Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 This day

In the air stood a lonely figure. A woman so beautiful, anyone would think it is blasphemy to even glance in her direction. Beautiful red hair billowing in the air. Her skin; as delicate as porcelain, glistening in a golden hue. She had her eyes closed, her eyelashes a tint of red and beautifully long.

If Jane saw this woman right now, she would recognize this woman as her mother.

The droning sound started. Her eyes snapped open. Blazing red eyes burning with a yellow hue graced this world with its vision. Time seemed to slow. A golden circle slowly manifested between her shoulder blades. It detached from her back to float behind her.

It grew in not even a forearm in diameter. Uriel spread her arms. At the same moment, 6 red-golden wings sprouted from the golden ring floating behind her. If one saw them, they would think they were from the most holy of holiest creature dare to ever exist. The wings had long feathers perfectly inlaid to each other.

Uriel focused on the incoming plane in front of her. The plane that held her son. She hated the fact that she had to do this. But it is the only way. For a mother to see their children grow up and leave to live on their own does something to them.

You wouldn't want someone who you would lay your life down for, leave. But there is always the thought of them visiting in the future. But for Uriel, it is a whole different situation. She won't know when she will ever see her son again. The only comfort she has is that her husband has a connection to him.

Time seemed to slow down. Feathers detached from her wings. 120 feathers slowly danced around her trying to comfort her in any way possible. "I'm sorry, this is the only way." As trying to convince herself, she uttered these words.

She brought her hands together in a praying sign. She closed her eyes to concentrate. Dense golden fog wafted from her body, surrounding her in the sky. The feathers began to glow golden. The feathers started to move around leaving behind lines of gold.

If one could gaze upon the phenomenon that is being created right now. They would say that is the work of a god. The delicate swishes from the feathers could even lullaby a raging bull to sleep. A massive golden circular array of intricate patterns and runes formed behind Uriel.

Time stopped. The plane was practically in touching distance from Uriel. How the pilots didn't see the massive golden array or even the beautiful Angel in front of them, comes because of the fact another array was previously prepared by Uriel. It was an array that would obstruct any vision that gazed in her direction to be shown like she wasn't there.

Uriel opened her eyes again. The array started to slowly spin. "Be strong my child." She lightly tapped the nose of the plane and the spinning array whizzed forward. Disappearing into nothingness. Taking the plane with it.

A single tear fell down Uriel's cheek. As if the heavens shared her pain, the droning sound became louder and louder. Almost shattering the eardrums of everyone on Earth. Uriel looked up. Clouds moved and conversed collapsing and reappearing.

A massive explosion of essence pushed its way out of Earth's core. Uriel shakes her head furiously. She spread her hands out again. Taking control of the essence. Her feathers whizzed in all directions, 35 staying behind. Stopping above the center of 85 cities.

The feathers again started glowing golden. They started creating minuscule patterns and runes engraving them into the fabric of reality of Earth. Standing directly below these 85 feathers stood valiant figures. All are unique in their own way. In 4 cities there stood pairs, a man and woman.

All looking above, at the feather. They all slowly floated towards the feather. They all stretched out a hand and mixed their essence with that of Earth's which was being greedily being sucked up by the little arrays the feathers made.

Back in the car with Jane and her dad. Jane heard the car door open and close. She looked towards her father slowly walking away. His head held high, looking above. Only when Jane followed his gaze, she couldn't see anything.

She looked around, now only noticing the cars frozen in place and birds suspended in the air like time stopped. The droning sound suddenly invaded her senses. "Ugh..." Trying to cover her ears her attention went back to her father.

Shock colored her face, which slowly melded into interest and excitement. There she saw her father step into the air, like ascending a flight of stairs. And then he vanished from her sight.

The droning sound changed to that of a low rumbling. But only the figures giving their essence to the arrays knew what this sound meant. The world, Earth itself, was taking over the process of what was happening right now.

Uriel who had her 35 remaining feathers creating arrays after arrays, softly smiled. "You know as good as us that this is necessary. After you asked for our help those countless years ago, you knew what you signed up for. You will be safe this way. You can grow at your own pace."

As in response to her words, the low rumbling changed to that of a soft humming.

Her feathers finished the last strokes. Earth itself taking control of the arrays. Making changes as it saw fit. Copying them over and over again until it covered the whole of Earth, for everyone to see.

The gold was so bright. Some would think heaven was descending. This day would have come to be known as 'Heaven's Descent'. The day Earth was sealed off to the vast universe it was about to join.

Uriel stood in the air staring into the distance. Waiting for her feathers to come back. Even with all the power in the universe. Having the weather change on her whim, the earth changing on her command. Stars shifting themselves on her every thought. She couldn't change the course of the inevitable, sending her son into the vast universe this world just sealed itself off from.
