Chapter 28 - Auction House

The Saint Remains City was rather well known throughout the Cangman Continent, in fact, it was one of the territories that many people travelled to out of desire. Just outside the town was both the legendary Saint Remains Domain, and the Gu Territory, which held a tower known as the Spirit Refining Tower, regarded as one of the most valuable Cultivating tools outside of the facilities handled by the 6 Great Sects. In accordance with this people would stay and move between both the township and city depending on what opportunities arose in each.

The city itself was a rather bustling one with stalls, shops and inns all over the place. Apparently, these were all to accommodate the people who visited whenever the tower opened in the Gu Territory as they didn't have the space, or whenever the Saint Remains Domain was about to open, which explained why everything was busy and extremely full. It was not only because the tower had just opened a few days earlier, but the opening of the Domain was also occurring in the next few days. Julong couldn't even get a room to stay in, it was seriously that busy.

Thankfully though, he was given some good news from an information broker, who told him that there was only one currency throughout the Heavens inhabited by humans. In other words, he was filthy rich thanks to the money Zi Xiao had given him when he was in the Zixiao Region. Inside of his universe bag, he held at least a billion Genesis Crystals. To put it in perspective, you could buy a whole territory for Four Hundred Million Genesis Crystals. And that was merely a tiny shaving of Zi Xiao's resources.

When the broker he was talking to found out about it from his expression alone, he was very quick to recommend him to an auction that was taking place a few minutes down the path. They were supposedly selling all sorts, including even a Little Heaven Genesis Technique.

As such there wasn't any reason for him to not go check out the auction. So he did. Or he would have if it had not ended by the time he had arrived.

Just looking inside and seeing everyone holding newly bought items it was plain to see that everything had been sold already. There was only one thing that piqued his interest through the crowd and that was a rather heated conversation that was being had between two parties. He thought nothing of it and was about to turn head and leave when his Ancestral Dragon Spirit told him to go inside and toward the conversation in the middle of the room.

It had never been wrong before, so he trusted going inside was the right choice.

Looking at everyone compared to him, he looked to be a much higher class in both looks and clothing, gaining the stares of interest from those around him, all but the ones who were arguing.

"Who is that?"

"He looks like someone important."

"Yeah, why is he here?"

Conversations died down and turned into whispers, allowing only the argument in the centre to be heard.

It was mainly between a man with burgundy hair, who seemed to be some sort of Junior City Lord, and another man who had blue hair tied back in a ponytail, with similar coloured robes to match.

"As long as you return the treasure you stole, Gu Ling said that she would let bygones be bygones. If you feel I am worthy, I can help resolve the grudge between the two of you and allow you two enemies to become friends."

Said the one with burgundy hair, referring back to the white-haired woman behind him. He was assuming that this person was Gu Ling.

"I can't be bothered to elaborate on the Gu Clans dirty tactics, but they tried to silence us, and if not for our resourcefulness, our fates would be rather grim. So don't even dream about me returning the treasure to the Gu Clan."

Uproar echoed throughout the hall after what he said. The blue-haired boy was obviously a traveller who had just come from the Gu territory after stirring some trouble.

Who he was assuming was Gu Ling then opened her mouth, pretending to play the victim in the situation. Only serving to rouse even more anger from the crowd who were watching.

"It seems that my family has really offended you, why else would you refuse even the Junior City Lord and the rest of these incredibly talented geniuses."

What a manipulative tongue she had.

That was finally when he felt a familiar gaze come upon his body. Looking to his right where he felt the gaze come from, he saw the shocked face of a boy or at least someone who looked like a boy. Julong quite easily deduced that this was no boy, but Yao Yao.

So that's why his Spirit brought him inside. Perfect. If this was the case he was assuming the blue-haired boy was none other than her travel companion, Zhou Yuan. He had seen glimpses of his stature when he was watching Yao Yao, so there was no doubt. In which case, it was time for him to step in.

"Such low forms of trickery. Are the people of this region so foolish as to fall for the charms of the first woman they see?"

Stepping past the remaining crowd who dared get in his way of walking, he stopped in front of the people fighting, though obviously further to the side of Zhou Yuan. This simple action incited silence throughout the hall, those who were roaring with rage a few moments before could only stare at the sheer brilliance of the one now in front of them.

"The treasure of the Gu Clan was indeed stolen, but that does not mean you should resort to such trickery, Gu Ling. It's quite... unsightly and unattractive, something that you don't want to become more of, otherwise, you might just take on the looks of a pig."

While he didn't particularly like acting the way he was, he deemed such a tone necessary.

From his words, both the Junior City Lord and Gu Ling grit their teeth, obviously not very happy. Just from what he was wearing they could tell he was very important somewhere.

"After all the Saint Remains Domain is about to open, is it not? When it does, please be my guest to attack them with everything you have in your arsenal. You will of course retrieve the treasure, have you the ability. But I will have it be known that they will be under my protection and that any action you take will be paid for in full. After all, we cannot be blamed if you pay a particularly high price in the end."

His eyes narrowed on the two before him as a domineering pressure overtook the room.

"If you wish to go after them, I would be more than happy to break you."

As Gu Ling and the City Lord recoiled from the aggressive patenting, a soft giggle came from the corner. It was a fairly beautiful girl who had been sitting on one of the windows watching the confrontation.

She had long black hair with a blue ribbon tying the back of her hair together. Her clothes consisted of a black shoulderless dress, with yet another blue ribbon around her waist.

Her status spoke for itself as it seemed as though everyone in the room minus a select few knew who she was.

"What a domineering Young Master. I really like that."

She gently placed her foot on the ground and launched off from where she was sitting, beginning to walk over to Julong, not even paying attention to the others around her.

"Is that Zouqiu Quinyu?"

"She just as beautiful as they say."

The City Lord looked toward her lazily, with a look which was disapproving of her attendance.

"Zouqiu Quinyu..."

She ignored his stare and dashed through the crowd that was blocking her - faster than they could see if the uproar was anything to go by. Julong was unable to see what the fuss was about, he was able to see her fine.

"Hey, what's your name, Young Master?"

She wore a very intrigued look, almost one of fascination. It was a look Julong did not like.

"Wan Julong."

She seemed to smile gleefully.

"What a noble name, befitting of someone as handsome as yourself.

"Let's be friends, okay?"

Julong grinned with a small nod of his head. He then looked back toward Gu Ling and the City Lord who he had still not managed to get the name of.

"If you want your treasure, make sure to come and take it. There is no point in using such petty tricks."

With that, he turned his head back to Yao Yao. He ignored all in his general vicinity, moving toward her. After a few seconds, he was there, finally in front of the one he had wanted to meet in person for so very long.

"You've finally come, Julong. I began to think you forgot about me."

Julong smiled at her mockery of him.

"Well, I'm here now."

He put his hand out for her to take. Despite dressing like a boy, she let that small etiquette pass and gently took his hand, allowing him to pull her up, much to Zhou Yuan's visible surprise.

"Come, you two. We're leaving."

Yao Yao was obviously referring to Zhou Yuan and the small green-haired girl beside him.

The four began to walk out the door, followed by Zouqiu Quinyu. As they did he could feel the scrutinizing glare of the two he had just threatened. He did nothing but smirk.
