Chapter 25 - Chapter XXI

Kurmara walked down the hallway and through the door, immediately hearing her friends talking about how they did on the practical exam. "Everyone.. I'm looking forward.. to hearing your stories about training camp." Mina cried, the other boys looking solemn alongside her. "W-We don't know for sure yet! There might be a last-minute twist!" Midoriya voiced to them. "Stop, Midoriya. If you say it out loud, it'll probably jinx it." Sero said as he put a hand on Midoriya's shoulder. "If we failed the exams, then we'd have to skip training camp and be in summer school hell," Denki said, his back turned towards the green-haired boy. "And since we didn't pass the practical exam... if you guys still don't get it, then you're dumber than monkeys!" He shouted as he poked two fingers in Deku's eyes. Kurmara giggled a little as she listened to her classmates. "I don't know either. Our team passed thanks to Mineta, but I was just sleeping the whole time. Anyway, since we don't know how they're scoring it.." Sero voiced. "If you feel bad for us, then I dunno, just bring me back lots of stuff!" Denki cried out. The door suddenly swung open to reveal Aizawa and everyone ran to their seats. "Once the bell rings, get in your seats." He said to the students and everyone was quiet. "Morning. Unfortunately, there are those who did not pass the final exams." He announced to the class.

"Accordingly, for the training camp in the woods... Everyone's going!" "A last-minute twist!" "We can go too?!" Kirishima questioned excitedly. "Really?!" "Yeah. Some failed, but no one failed the written exam. In the practical, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, Sato, and Sero failed." Aizawa said as he listed the ones who failed. "For this time's exam, we on the villain side made sure to leave a way for the students to win while watching to see how you all would take on the task at hand. If we hadn't, most of you would've gotten stuck before you started." "So when you said you were really out to crush us..." Ojiro spoke up. "That was to make you feel cornered. In the first place, the training camp in the woods is one to increase strength. So those who failed need it most. They have to get stronger." Hm.. So it's to help them increase their strength in case something happens when they're fighting against real villains. Kurmara thought as she continued to listen. "However, since you lied to us twice, our faith in you will waver!" Iida jumped out of his seat with his hand raised. "That's true. I'll consider that. But I wasn't lying about everything." Aizawa said. "Failure is failure. We have a separate time for extra lessons for you all."

"Frankly, it'll be tougher than the extra lessons you'd get if you stayed at school," Aizawa told the small group who had failed.

It was after school now and classes had gone smoothly throughout the day. Kurmara was getting her things together, ready to leave the class. "Are you excited for the training camp, Hayashi?" She heard Uraraka ask and looked up at her friend with a smile. "I am. But also a bit nervous as well." She said honestly and the brown-haired girl nodded. "Yeah, it does seem like it'll be a lot, but even so, it's going to be great because we will get to train ourselves more!" "You're right, that's the part that excites me for this trip." A few of their classmates were talking nearby about how they would need a bunch of things for their time at training camp. "Oh, then since we're off tomorrow and we just finished our exams, why doesn't Class A all go shopping together?!" Hagakure suggested happily. "Oh, good idea!" Denki agreed. "Wouldn't that be the first time we all hung out together?" Kurmara smiled as she grabbed her book bag, heading towards the door. "You coming with us, Hayashi?" She heard Sero question and she nodded. "Of course! It sounds amazing and it'll be great to hang out with you guys!" She voiced with a smile before heading out of the classroom and down the hall of the school.

This is going to be so cool! She thought excitedly as she walked down the street to her neighbourhood. I can't wait for tomorrow to come! She giggled to herself as she threw her hands in the air, water flinging around her. Once she got home, she set her bag on the chair in the living room before quickly heading to her room to plan an outfit for tomorrow. She went through her drawers before looking at her mannequin she had one of the six outfits she had created before getting an idea. She pulled the mannequin out of her closet and opened the doors wider to reveal her clothes that were hung up. She went through them and took them out, looking at herself in the mirror as she held each outfit to her. "This is going to be a hard decision.." She huffed to herself before putting a few of them back in her closet. "Hey, I thought I heard you come home." She heard her brother's voice and turned to see him standing in her doorway. "Ah, hey Eun. I'm just trying to decide on an outfit for tomorrow. My class and I are going shopping together!" She told him with a smile. "That sounds fun. What are you guys going to shop for?" He asked as he stepped further into her room, picking up one of the outfits she put over her chair.

"Just a few things for the training camp. I'm having a hard time choosing an outfit though," Kurmara sighed. "And none of the ones you created are going to work?" He queried as he hung the outfit in her closet, looking at a few others and she shook her head. "No. I don't know why, but they don't seem like a good thing to wear. Not yet at least..." She said as she sat on her bed. Eun looked through her clothes that hung on hangers before pulling two of them out. "What about one of these?" He queried and she looked up at him before smiling and shaking her head. "They're good, but they both have pants so it's not-" "So? Just because they're pants doesn't mean you can't wear them. Besides, these are tank tops, so it'll work. They're not black, so you won't get too hot." He voiced with a smile and she shook her head again, this time laughing. "Since you know so much about fashion, which one would be-" "This one." He interrupted as he laid one of them next to her before putting the other back in her closet. "This one?" "That one." "You sure?" "Of course. Besides, I know you'd probably want to show off your skills to your friends, classmates, and crush." Eun said as he walked out of her room.

Kurmara's ears burned when her brother said crush, but he did have a point. She always wanted to show her friends one of the many skills she had outside of school, but just never had the time. "Maybe that time is tomorrow.." She thought as she hung the outfit on the back of her desk chair. She closed her door and changed into some nightclothes and climbed into her bed, excitement running through her mind as she tried to go to sleep.

The next day, Kurmara changed into the outfit her brother had chosen before fixing her hair. She walked out of her room and towards the front of the house and slid some shoes on. "I'll be back later, Eun!" She called out to her brother before walking out the front door and down the street, messaging the little group chat that had her and her classmates in it.

I just left my house, I'll meet you guys in a while.

She hit send to the chat before her phone chimed multiple times and a few of her classmates responded.

Deku; I'm going to leave soon!

Sero; If I see you, we can walk together Hayashi!

Kiri; I just left as well

Bolt; I might be a bit late...

Min; Let's meet up soon!

Baku; Shut the hell up

Jirou; Just mute it then.

Kurmara chuckled as she put her phone in her pocket, walking down the street until she was finally in the city. She was at a crosswalk, waiting for it to change when she suddenly heard someone behind her. "Hayashi!" She turned to see Sero waving at her and she waved back. "Hey! You live around here too?" She asked and he nodded. "I do. It makes getting to school easier, not to mention getting into the city as well." He responded and they began to walk across the street. "This is going to be so cool!" She smiled at him and he agreed. "It is. It will be the first time everyone is together that doesn't involve school." "And that's going to be the best part about this entire thing." The two of them chatted a bit more until they met with a few other classmates and headed towards the mall, meeting with everyone else. "And so here we are! With the most stores in the prefecture, the newest and coolest, most advanced– Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall!" Mina voiced excitedly and Kurmara looked around with amazement. "Woah.. so cool.." She voiced and they all walked around together. "Ah, Hayashi, I didn't say this before, but I like your outfit!" Mina complimented the teen whose ear burned with slight embarrassment.

"T.. thank you.. I actually made it myself!" She said proudly, Mina's eyes sparkling. "Really?!" The pink girl questioned as she put a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Oh, aren't those UA students?!" A voice shouted out suddenly and they turned to see a few people staring at them "Sports festival, yay!" "Oh, there are still people who remember that.." Uraraka voiced and Kurmara giggled. "Everyone has different things they want to do, so why don't we decide on a time to meet back up?" Kirishima suggested and everyone agreed. "Then let's meet back here at three o'clock!" "Okay!" "Hayashi, come with me!" Mina said as she linked arms with the short-haired girl, who laughed. "Alright!" The two girls quickly left the area and went up the escalators to one of the top floors. "What do you need for this trip?" The pink teen asked the freckled teen. "Ah, well I might need a bigger bag as well as new hair clips.." She voiced as she thought about a few of the things she needed. "Then let's go find stores that have bags! I might need a new one as well." She voiced, pulling the Hayashi teen along. The girls entered one of the stores and looked around, checking out a few of the bags they had. Kurmara grabbed one of them and put it on her shoulder before checking out another one.

"I think I like this one better, I always have a shoulder bag for school, so I'll go with this one." She voiced to Mina who had a big sunhat on, making Kurmara laugh. "That's a nice one. It seems a bit small though, won't you need a slightly bigger one?" She questioned, taking the oversized hat off and putting it back up. "Well, I won't need a bunch of things.. But you're right. Besides, they have many different ones over here." She commented as the two looked through some more, finally choosing a blue patterned one. The girls left the store and checked out a few more, managing to get a few necessities they needed. "I think we have what we need, don't you?" Kurmara queried and Mina nodded. "Yeah. We don't need a lot, so this small amount should be good since we're bringing our own things." The two walked around a bit more before Mina gasped, making Kurmara raise a brow at her. "What's wrong?" She asked and Mina had a smile on her face. "I have a great idea! Let's find a few of our friends and take a picture together!" She suggested and the teen nodded. "That sounds good, but who is close enough?" Kurmara queried as they looked around for a few of their classmates, immediately spotting Tokoyami.

"Well, there's one." Kurmara chuckled and Mina nodded. "Let's split and find a few more. We'll meet where Tokoyami is." Mina said and the two of them walked opposite ways, looking for more of their classmates. While Kurmara searched for some classmates, she bumped into Kirishima. "Oops," she muttered as she fell backward, but he caught her just before she fell any further. "Hey, Hayashi," He greeted her with a smile and her face warmed up. "H.. hey.." He stood her up and they stood in front of each other, Kurmara almost forgetting what she was doing. "Ah, do you want to join a few of us for a picture?" She asked the red-haired boy and she smiled again. "Sure!" She returned the smile before nodding. "Awesome. Now, we just need to find Mina-" "Before we do that, I uh.. I have something to give to you." Kirishima interrupted and she looked back at him to see a pink tint to his face as he looked down. He then reached into his pocket and pulled something out, handing it to her. "I.. I figured that you could use these..." She looked at what he was holding to see a little pack that held hair clips. "I- thank you, Kiri.." She smiled at him as she grabbed the pack.

"There you are!" Mina's voice sounded behind them. "Come on, let's take that picture!" They both turned to see the pink girl with five of their friends with her. As everyone got together, Kurmara opened the little pack of hair clips and pulled her bangs to the side, pinning them back with one of the clips before getting ready to pose. "Okay, everyone ready?" "Ah- Denki, get off me!" Kurmara complained to the blonde boy before the picture was taken. Four pictures were taken of the group before they stopped posing. "These look great!" Mina exclaimed as she looked through them. "I'll send them to you guys after we're done." "Alright," Kurmara looked at her phone and saw that it was almost time for them to meet with everyone else. "Come on, let's-" She stopped when she looked over the railing down to where they were going to meet. "Isn't that..?" "There's a bunch of police with Midoriya, what happened?" "Let's go check on him." The group went down the stairs towards their friend. "Midoriya!" "Midoriya? You okay?!" The police stopped them all and ordered for the shopping mall to be closed temporarily, one of the officers speaking to the green-haired boy.

Later that day, the police had taken Midoriya with them to the station and everyone left, also with a police escort. Once the police had arrived at Kurmara's house, Eun rushed outside to meet her. "Kurmara!" He pulled her into a tight hug before looking her over. "Are you alright?! You're not hurt are you?" He questioned and she shook her head. "I'm fine, really." She responded and he stared at her for a moment before letting out a sigh. "Okay.. good. Come on, let's head inside." He voiced before he herded her inside the house after he thanked the officer who drove her home. Her brother offered to take the things she bought so she wouldn't have to worry about it and she handed them to him without fuss because he already seemed worried. "I'm going to take a shower then head to bed," Kurmara told him and he nodded. "Alright. If you need anything, just let me know, alright?" Eun questioned and she nodded before heading into the bathroom. Once she was back in her room laying in bed, she thought about back at the shopping mall and what Uraraka had told them.

"What's going on? Why are the police here?" Kurmara asked when the police searched around the mall. "There was a villain with Deku," the floaty girl told them and everyone looked at her in bewilderment and concern. "Whaaat?!" "Is he alright?" "Where did the villain go?" Everyone threw questions, more to themselves than at Uraraka. "I don't know, but he walked off casually as if nothing was wrong." She responded. "I called the police immediately though."

She sighed as she rolled onto her side, staring at her desk. While she was busy with Mina and their classmates, Midoriya had to endure dealing with a villain and that didn't sit right with her.

"So given what's happened.. we're on the lookout for these villains. And we've had to cancel our usual accommodations at the last minute. We won't reveal our actual destination until the day we depart." Aizawa told the class as he ripped a page in half. "Huh?!" "But I already told my parents." Sero voiced. "That's precisely the point, the school can't control who learns what or how," Yaoyorozu replied. "As long as we're not canceling the whole trip together!" Kurmara gave a small sigh as she sat back at her desk. Guess we'll know the real date when the trip actually happens... She thought. Once classes had ended, it officially marked the end of their semester, the beginning of their summer break. Before she left the class, Mina grabbed the girl from her desk and over to Yaoyorozu's in the farther part of the classroom. "Woa- Mina?" "Hold on, we need to talk about this." She interrupted before nodding. "I heard that we have to refrain from taking long trips during the summer." "What?" "Yeah. Apparently, it's a request from the school." Jirou voiced, confirming. "That's too bad. I was supposed to go to Venice with my parents." Momo voiced. "How bourgeois!" Uraraka voiced, falling a little.

"Aw, and I bought a new swimsuit too!" Mina sighed. "It can't be helped. We were attacked but the League of Villains before." Jirou said and Mina began to jump up and down. "Even so, I wanna play! I wanna go somewhere!" "Then, do you wanna meet up at the school pool over summer vacation?" Hagakure suggested and the girls perked up. "Yeah, if we're using the school pool, then I'm sure the teachers will give us permission." Tsuyu voiced. "That's a good idea! Then we wouldn't have to spend any money either." Uraraka added. "This will be good. We'll be able to cool off too." Kurmara commented, the girls agreeing. "Then I'll get permission from the school." Yaoyorozu voiced as she stood up as well.

It might've been summer break and everyone was getting ready for the training camp, but Kurmara still wanted to train herself a little. I might have my emotions under wraps, but that doesn't mean I can't keep trying. She thought to herself as she walked to the front of the house, sliding a pair of shoes on, and heading outside. Her phone chimed and she checked it to see a message from one of the girls.

Min; Hey! Do you need a ride to the school?

Ah! Yeah, I would appreciate it c:

She hit send and soon there was a honk, causing her to look to her left to see a car pulling in front of her. The window rolled down to reveal Mina smiling at her. "Hey-" "Get in, get in!" The pink girl interrupted as she opened the door and pulled her into the vehicle. The car pulled away from her house and down the street, leading into the city towards the school. Once the two girls exited the car, they walked onto the campus together, arms linked. "This feels kind of weird coming to the school without actually attending.." Kurmara voiced as they entered the building. "It does, doesn't it?" Mina agreed, looking around the empty halls. They walked towards the teacher's lounge, opening the door. "Excuse us.," Mina spoke as they entered halfway. "Yes? What is it, girls?" Aizawa queried towards them. "About the pool usage.." Kurmara spoke up and he nodded. "That's right. The other girls came as well to see about that. You can use the pool until five, the other girls should be there right now." He told them and they bowed. "Thank you!" The two then left the room and headed towards the locker room area to meet the rest of the girls.

"Hey, you made it!" Hagakure greeted them once they walked in. "Yeah. This'll be great to use the pool." Kurmara voiced with a smile as she opened her locker and began to put her things into it, grabbing the swimsuit and changing into it. "I heard the other boys were here as well." Uraraka voiced as she closed her locker. "Really? That's cool. Guess they wanted to join in using the pool as well." "They must've gotten permission as we did." Once the girls were changed into swimwear, they all walked out towards the pool area, greeting the boys that were there. "Why don't we do a little stretching before we enter the water?" Momo suggested and the girls settled. As they began to stretch, three more came out. "Oh, Mineta." "Kaminari, you came too?" Jirou questioned when they saw the boys. After they finished their stretches, they entered the pool. "Look at this!" Hagakure exclaimed to the girls and Kurmara saw that she tossed a ball into the pool. "Oh, cool! This way it'll be more fun." Kurmara voiced as she swam to it and tossed it into the air. The girls played around a bit more together before they got out. "Hey look," Uraraka motioned towards the boys and they all looked at them.

"Let's go see what they're talking about." Jirou voiced and they all walked towards the larger group. "--which of these boys can swim fifty meters the fastest?" They heard Iida's question once they got closer. "Iida, we will help too." Yaoyorozu voiced and he turned towards the girls. "Thanks!" "What about Quirks? Can we use them?" Ojiro queried to the boy. "We're at school, so there shouldn't be a problem." He responded. "However, you cannot cause damage to any people or buildings!" Iida announced. "This'll be fun." Kurmara voiced, Mina agreeing. Soon, the swim match began and the first five boys were up. Mineta, Tokoyami, Koda, Denki, and Bakugou were at the edge of the pool at the diving section next to each other as everyone watched, Momo standing near them. "Then, on your marks.. get set.." She then blew the whistle she had and the boys dived into the water, Bakugou going above the water using his Quirk, immediately on the other side. "How was that, you extras?!" He shouted towards them. "What do you mean, 'How was that?!'" Sero shouted back. "You didn't even swim!" Kurmara shook her head and let out a chuckle. "It's freestyle!"

"He thinks he doesn't have to swim in order for it to count." She laughed lightly, Jirou shaking her head as well. Next were Sero, Todoroki, Sato, Kirishima, and Aoyama. "On your marks.. get set.." Momo blew the whistle for them to start and Sero used his Quirk to get across the water, Aoyama and Todoroki did the same but Aoyama stopped halfway and brought Sero down into the water with him leaving Todoroki to finish at the end. "You're supposed to be swimming!" Mineta and Kaminari shouted at him, making Kurmara laugh again. After them were Iida, Midoriya, Ojiro and Shoji. "On your marks.. get set.." She blew the whistle and the boys dove into the water, Iida using his Quirk to get across as well. Kurmara shook her head as she sat under the shaded part of the building, Kirishima walking over to her. "Hey," he greeted as he sat next to her. "Hi," they sat in silence as they watched their classmates, seeing Midoriya touching the end before Iida and they cheered. "Whoo!" "Good job, Midoriya!" "Iida, you were so close!" Mina exclaimed as everyone cheered for them both. "That was super close," Kurmara noted, giggling lightly and Kirishima agreed. "It was. They're both good."

"The winners of each heat– Bakugou, Todoroki, and Midoriya– will race for first place." Iida voiced as he stood in front of everyone. "Is that alright?" "Yup." "Yeah." "Hey, Half-and-Half Bastard! Don't hold back like you did at the sports festival." Bakugou voiced to the boy. "Come at me seriously!" "Seems like he always wants a fight or competition.." Kurmara muttered to herself as she watched the three boys go to the diving end of the pool. "Then, the fifty-meter freestyle final will begin now!" Iida announced. "Go, Bakugou!" Kirishima cheered for the ash-blonde boy. "Don't kill the other guys!" Denki added. "Todoroki, don't lose!" "Do your best, Deku!" "Everyone, fight!" "You got this!" "On your marks.. get set.." Iida blew the whistle and the boys jumped forward only to splash into the water, everyone confused. "Wh-what?" "Their Quirks were erased?" Erased... Kurmara looked to her right and saw their homeroom teacher. "It's five. Your pool time has now ended. Hurry up and go home." He voiced as he walked towards the group of students. "Come on, Mr. Aizawa!" Denki began. "We just got to the good part!" Sero added but Aizawa glared at them. "Did you say something?" "Nothing, sir!"

Soon, everyone went into the locker rooms to change back into their clothes before leaving the school. Kurmara walked down to the city, heading home, feeling refreshed yet exhausted at the same time. It was nice to use the pool and hang out with everyone. She thought as she yawned, turning onto her street. Soon we'll be going to the training camp. I feel excited yet very nervous as well.. maybe it's nothing and I'm just anticipating. She shook her head as she opened the front door and slid her shoes off, setting her bag next to them as she walked further into the house towards her room. Kurmara closed her door, removed her shorts, and flopped onto her bed, not bothering to remove her shirt as she fell asleep almost immediately, the nervousness and anticipation fading away as she slept.
