Chapter 22 - Chapter 20: A familiar face

I'm sure of it. This change in sync with the body and spirit is caused by a spell of charming.

"Robin, be careful. We're dealing with a succubus."

"You seem certain of it. Got it, I'll trust you. What should we do?"

"No changes in plans. The guy would eventually lead us to where the succubus is, but I can't let you go in front."

"How can I protect you if I don't step forward? What if you get charmed?"

"I don't know, yet in that case I have you to knock me out. The worst case scenario here is you getting charmed and I can't protect myself against you."

"T-that's reasonable. But I'm a woman! I shouldn't be affected by a succubus' crafts."

"You're weak to these sorts of magic, Captain. In addition, for all we know you might have preference on the same team."

Robin opened her mouth in surprise before she lets out a disappointed sigh.

"I'll have you know, I only have interest in men. I just haven't found any to my liking yet. Nevermind that, where's the man?", Robin points us. Realizing that we've been occupied for too long, I turned around in a haste and saw that the man is gone.

"That's guy's on danger, we have to search for him!"

The streets only go on one way, it shouldn't be hard to catch up to him. Following the road we stumbled upon the body of the man. Laying on the cold ground, seemingly lifeless yet his clothes are kept in place. He is untouched, but he is still entranced with the spell of charm, the succubus is still nearby.

"Captain, look out for any attacks. You mustn't let yourself be touched by a succubus."

"I'll keep my eyes peeled."

It's all too quiet. Deafening silence yet all too easy to break. Our priority is to get the unconscious guard to safety. I slowly pulled the body of the guard away from the alley. Surprisingly nothing happened, but I feel a presence gazing on us. Watching our movements. For some reason however, I can't find her with my eyes. She must be hiding from afar. What trick is she using?

She's aware of us now. Tsk, guess we won't be getting sleep tonight.

"Captain, let's go bring this man to safety first."

"The succubus?"

"We don't have to worry about her for now."

If she won't show up, then it's better to make our move. The succubus is wary and she might strike us first before she proceeds with her games. We can't sleep, the demon might invade our dreams and I can't have Robin gone when I wake up.

We carried the guy back to the guard house. However we can't exactly go inside, given that we have no permission so we could only leave him out in the open.

"Captain, I advise we sleep after the night. The succubus might invade our dreams."

"Then we should sleep on the morning. We'll have to put an end to this soon or else we won't be able to get our bearings."

The two of us agreed and went on another patrol. Unfortunately we seem to have scared off the succubus, and the sun rose up by the time we got back to the inn. There we had a little breakfast to fill our tired bodies and slept.

It felt like just a moment. My tired body immediately went to sleep the second I dropped on the bed. The next thing I felt when I regained consciousness is the glaring light of the sun hitting my face. I opened my eyes and bright skies greeted me. The sun is now starting to fall to the other direction, so it must have been afternoon. I stood up and rubbed my eyes, yawning from my sleepiness. The weather is great, it's warm and comforting, perfect for a nap, but we have to move soon. Getting dinner should be our priority since we skipped lunch.

I stretched my arms, squinting my eyes in the process. As I look as Robin's bed, I found that she have already gone up.

Probably went and got lunch for herself. Should've woke me up...

I had a change of clothes and went downstairs, hoping to find Robin sitting on the lounge. However I did not find her there.

Maybe at the tavern? She must've been drinking.

I went to the tavern. Took quite a walk, but I eventually reached it and entered the establishment.

"Good afternoon! Quite the early visit. And I see that you're alone today.", the waitress greets to me.

"Wait, is Captain not here?"

"You mean the scary woman you were with last night? Nope, she isn't."

Wait, huh? I thought she went here? Oh, no no...this is bad. I hope it isn't what I think it is.

"I...I have to get going, sorry! I realized I have an emergency! See you later.", I said to her before rushing out of the tavern.

It would be easy to spot Captain, but she could've been brought to an alley. Plus, anybody here could've been a succubus.

I opened my eyes to the spirits and roamed around the town, trying to find the Captain. I run around, from one district to another and soon I find myself running out of breath. Even so, I didn't stop my feet.

I haven't seen any signs, but I only need to go three districts. I hope I'm not too late!

As I run I catch something in my eye. The familiar giant build of Robin hiding in an alley in the corner. Beside her, is the spirit of the succubus. It has the distinct curviness and allure, and I am afraid I just know who this is. After all, I haven't forgotten about it!

Turning at the alley where I see them, I finally encounter a familiar face. Waving coyly at me, she lets out a grin while she bounces so slightly in joy. Beside her is a sleeping Robin, thankfully she is not harmed. I have to say, sleeping while standing is a feat that should be expected from the Fortress Knight.

"Heey! Fancy meeting you here. Got to say, the mask doesn't suit you. I mean, I can't get to see your face right now...Thane."

Oh Goddess. I should've have expected Lucina when it was a succubus.
