"WHAT!" I yell, maybe a little too loud but I can't believe it.
"Karlos!" My Mother screams "Shut up, it's not a big deal"
"Yes it is, why am I becoming king anyway? Father's coming back in seven days."
Mother takes a heavy breath and her eyes start to water. I had never seen her cry before. She grabs my arms and pulls me closer into a hug...It felt nice she'd never done this before.
"Oh Karlos'' she sobbed "Your father, he was sick for a long time, but then on that trip to sea he took a month ago…" She had to take a breath before continuing, though she didn't need to. I knew what had happened. "He-he...he your father is...Dead

I can feel tears slide down my face, the thing I had wished would never happen…
I never had the best connection with my father but he was a great man, a King who had won everything he worked for...and now he'd been defeated by a disease. What a rubbish way to die. And now I had to pay for it at age 17!
Being a part of the royal family is sh!t. One moment you're a prince playing around and being lazy, and the next you're at your coronation being crowned king at 17.
But I'm not going to think about that now, because I need to be a good brother and comfort my siblings. They might have taken the bullet harder than me, I can see why they always had a better connection with Father than anyone else.
"Sean" I say prepared to get no response. Sean is my little brother. He's 13, about 4 years younger than me. Which means he's a little moody...
"What do you want, Karl?!" He snaps back, about a year ago Mother had Sean's walls taken off his room due to an accident he got into. So now anyone can see what he's doing.
"I-I just wanted to know if...if you knew...." I ask hanging my head to give more emphasis to my question
"Of course I know!" He shouts back "How could I not, it's everywhere"
