All Futhark territories were governed by the different races that inhabited the world, some having more presence than others in this aspect, highlighting humans in this.
It wasn't strange that, if you were of Futhark, you would hear the mention of kingdoms and empires here and there, even your town or city might be part of some of them, so it was already quite normal for everyone. A kingdom that was ruled by a royal family and that the throne would be inherited by someone from the same branch, an empire with an emperor who ruled over all those powers that called themselves "kingdoms" within their territory.
That was the normal flow of power in Futhark and no one did anything to try to change it since you could say there was some kind of strange balance, so... What was a republic?
In the beginning, everything had taken the world by surprise. While all the other continents were trying to consolidate their power as best, they could or were in the middle of wars or conflicts that did not allow them to develop, Raidu was a land that no one dared to claim as their own, and the reason for that was because of the guardian of the continent… Firesome.
"And what did Firesome have to do with all that?" The aforementioned was very similar to what Lynn had just told Blake, but he still couldn't fully understand what had happened.
"Before I tell you, how much do you know about Guardians, Blake?" Once again, the occasion had arisen where Lynn had to check how advanced Blake's knowledge was to know if she needed to be too explicit with her explanation or not.
"Well, from what my master told me, I know there are four of them right now. Terrable, Firesome, Ventuswill, and Aquaticus." Blake also mentioned the most basic, so the name of each one was what had appeared in his mind.
"Exactly, although I would recommend that you not say their names so lightly, after all, they are like the gods of Futhark in the opinion of many, and some take it as a lack of respect." Lynn mentioned this not because it was part of those people, but also because they had instilled in her the teaching of respecting the guardians of the world. "It's like you said, in current times we know the name of four guardians, but there is something that you need to know so that you understand what I said at first."
Blake separated his back from the support of the chair in which he was sitting and then brought his figure closer to the table since the guardians were a topic that was of great interest to him. He didn't know why, but he felt that this topic was just as mysterious as the oddities that were present around him.
"Gods. Guardians. Elder Dragons. All those names are used to call each one of them, and that is how it has always been, from the ancient eras to ours, even after the era of disconnection this did not change in any way." Lynn took some time between her words to explain as best as she could. "Each of them has their own name that they received from their birth, and they have watched over the world as we know it, they were created with that objective, but especially, with that of protecting the balance of Futhark."
If someone asked him, Blake would say that he felt that the calm atmosphere from before had turned into a heavy one, he didn't know why that was happening, but he was sure that if this continued for a long time, it would even start to become somewhat difficult for even him to breathe.
"To begin… We have the guardian who is the same element, as well as the wind runes. It is known as the one who presides over the weather, fulfilling the task of protecting Futhark and the races that inhabit it from any natural disaster... As well as offering his life in exchange for keeping the runes of the world alive. Ventuswill." Lynn knew that she had just told Blake that he should not mention the guardians' names lightly, but the situation called for it, plus she tried to show as much respect as she could.
Blake felt all the weight behind it, at the same time many more questions were generated in her mind due to Lynn's words, but the curiosity that showed on her face would not be enough to interrupt her.
"Water is something fundamental for all living beings, just as much of Futhark is made up of it, so it is obvious that the element and runes of water will completely define the next guardian. It is known as the one who presides over the transformation, the one who is aware of all the changes that occur in the world, and who intervenes, when necessary, even though it leaves no trace of its presence. Aquaticus." Lynn had to remain silent for a moment, being part of the Laguz continent, and having Aquaticus as a symbol of security and guardian, it went without saying that, among all the guardians, he was the one she had the most respect for. "And in turn, being considered the opposite element to water, there is one that can be taken in two ways, as a light of hope, or as the precursor of some type of disaster, although it is not unusual that what comes to mind for many is the latter, not only because of what was mentioned but because the guardian of the fire element is also known as the one who presides over destruction. Firesome."
Lynn took a look at Blake, this was the point she wanted to get to for him to understand and pay attention, so she started with the little story that was in her mind.
"Firesome fulfills a specific role, and that is to destroy any threat to Futhark, from those that come from outside... Like those that arise within it." Blake felt some coldness in Lynn's words, so she could imagine. "Even so, we must accept that his role is completely necessary. There is a story from ancient eras where mention is made of the race of demons, where the guardian of fire had a lot of presence."
"The demon race?" Blake had to ask since he had never heard of that breed nor had Lynn mentioned it during her explanation, but the following would make it very clear to him why…
"A powerful race in ancient eras, but with a thirst for power beyond what it could control, its actions, many of them horrific, caused all other races to band together to eliminate it, and in the end… The Guardian of Fire burned even the slightest trace of it…"
