Chapter 285 - Day 285: Basic knowledge (III)

"I understand your situation... But what I don't understand is what you want me to do." Those words were said in a calm tone, and if someone was close enough, they would know that it belonged to Marjorie. "You know that the way of magic is something that you must travel at the level you are, there are no real rewards for those who seek a shortcut."

She seemed like she was saying all this to someone since her tone expressed great emphasis, and that became quite clear after the voice of her companion made an appearance in response to the little scolding it received.

"But Major Marjorie, I wouldn't go for help if I wasn't desperate, it's been years since I've been stuck in this bottleneck, am I not fit to get a little push?" That voice would also be identified by a couple of people, but from the pleading tone of it, it would make some doubt if it was really her.

"The answer will still be no, you already have enough resources to experiment and the lack of opportunities has never presented itself to you, do you think that everyone is as favored as you are?" Marjorie's voice made her position very clear, and from the way she calmly drank her tea, it seemed like she didn't want to pursue the topic any further.

A depressing feeling surrounded those who accompanied her at the table. Her expression and her little inelegance made the picture unique, and that was because that person was Lynn. She had left the Sainte-Coquille family mansion early in search of Marjorie, the main idea she had was to chat a little more, but she had also brought up that topic of conversation with a small hope of receiving help.

She had the attitude of not giving up, but it was not the first time she had dealt with Marjorie, so she knew that any further attempt would end in a bad situation for her, but before she looked for something else to pay attention to, she saw a figure coming up the stairs, and the same situation was repeated for Marjorie.

Both Marjorie's and Lynn's figures had appeared in Blake's vision. They both seemed to be enjoying a quiet moment drinking some tea, but from what he had heard a few moments ago, he knew that this was not entirely the case, but in addition to standing still on the last step of the stairs, his figure became he flinched a bit when he was exposed.

"I must say it's a miracle to see you around here, did you remember that you have a master to visit?" Marjorie didn't miss the opportunity to greet Blake with that little reminder that it was already normal for both of them.

"Good afternoon, master..." Blake had to do the part of him as he leaned in a little as if he was trying to express some sort of apology. He didn't last any longer standing in the same place and he approached until Marjorie motioned for him to take one of the free seats around. "Good afternoon too... Lynn."

Blake hesitated a bit on how exactly to refer to Evelyn and Sofia's aunt. It was true that he had already met her and talked a little with her, but it was undeniable to him that she conveyed an aura or feeling that made him somewhat nervous.

"Hehe, hello to you too, Blake. I like that you used my name directly, I rarely hear it at home, and if my mother does, it's almost always to give me some kind of scolding." Lynn acted like a child who suffered a lot, but that only made Blake feel stranger.

He had deduced that Lynn must be someone with a high status or with equal to the wealth of the Sainte-Coquille family, it was true that he had already experienced relating to Evelyn and Sofia, and although neither they nor Lynn displayed an attitude that was difficult to relate to them, it was something that could not be simply ignored.

"Anyway, what brings you here, boy? Is there something that's been bothering you or do you need some advice regarding some aspect of magic?" It was pretty clear to Marjorie that Blake was the type of person who liked to learn things on his own, but there were times when he would seek help with certain things, and strangely enough, most of the time he looked for her when it came to something related.

Both Blake and Lynn heard Marjorie's words. Blake nodded as Marjorie had guessed correctly, while some curiosity aroused in Lynn as she clearly felt the difference in benefits she would receive if she were Marjorie's disciple.

"Actually, there are some things I'd like to ask about some spells, but I've also realized something important." The sincerity in Blake's words did not go unnoticed by Marjorie, she had already made up her mind to help Blake to the best of her ability could, so she was a little curious... Although the next thing she heard made her feel a little embarrassed. "I think my knowledge of the world is a bit lacking or null in some aspects, for example, most general knowledge, so I was wondering if you could help me with that."

Despite everything, Blake's words were not surprising since there was a very important aspect to take into account, and that was that he had lost his memory. It was practically like a blank piece of paper that was slowly filled with the knowledge that he gained day by day, but besides the knowledge that was left with him, it was as if he was a child who needed to go to school or be taught by someone else.

That was the reason why Marjorie was embarrassed, she was always aware of this and it went without saying that she had already thought about the idea of giving Blake a few classes to reinforce his knowledge about Futhark or other aspects, but she hadn't found the perfect opportunity or she had simply forgotten.

"Now I understand… I have no problem with-" But before Marjorie could respond positively to Blake's request, she was suddenly interrupted by her guest.

"I can help you with that!" Lynn held up her hand as if she wanted all the attention in the room to be on her. Her eyes seemed to sparkle with excitement as her mind filled with many ideas, but on top of that, she was very curious about Blake's situation.

Marjorie and Blake looked at each other when that happened, each with their own thoughts, but they both agreed on one thing, the situation would play out a bit differently than they thought.
