Chapter 6 - SECOND ONLY TO THE GRIM REAPER

Mona Serinna could only sigh as she could not reject on her behalf since her ward had decided to agree to the marriage alliance. She instead began to make speculations about why the naughty girl had suddenly agreed to the marriage. But even after coming up with many sceneries she couldn't fathom the girl's train of thought. Did she know that she was marrying into a pack of wolves? She was now regretting for shielding the girl from the truth of this world. How was she going to make her understand that the Lycanthropes were not another tribe of humans but wolves? She suddenly felt headache.

Since the bride had consented the alliance marriage, the elders quickly finalized their discussion, then sent an attendant to invite the Alpha King in. Nicklaus was ushered into the hall again. This time, his demeanor was totally different. Immediately he stepped in through the door, the elders tensed up again. They were in dear need for air but they didn't dare to breathe in. The air was just too cold. They had had close to no rumours about the Alpha King. All they knew was that he was cruel, cruel and cruel. They had always been afraid of him. To them he was a mystery that they didn't want to solve. They had met him every year during the Feast of Oracles and he had always won a wicked smile and acted like a... Lunatic. Everyone had assumed he was a sadist but now this sadist was giving off a noble bone chilling cold air.

On the other side, Derrick was also somber looking. His eyes were dull and his demeanor was like a fallen soldier. His expression made the already tensed elders more tensed. Although Derrick was a frightening existence, he had always maintained a casual and relaxed bearing. Seeing him like this, they didn't know what they should do next. There was a popular saying in this world,

'an angry wolf makes you weary but be wary of a cold wolf'.

They had never taken this to heart because, as long as they had known of them, werewolves were mostly angry but never cold. This upturned situation made the elders even more distressed and unnerved. Even Mona Serinna was worried.

Meanwhile, the oblivious Ophelia who didn't know that her husband to be was a werewolf, was in an inconspicuous corner was observing the situation. She was quite taken aback when the unrestrained, uncultured and restless Nicklaus suddenly became a walking iceberg exuding layer after layer of cold air. She was now filled with regret for agreeing too easily to be married to an ice coffin ( she would still have married him anyway but not like this).

'What if she was suddenly frozen to death by him one day?' she wandered.

"Oh, no! I'm dead meat", she muttered.

While Ophelia was regretting her spontaneous agreement, Nicklaus was sitting down on his chair like a finely sculptured ice statue. He was looking in one direction but he gave each one of the elders a feeling of being stared at by an overwhelming predator though his eyes were actually unfocused. This king was busy thinking of how he would threaten his in-laws in giving him his desired bride since his 'coaxing and bootlicking' didn't work. Ever since he had woken up from coma, he had been strategising on how to bring the girl over to his side without scaring her or leaving a bad impression of himself in front of his future in-laws, but they had instead left him outside to discuss.

'What's there to discuss' he thought.

'Weren't they supposed to have brought her over excitedly since he had overlooked their past deeds' He felt infuriated the more he thought about it.

Nicklaus growled and ice shards were shot in the air towards every elder present. They stopped a right infront of their faces. The already cold air became colder and the pressure increased by manifolds. Derrick could only bow his head lower and pray to the heavens that his King would be able to go home safely__ the Alkals had shown their might that time. He didn't even have any hope of his king bringing a maid home after his assaults not to talk of his bride. He was already planning on how he would use his pregnant wife as an excuse to escape the impending doom that will befall them if any such thing happened. He would also be nice by informing the others in exchange for something else.

Ophelia who had again seen another side of this Alpha king felt like she had gained new insights on how to get what ever she wanted. She was impressed and a little frightened at how quickly the man lost his temper. Didn't people say that although he was the most feared Alpha, he was also the most patient one. As expected, one can't trust rumours. If he truly was the most patient one then other Lycanthropes would have razed the whole of Alkal, if they could. She once again felt that she was endangering her life voluntarily by choosing to marry into a mob of temperamental people who could lose their temper at any time but she also knew that she had to find the answers she sought before all the traces disappeared. She had investigated for long in Alkal but she had not found a single clue yet. Lycan Kingdom was another good place to continue.

Seeing that there was still no change in the stagnated atmosphere, she clenched her first and came out of the corner where she was. She walked lightly towards the chaos trembling. As she came closer to them, Nicklaus who was still feeling indignant about his futal efforts snapped his head up and his eyes met the girl. Only one thought filled his head and that was that his little bunny was supernaturally breathtaking. Her beauty was ethereal.

Afraid of being seen as a pervert by his wife, he decided to slowly savour her beauty later when they were married.

When Ophelia was finally near the table, she stopped. Shivering all over like fish on land, she spoke softly but everyone heard her:

@"Aunt Lina, can you please tell him that he'll be marrying a frozen wife, if this continued". Mona Serinna tried are best to pull off a sober face even though she was bursting with laughter inside, Mona Galia sneered with contempt at the girl's cowardice, some elders looked guiltily at the pitiful bunny, some were full of sarcasm, Derrick lowered himself more and clutched his stomach which was hurting from holding in his laughter with one hand and the Alpha King expressionlessly withdrew his aura which made everyone breathe a sigh of relief. They were so relieved and amused that they didn't notice that the Alphas ears had grown longer.

The air was still cold but it was at most breathable.

Being a prominent elder and Ophelia's gaurdian Mona Serinna spoke on behalf of the Alkals and since according to tradition the broom should not be involved in the planning, Derrick had to be the one to negotiate with his in-laws on behalf of his king. Derrick felt like a huge mountain was hanging over his head and if he made a wrong move half the mountain would smash down on him. His predicament was the true epitome of being between a rock and a hard place. He could neither offend his King nor his in-laws. Luckily for him, the negotiation went well and the glare boring a hole behind his head disappeared before it could Peirce him through. Derrick felt like his lifespan had been shortened by half.

When the Alpha king finally left with his Entourage ( consisting of only Derrick) elders of Alkal slumped on the table disregarding their prestige as elders. The alpha king was truly second only to the grim reaper. Everyone of them shared an understanding look as if agreeing never to provoke him.

Monas Serinna still couldn't figure out the reason why Ophelia agreed to the marriage. She secretly stared at Ophelia wishing for a clue but all that was staring back at her was indifference; she knew in her heart that she could never force Ophelia into doing anything she didn't want to. She was just worried that she might get hurt; if she did how was she to explain the her baby's mother and her best friend. 'If you were hear, you'd have persuaded her not to do whatever she didn't want to' sighing again, Mona Serinna excused herself and disappeared carrying Ophelia with her as she felt.

The main characters of today had left, their was no need staying so they all left.
