Chapter Two
King O'colan stood in his private chamber staring out of his window,he had seen Alina sparring afar off with his best friend,Axin and he saw them leave.
'She's rather good' he thought
He had long wavy, brown hair ,brown eys and looked really young in his forties, his crown adorning his head.
As he thought of Alina, lines were etched on his forehead,he knew that few weeks from now she would be clocking 16 which means that she'll be getting married soon.
He so much wished there wasn't any law of that because he knew deep inside of him that Alina was far more greater than being married off to a stranger unwillingly but that had always been d custom and there was nothing he could do as a king but abide by it.
With each generation of rulers that passes none of them has ever changed the custom for it is one thing holding them, the custom is Adriele has been the same right from the first rulers to King O'colan.
Somehow,he couldn't help but feel sad for her.He found it hard to talk to her about the situation and knew he had to,within him he knew it wasn't the right decision to make and couldn't help but think of how she was going to react,he knew making the decision was going to crush Alina's dreams of becoming a knight.
"Why don't you make the right decision instead?"
He heard a voice and immediately he recognized the voice.
This was no other person than Axin.
"What do you mean?" He asked facing Axin.
"Why don't you make the right decision by not marrying her off"
"I wish I could Axin..." he stopped talking
"But that has been the custom " he continued.
"You're king now,the seventh O'colan in your generation and you can change the customs since you rule"Axin replied.
King O'colan finds it strange most times to believe how rapidly Axin had changed, they had been friends for a long time before fate carved different path for them to follow.
O'colan had to focus more on politics and areas that would make him a good king while Axin discovered his background and realized he was more than a knight.
A druid.
Everything so far wasn't how they had planned but they learnt to cope with it.
O'colan couldn't figure out how different Axin was being having figured out his qualities.
"Axin, the custom had always been like that and I can't do anything to change it now"
"Make the right decision Colan,Adriele is yours to rule..you either choose to follow the custom which some other king would change later in the future or you make your daughter happy"Axin said turning to leave
"It's your choice to make friend" he continued his back still facing O'colan ,before he walked away.
King O'colan walked towards his bed as he sat heavily on the bed, thinking of what Axin had told him. He realised at that moment that he had to make the right decision.
He removed his crown and placed it on the table beside his bed,he felt his head throbbing and rubbed his temples gently.
He was so confused,he had no idea what to do.
Make the right decision Colan,Adriele is yours to rule..you either choose to follow the custom which some other king would change later in the future or you make your daughter happy"
His little conversation with Axin kept ringing in his head.
