Chapter 18 - Ancestral Dragon Spirit

Ancestral Dragon Will was something that couldn't be refined, as it was far too divine. It was the same thing that made up part of the Sacred Dragon Blessing, which was why he wasn't too surprised at the revelation. But it was in this instance, with his knowledge of his blessing not being a true blessing, he deduced something.

He had never met his father.

He was never sure why he never met his father. The Wan family would always tell him to be quiet if he ever asked, but it all made sense now.

He didn't hold a blessing. His spirit was the spirit of the Ancestral Dragon, which had allowed him to be birthed in the first place. He was by no means the original Ancestral Dragon, nor a reincarnation, as the Founding God was long dead. However, he was the somewhat legitimate son of the Ancestral Dragon if one wanted to look at it as such. Saying so wasn't so definitive though - he had essentially stolen the broken spirit of the Ancestral God, and if he was correct, was restoring it.

From this, he could come to the conclusion that he was a half-divine being. He wasn't a real person, and it was quite understandably something he couldn't properly comprehend.

A small stir came from what he had now deduced was his very unique spirit. It gave him information ascertaining to his correct assumption, and how he could restore it. According to the information given, there would be no downside, nor repercussions to fully restoring his spirit, and would only make him stronger. As for how to do it, he simply needed to absorb the Will around him.

That was definitely something that sounded easier said than done since even Saints had issues when refining mere flesh of the Ancestral Dragon, not even its Will. However, he had learned that he would have no such issue since the Will was technically his.

But that also brought up another fact. In other words, the Ancestral Dragon Will inside of the mountain had called him to come to absorb it. What an incredible feat. It showed just a glimpse of how outstanding it actually was.

He quickly sat down on top of the mountain, crossing his legs and forming a seal with his hands. He closed his eyes and activated his spirit. He was prepared for a rather rough ride.

He looked around the mountain and his attention focused on a blaring and beautiful source of divine matter. This was of course the Ancestral Dragon Will that had called him there.

It was rather small, containing only a dozen wisps, but it would still be more than enough to get the hang of what he had to do.

He honed in on it and as if commanding it, willed it to move toward him so he could refine and absorb it.

The wisp burst out of the mountain, causing the whole mountain to shake underneath them. They stood there for a few seconds under Julong's command. A few moments later they shot toward Julongs body, entering without hesitation or any rejection from Julong himself.

Once inside, the refining process began. As soon as he started on the first wisp, he knew it was going to take a while. Time flew by, and just doing a small amount of the one wisp had taken a few hours already.

He didn't mind though, inside of his body he had noticed another scale on the body on the Ancestral Dragon light up. It might have been one of a million, but it was still progress, and he had already felt the slight increase in power.

No matter how long it took, it would be worth it.

A month slowly trickled by with Julong sitting on the peak of the mountain inside of the domain. He had felt Zi Xiao's gaze come upon him a few times while he refined the Ancestral Dragon Will. He felt a little bad about not having seen her at her own request, but he was sure she would be happy with his progress when he returned. The Will was strengthening his spirit, body and Qi in immeasurable ways after all.

Another month had slowly passed before Julong finally opened his eyes. They were slit momentarily before returning to normal, showing he had been in touch with the Dragon Will.

He had become rather delighted with his progress throughout the time he had been Cultivating. He was at the very peak of the Middle Stage of the Qi Nourishing Realm and there were at least a hundred scales lit up on the body of the Ancestral Dragon.

Although he had initially only meant to go there for one day, his harvest was much greater than anything he could have imagined and was no dissatisfied in the slightest. Until then he had still been at around the low end of the Middle Stage, but now with some standard Cultivation, he was sure to enter the Advanced Stage.

A few moments later, space fluttered in front of him, distorting into a tear, revealing Zi Xiao. Who else would have come to see him at such a crucial point?

"Honestly, if I had known that you would be here so long, I would have had our conversation before we left."

She was slowly shaking her head at her judgement.

"Though I will say, the progress you have made is worthy of the time you have spent here. If you Cultivate for a little, you should be able to achieve a Perfect Breakthrough into the Advanced Stage."

She was obviously mocking him since he had purposefully not stepped into the Advanced Realm yet. She had chosen to mock him so because Perfect Breakthroughs were only important when it came to breaking through into different realms, not for different stages. This was because you could catch up, and your potential for each realm would be fully reached if you achieved a Perfect Breakthrough, regardless.

Julong knew this but hadn't broken through yet because his blessing had told him that breaking through with Dragon Will could potentially harm his foundation because of their current power disparity. Once he reached a higher Realm he would be able to safely do so, but not currently. While he could refine it thanks to his Ancestral Dragon Spirit, he could not properly control it, which was why refining had taken so long in the first place.

"I intend to break through into the Advanced stage in a few days. It was something advised by my blessing."

He purposely told her a white lie, which was not exactly a lie, since it held some truth. If he had elected to tell her the full truth, she would have to report such groundbreaking information to the other Saints, regardless of him being her disciple or not, and that would of course, not be a good thing for him. At least not at his current juncture.

She shrugged and gestured toward the tear in space.

"Come with me. We have much to talk about. It would appear that I finally get to learn what your real last name is."

Julong blanched at this. He stiffened. Even if she didn't seem angry about it, he wouldn't dare be disrespectful now that she knew he had lied.

"Yes, Master!"

She stifled her giggles at his reaction, simply walking through the spatial tear, not turning back to acknowledge him. Why would she? It was far more entertaining this way.

He quickly followed behind her wondering what was about to happen. Was he going to meet Wan Zu? Was she going to punish him?

Shit.
