waste it on tears '
"Get up and go prepare you do have a journey ahead of you" she said as she stood up to prepare
