"Wait, Nana. How are you able to do that if you are not bonded to the wooly?" From what Blake had understood, the instructor needed to bond with the monster to command it, but that seemed to be a bit wrong.
"As I told you before, bonding with the monster makes the process easier and more direct, but bonding is not completely necessary to command it." Nana was not bothered by Blake's question, she really wanted to free him of all his doubts, so it was good that he asked a lot of questions. "You could say that's the most important aspect of an instructor and it's unlocked after they bond with their first monster."
Blake understood that a new explanation was coming. In this short time that he had been with Nana these moments had not been missing, so he had already gotten used to it.
"You're already aware that you can feel the emotions of the wooly since you're bonded with it, and going by that aspect, I'm sure you can now even slightly understand the emotions of the monsters you're not bonded with." Nana just mentioned that as there was no way to prove it right now since there was no other monster around, but Blake believed her words. "You can think of it as a new ability, although it doesn't fall into the category of magic or runic ability… It's like it's some kind of muscle, the more you train your ability to understand monsters, the easier it becomes for you to understand their emotions and command them more easily."
Blake thought that he was a good example. He could accept that now he had a new ability and would use it, although he still had doubts about it, Nana was not going to stop.
"So, as you saw. I only needed to touch the little wooly and transmit my will to it to be able to command it."
"Will?" Blake had to ask that question since he really couldn't think what Nana meant by that.
"Uh… You can ignore that if you want, it's just a way of calling the intent that we instructors give to monsters when we want them to do something. Not everyone calls it the same way, but that's a pretty popular one." Blake nodded at her words and supposed he could still call it that way. "So you can define the will as what I said earlier, it's like how the instructors can communicate with the monsters. That's why I told you that I admire the Univir a lot, apart from the will, their ability to understand monsters is a great advantage to become an instructor."
Blake could again see how Nana's eyes sparkled when mentioning all that and a small laugh that only he heard came out of his mouth at the same time that he bent down and raised his hand in the direction of the wooly.
It looked back at him curiously, but the wooly didn't avoid Blake's touch, even though he had quickly felt something very similar to when Nana touched it. Its mind filled with a simple instruction, it didn't feel like something was forcing it, it could still decide if it agreed or not, but it didn't see any problem with it either.
The woolly waved goodbye to Nana and Blake before quickly walking away until its figure disappeared into some bushes not far from the open area. That itself had made Nana wonder what instruction Blake had given it, but the answer to that would come rather quickly.
It was less than a minute, but the wooly came back out of the embrace of nature with something new between its paws. It wasn't long before it arrived with the group again, and as Blake was about to greet it, the wooly turned its attention to Nana.
"Is it for me?" Nana asked that question, although the woolly was clearly indicating that with its movements as well as its bleating in affirmation. "Hehe, thank you very much."
Nana patted the wooly's head again in thanks before she turned her attention to Blake.
"Thank you, Blake. it's a nice gift." Nana had a quiet and honest and captivating smile while in her hands she held a beautiful toyherb that was what the wooly had obtained earlier.
"I'm glad you like it…" Blake scratched his head a little. Those words were the only ones that came out of him since he didn't want to upset Nana in any way.
Basically, the instruction he believed he had given the wooly was for him to bring something from the forest. At first, he was glad that it did exactly that, but what he didn't expect was for the wooly to pick up a toyherb and give it directly to Nana, which she mistook for the instruction Blake had given it… But he still supposed hadn't there were a lot of problems with that and he would be sure to be more specific with his instructions in the future… And all that aside, something else had just caught Blake's attention.
[Taming skill, increased.]
{Taming skill. Level: 1. Progress: 2%
A skill that increases when you tame, groom, or give gifts to monsters. Raising this ability increases the ATK and DEF of companion monsters as well as your own INT.}
'Interesting... Quite interesting actually.' Blake was appreciating this new ability that his good friend system had given him. He directly related it to the 'will' Nana was talking about, so he already knew how to train it in the future.
"I guess now you understand how to give instructions to monsters." Nana noticed Blake's little trance. She thought he still admired the process of giving instructions to monsters, but she managed to get her attention after that.
"Yeah. Everything is more revealing when I experience it on my own instead of just watching, but… I have a question, Nana." Nana kept quiet so as not to interrupt Blake. "During the festival, you commanded all those woolies, but you were not in contact with them."
"I'm glad you realized that. You're right, I was able to give them instructions from a distance." Blake already suspected that, but hearing the statement relaxed him a bit.
He was still aware of what he had felt during the festival, and if it hadn't been thanks to the system, maybe he would have caused some trouble during the event…
