Chapter 23 - Chapter XX

"Alright, that's it for class today. There's only one week left before your final exams begin. I'm sure you're all studying constantly, right?" Aizawa voiced as he gazed upon the students. "Don't forget to keep training. The written exam is only one element. There's also the practical portion to worry about. Good luck." He then left the classroom and suddenly everyone was talking. "I've barely even taken notes this semester!" Kaminari both Kaminari and Mina exclaimed, one nonchalant while the other freaked out. "Between the Sports Festival and the internship, it totally slipped my mind!!" "It's true that we haven't had very much free time lately." Tokoyami chimed in and Kurmara giggled a little as she listened in on the rest of her classmates. "--I think the finals're gonna be much harder..." "As someone who ranked in the top ten, I'm not that concerned. Sucks that there's gonna be a practical exam too." Mineta voiced cockily as he sat at his desk. "N-ninth on the midterms?!" The electric teen and the pink teen exclaimed together. "We thought you were one of us!" Mina huffed. "Guys like you are only loveable when you're morons! There's just no demand for whatever you actually are!!" Denki voiced. "Such as life.." Practical exam.. Kurmara thought to herself, her classmates tuning out as she thought about what she'd have to do.

She doesn't only have to study for the finals but work on herself as well. I could always ask Eun for help on the Quirk training.. She thought before turning back to her classmates, hearing that Momo offered to help a few that were struggling. "--let us hold a study session at my residence this weekend!" Momo voiced happily. "Seriously? I can't wait to see your house!" Mina jumped. Kurmara giggled to herself again as she wrote down a few ideas for the training she would present to her brother. I shouldn't just automatically assume he'll help me since it's a practical exam, he might give me some tips but have me train myself.. The teen was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice Uraraka tap her desk. "Hey, Hayashi," The floaty girl got her attention and Kurmara snapped her head up. "Oh! H-hey. Sorry, I was just writing a few things down." She voiced as she closed her notebook and slid it into her book bag. "It's okay, I just figured you'd wanna come get lunch? We could talk more about what the practical exams will be about." Uraraka voiced with a smile and Kurmara nodded before standing up. "Heyyy~ Mind if I join you guys?" Mina questioned as she linked arms with Kurmara. "Sure, it's not a problem for us." Deku said with a smile and the five of them headed to the cafeteria.

"The practical exam, huh? It's kinda scary since I can't tell what'll be on it." Midoriya voiced as they all sat at the table together. "I don't think it will consist of anything particularly unusual." Iida said with reassurance. "The written exam questions will come from what we study in class, so I should be able to manage somehow, but.." Midoriya voiced as he began to eat. "You can manage the academic subjects, huh.." Uraraka muttered. "I think I should be able to understand most of what we covered," Kurmara added with a shrug before taking a bite of her food. "It's probably a comprehensive test of everything from the first semester." Hagakure chimed in. "I mean, that's all Aizawa sensei would tell us." Tsuyu mentioned. "Everything we did so far.. So battle training, rescue training, and basic training, right?" "In addition to studying, we'll have to keep in good physical condit-" Midoriya was interrupted by someone bumping the back of his head. "Oh, sorry. My tray just couldn't get around that big head of yours." A boy with blonde hair voiced. "You're from Class B.. um... Monoma! How dare you?!" "I heard you guys met with the Hero Killer. Just like at the Sports Festival, you guys in Class A just have to have all the attention, huh?" The boy, Monoma, voiced and Kurmara rolled her eyes as she took a sip of her drink, listening to what he had to say.

"--because you keep attracting trouble, right? Ooh, that's scary. Someday, the rest of us might also be caught up in the trouble you bring and become victims as well... Like getting cursed by the god of pestilence!" This kid has some nerve.. Kurmara thought as she squinted at him before opening them wide when a girl with orange hair whapped him, causing him to fall to the ground and she grabbed his tray before he did. "Monoma, that's not funny. Don't you know what happened to Iida?" She questioned and Kurmara immediately recognized her. "Kendo!" Both she and Iida exclaimed before looking at one another. "Sorry, Class A. This guy's heart's just kinda, you know." What heart? Kurmara thought as she watched the orange-haired girl grab him by the back of his shirt. "I heard you guys saying you're not sure about the practical exam. Between you and me, I hear it'll be a battle against robots, like in the Entrance Exam." She mentioned to them and everyone perked. "What, really? How do you know?" Midoriya asked. "An upperclassman friend of mine told me. It's a little unfair, I know." Kendo responded. "No, not at all. Preliminary intel gathering is just one of the aspects of the exam..." "And there he goes." Kurmara giggled to herself before taking a bite of her food. While Midoriya was mumbling to himself, Mina let out a small sound before looking at Kurmara.

"I dare you to go give Bakugou a kiss." Mina suddenly voiced and she choked. "W-what?" The teen coughed, Uraraka patting her back. "You heard me. I dare you to get up and go kiss Bakugou." Kurmara looked over to the table where Bakugou sat, taking note of who sat near and next to him before shaking her head. "No way, I'm not doing that. He already doesn't like me as it is and I don't need him to hate me." She told her friend as she continued to eat her lunch. "Ashido, I don't think it's wise to make such dares like that, especially if it includes someone such as Bakugou, considering his temper." Iida voiced but the pink teen just rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to Kurmara. "That's fine. I guess I'll just tell Kiri that you're dating Bakugou." Kurmara looked at Mina who had a smirk on her face. "But I'm not." "He doesn't know that. Besides, he'll know Bakugou wouldn't say anything anyways so-" "Alright, alright!" Kurmara huffed in defeat before looking back at the other table. "Does it have to be on the lips?" "Nope. It can either be the forehead or cheek, you just have to kiss him." The pink teen confirmed and her friend let out a shaky breath before standing up, heading towards where the boys were all sitting and laughing. Her heart was pounding so hard that she could feel it in her ears and her hands were sweaty, she could barely breathe.

Kurmara walked over to where Bakugou sat, ignoring Denki and Sero greeting her as she focused on what she had to do. The explosive boy turned to see Kurmara standing behind him and he turned his whole body. "What the hell do you want? Why are you over here?" He asked her, staring at her with the same cold expression that made her want to turn back, but she just closed her eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again. She then grabbed his chin and turned his head before she gave him a kiss on the cheek, collective gasps sounding from the table. She let go of him and turned to quickly head back to the table with her friends, sitting next to Mina before burying her head into her friend's shoulder. "You did it, it's okay." Mina patted her friend, a smile in her voice. "You can breathe now," Jiro told her and Kurmara let out a small gasp, breathing heavily. "I can't believe you did that," Uraraka voiced, Hagakure and Momo agreeing. "The fact he just sat there after you left.." Deku expressed with disbelief before chuckling a little. "I bet you flustered him," Tsuyu spoke and Kurmara looked at her. "No way, if anything I'm the flustered one. Plus, I was terrified! All the boys saw it and Bakugou is going to come for my throat!" She exclaimed. "Who knows, maybe you managed to make him blush." The girls, as well as Iida and Midoriya, laughed a little and Kurmara joined.

"That would be interesting if I caused that always-angry boy to blush." The group finished their lunch before heading back to the classroom, continuing their discussion about how the practical exam will go now that they'd figured out they'll most likely go against robots.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"All right!" Denki and Mina exclaimed together once everyone was back in the classroom. "Oh, it'll be easy if it's robots!" Denki exclaimed. "You guys look like you'd have a hard time controlling your Quirks against people." Shoji voiced to the electric and pink teen. "Yeah! But I can just let loose with robots, so it'll be an easy win!" Kaminari voiced. "Now you just need Yaoyorozu to help you study and you'll be set for the finals." Sero chimed in. "Watch out Summer Training camp, 'cuz here we come!!" Kurmara laughed at the two teens as she thought about how she'll go about using her Quirks during the practical exam. "I need to think about this a bit so I can manage my training schedule.." The teen voiced to herself and scribbled a few things into a notebook until she heard Bakugou. "-the same if you beat 'em up, right? What're you idiots talking about it being an easy win?" The explosive boy queried, causing Mina and Kaminari to face him. "Who're you calling an idiot?!" Denki pointed at the boy who quickly faced them both. "Shut up! If you need to control your Quirk, then control it, Idiot!" He then turned to look at Midoriya. "Hey, Deku, I don't know if you've figured out how to use your Quirk a little or what, but you seriously keep rubbing me the wrong way. Stop pissing me off with all these stunts." He told the green-haired boy and Kurmara's mind immediately went back to when he was moving around during the race.

"He must be talking about the other day when he was moving like Bakugou." Uraraka voiced. "Oh yeah." "I don't need another half-assed result like at the Sports Festival. When it comes to our term grades, like it or not, I'm gonna crush you into dust! I'll beat you with an indisputable difference. I'll kill you!" He finished before turning to Todoroki. "You too, Todoroki!" The explosive boy then walked towards the door and slammed it open before walking away. "It's been a while since I've seen Bakughou that intense..." Kirishima voiced uneasily. "Is it uneasiness? Or sheer hatred?" Tokoyami questioned. "Kurmara shook her head before sliding her notebooks into her book bag and stood up to leave, thinking about the studying and physical training she'll have to do before exams. But for now, I just have to worry about the written exam and studying.. She thought with a sigh as she headed home.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the final exams approached, Kurmara felt a mix of nerves and determination. She had spent countless hours studying, ensuring she was well-prepared for the written portion. The three days of exams seemed both daunting and exciting.

On the first day, Kurmara sat in her assigned seat, pen in hand, ready to tackle the questions. The room was filled with the hushed sound of students flipping through pages and scratching their pens against paper. As she read through the exam questions, Kurmara's mind raced, trying to recall the information she had studied. Throughout the three days, Kurmara encountered some challenging questions that tested her knowledge and critical thinking. At times, she struggled to find the right answers, but she pushed through, reminding herself of the effort she had put into her preparations. She leaned on her determination and remembered the countless study sessions with her classmates, each one helping to solidify her understanding of the material. On the final day of the written exams, the tension in the room was palpable. The students were eager to complete this phase of their tests and move on to the practical portion. Aizawa, their stern yet caring teacher, stood before them, his gaze steady.

"Alright, class," Aizawa began, his voice tearing the students attentions from their papers. "You have completed the written portion of your final exams. Now, remember that your results will play a crucial role in determining your overall grades, so make sure to give your best effort in the practical exams as well." The room filled with a mix of relief and anticipation as the students exchanged glances, acknowledging the journey they had been through together. Kurmara felt a sense of camaraderie among her classmates. They had supported and motivated each other, creating a bond that went beyond the challenges of their exams. As everyone turned their papers in, Kurmara found herself caught up in conversations with her friends. They discussed the difficult questions, shared their strategies, and offered words of encouragement to one another. Despite the exhaustion, their spirits remained high.

"Thanks, Yao-momo!" Mina exclaimed, giving Yaoyorozu a grateful smile. "Your study guides really helped me out!" Yaoyorozu blushed, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "I'm glad they were useful, Ashido. You did an amazing job too!" Denki chimed in, grinning. "I didn't leave anything blank, at least! Thanks for the tips, Yaoyorozu!" Momo nodded, pleased to see her classmates benefiting from her guidance. Kurmara giggled at their banter, feeling a sense of warmth in their camaraderie. It was moments like these that reminded her of the bonds they had formed during their time at UA. They were not just classmates; they were a team, supporting and uplifting each other.

With laughter in the air and determination in their hearts, Kurmara walked alongside her classmates, ready to face the next phase of their journey. They had come this far together, and they would continue to navigate the challenges ahead as a united force.
