Chapter 63 - Kin

Inshal felt strangely calm sitting in a large ballroom that is public to any visitors, there was snakes and drinks free to anyone if they just ask. Inshal has her seat higher and away from the public but still on view. She found it more comfortable to socialise with everyone then to sit on a throne and stare at the accatinal noble. "Queen Inshal, your dinner is ready would you like me to take it to your chambers?" one of the workers asked with a bow.

"No I'll eat in the dinning room" Inshal stretched, she walked over to the room that she ate in the first time she was in the underworld. Inshal could feel the weight of her crown as she walked, it's been quiet for the past two says that Marlo and Darkin left to the earth. 'But what's up with FunPup? why out of the blue just... my head isn't in the right state of mind' Inshal flicked her tail as she sat down on her seat.

"You alright queen Inshal?" a woman on the closest table to hers asked. She had really dark horns and tail, a friendly smile for a demon and soft, well kept hair in and elfs form.

"Yeah, just thinking" Inshal nodded and chiefs brought out everyone's plates and wine blass.

"We haven't been introduced" she moved to a seat nest to hers, it wasn't Marlos but a seat just lower of her, "I guess you could call grandma".

"Oh your fathers mother" Inshal could feel her eyes widen in glee.

"Yes" she giggled, "my name's Netherine, pur family has been nobals for generations but never have one has been queen before" he commented and Inshal felt pride in that statement.

"So all I've heard form fathers side is well just father and Marlo said around 20 other family members" Inshal exsadirated and she looked amused.

"So Darkin hasn't told you much of your own kin then?" Netherine asked, taking a sip of her wine, "you know I'm not surprised that your horns and... halo are black". Netherine touched her halo and Inshals wings and tail shivered.

"Don't touch my halo!" Inshal moved her hand away and Netherine looked shocked at her reaction.

"I guess it could sence demons around" Netherine chuckled but her eyes looked concerned.

"Yeah that's normal, just a horrible reaction" Inshal explained and took a bite out of her meal.

"How about tonight you spend at our family's home, meet your kin and not spend the night alone in a castle" Netherine offered.

"Alright, I've been meaning to meet everyone for a while now" Inshal accepted and they all ate, the sounds of chater and wine glasses tapping in a cheer filled the room. Inshal finished and Netherine quickly finished and guided her to a large mansion, it was carved into a cave. Walls built on the outside and on the inside of the grand, dark oak door was a cave with a spiral staircase that lead to many chambers and many eyes that reflected the little light in the room looked at Inshal with curiosity. "Don't worry they just want to know who you are, everyone here was raised in these wall" Netherine explained and guided her to a living room.

"So who else is here? I mean not all of our kin is hear at every moment" Inshal asked and she smiled.

"Well tonight should be me, your grandad, aunt and cousins" Netherine listed and gave her a curious look, "you have taken a lot of your angel side" she commented and gently pet her wing.

"Yeah, my mum always said that it was a good thing and the reason why the second council didn't kill me" Inshal explained and now she could see how bad that could sound for a demon to hear.

"So she made you feel horrible for being a demon?" Netherine smiled but gritted her teeth, "no wonder you ran away before they could force you into any angel positions, I mean did you hear what she accused your father on doing?".

"No but I think I have a good idea of what that would sound like" Inshal shook her head but smiled, Netherine gave a loving look.

"You have taken your fathers eyes though" she held her cheek and exsamend every but of her face.

"He also said that I take his energy when I was a kid" Inshal remembered back when he was a kid, he would constantly chace her around because of how hyper active she could get.

"Oh you would meet up with him as a kid? glad to know you weren't completely shut of from your demon side" Netherine gave an even softer, loving smile. "You know when the hole kingdom sensed a shift in the earth arora that a hybrid exists and then my son, Darkin, the Kings right hand was the farther, everyone thought that Marlo would have him killed and our family would loose our noble title. But then Marlo let him go, nothing change, Darkin spent more time on earth and then news that you became queen. It's been a ride, but now you are home introduced yourself and let us see you for who you are" she finished and Inshal hasn't felt so safe and secure before.

"So they just gonna stay in the shadows or will they come down?" Inshak asked half joking.

"Oh this family is known to not like change but they'll come around" Netherine promised and left the room, Inshal followed and a woman that looks to be the same age as Darkin approached her.

"Nice to see that my brother finally allows you to be with us, we just assumed that he didn't want you here" she smiled and her horns looked gorgeous, freshly polished and much darker then normal.

"No, I was just... conflicted, if you know what I mean" Inshal smiled and she had a gental look.

"Hey I'll show you a room you cab stay in, nice crown by the way" she complemented and head up the stairs. Inshal couldn't see anyone but she still felt as if someone was watching her.

"Thanks, nice horns" Inshal complained back and she gave a proud smile.

"Thanks I word a lot on them" she climbed the last bit of stairs and went to the chambers at the back. It was dark but Inshal was able to see, she opened a door and a very comfortable looking room, Inshal was impressed and mesmerised by how pretty it is. "We didn't really know what you would like so we made everything fluffy" she smiled and Inshal felt the fluff of the beg.

"You made it the way I love it" Inshal commented, she sat down and she felt right at home.

"I'm glad to hear it" she sat down next to her, "did Darkin tell you everyone's names?" she asked.

"No, I only really know father now Netherine and now you, what is your name?" Inshal tilted her head.

"Oh I thought so, he isn't the best when it comes to personal things, my name is Vanda" Vanda intro herself, "so what are you into? as far as we're aware, you became good friends with Clorsh, Discord and Xzaviar, well before he became a traitor" she asked.

"Well Xzaviar was the first one I met that isn't my father or Marlo, Clorsh and I became good friends then I met Discord when Marlo was being homophobic" Inshal explained and Vanda nodded, "what happened when you were captured?".

"Oh I honestly don't remember much, they kept me knocked out most of the time and when I was awake it was for questioning" Inshal grinned, 'of cause they are gonna be interested in what happened' Inshal realised.

"That's... that sounds bad" Vanda shifted her tail and gave a very concerned look, "they didn't leave any mark on you though right?" her eyes layed on the giant scar on her stomach.

"That's not what the angels done, a creature attacked me and did that... I lost something from that" Inshals ears drooped and Vanda gave a look that let her know that she knew.

"It'll be ok just... you'll be fine" Vanda tried to comfort but Inshal just turned away, 'no I'm fine, it's all fine it wasn't even alive' Inshal kept telling herself and eventually she calmed down.

"Sorry I didn't mean to upset you" Vanda hugged her, it helped a lot, Inshal embraced her aunts hug.

"It's ok, just give me time" Inshal shifted her wings and her tail twitched.

"You're safe here" Vanda comforted her, hugging a little tighter and Inshal felt happier.

"You know you're the only aunt who has bothered to get to know me" Inshal commented and Vanda tilted her head in confusion, loosing her grip.

"You have many others you're yet to meet" Inshal chuckled a little.

"Let me refraze that, you're the first" Inshal got out of her grip and she sat back go stretch her back, "I have one in the hevens but... I don't even know her name anymore".

"Your family on your mother's side just don't bother?" Vanda looked discussed and her wings dropped.

"No, to them I'm a mistake and they made it so that I silently know" Inshal bared her teeth when she really thought about it. She never cared about them, they don't bother so she doesn't bother.

"Hey well most of us are going to go to bed, see you in the morning, maby your farther would return by then" Vanda stretched and left, 'first time meeting my kin and I express my depressing side' Inshal sighed and layed on the very soft bed. 'They did make the best room I could ever hope for though' she smiled and snuggled herself ontop of the blankets. She slept soundly that night, waking up every now and then due to too much heat but it was comfortable. "Inshal" Darkins voice called to her, she blinked and he was sitting at the end of her bed. "Morning, we kinda have the elven empress in prisoned back at the camp" Darkin explained as he leaned on the bed pole.

"Morning, what were you up to then?" Inshal stretched, Darkin had a smile and Inshal didn't have a good feeling of why he was so happy.

"Marlo wanted to know what the elves were doing and we captured this elf that looks like your mother. We found out after going to this cave that she was the empress and then it got even colder, too many demons in the commens tent so we came back" Darkin explained but there was this familiar smell on him.

"What is that smell?" Inshal asked, she took a deep breath and she could swar that she knew what it was.

"Stop" Darkin jumped of and hissed, "it's nothing just the elves" he promised but Inshal smell Marlo on him. 'It shouldn't be that surprising, they are best friends' Inshal shrugged.

"Right so you all thought that I would like a fluffy and soft room?" Inshal joked, "I love it".

"Glad you do, when I saw you that day I knew you just had to have your own room, I knew that your mother would never let you come here so I just waited until you wanted to" Darkin had a very proud and glad smile on his face.

"Can I add an ac in here?" Inshal asked and Darkin nodded, giving her a hug.

"You have no idea what this mean to me" Darkins tail wagged slightly, his horns looking very shiny but not as well maintained as Vandas.

"I met your mother and Vanda" Inshal mentioned, "she looks to be the same age as you" she commented.

"Oh Vanda, give her two minutes and she'll insult me, just because I'm the younger twin" Darkin sighed.

"You're a twin?" Inshal tilted her head, "I honestly wouldn't have guessed".

"Yeah, everyone says that" Darkin sat on the desk that she had next to the wall, "come on, Marlo is waiting for you to get breakfast" he said and they left for the castle.
